You will be charged "processing," "enrollment," and other various fees that cost more than the membership itself. And no, they won't tell you about these fees in person. They also charge a cancellation fee, which they label as an "Amount Past Due," if you try to cancel a membership that you literally signed up for the day before. What was supposed to be a $19.99 membership ended up costing nearly $200 with all fees included, all within just a few days of signing up.

It gets very crowded here; most of the people who work out here tend to be high schoolers and college students. It's hard to find an area in the gym that isn't already occupied by others. Personal training is offered here and fitness classes. I think that even though the price of their memberships have doubled, getting a membership here is still a good bargain. So, yeah...I'm basically obsessed with Secret Physique. I drive to Pembroke from Plymouth {not…read moreTHAT long of a drive, but still} three or four times a week to take barre class, and it is so worth it. If you can find a workout that you actually look forward to, it's best to hang on to it! The main offering is the Secret Physique Barre class and that's what I usually take. What is barre? In a nutshell, a barre workout fuses together ballet-based stretching and terminology {plie, releve, etc} with yoga, Pilates, and light weights for the upper body. Each exercise is done with high reps until you completely fatigue the muscle; then you immediately stretch and move on. This light-weights-high-reps-and-streeetcchh combo is what give you those long, lean dancer's muscles. The classes follow the same general format each time, although the exercises themselves switch up, so it's easy to get into the groove of things and see your progress over time. You see results fairly quickly with regular barre classes ~ a firmer, stronger body in general. Secret Physique also offers Bardio {which I haven't taken} and Barre Works {which I have once, unintentionally} classes for more intense classes with cardio elements, as well as Pound, a complete different workout that uses drumsticks, rock music, and a whole lotta squats. Of course in a workout class situation, you are always going to find instructors you prefer over others, and I REALLY enjoy Kerry, Jenna and Jenny's classes; however every barre class follows the same format {upper body, stretch, thighs, stretch, glutes, stretch, abs, thigh/glute combo, and cool-down} and all the girls I've taken classes from are friendly and pleasant.

I like that you can do everything as best you can and still get a good workout even if you aren't a pro. Great music in class, too. It helps distract you from the pain! The studio is comfortable and clean and the instructors I've had are great. The location is a little tough to find and the classes have difficult times for me to accommodate... I'd be in there every day if the studio was closer to home in Braintree or if there was a 6 AM class. This is the perfect supplement to my cardio workouts and a great way to tone up and get stronger. I highly recommend checking it out and register for your first class through MindBody online... I got my second class for free!

This is by-far the worst gym I've ever belonged to. Do not become a member no matter what you do!…read moreThey used to be so good when I was a long-time member as Northeast Health and Fitness, under the amazing Brian's watch. NOW with new owner/management, I see this place is never clean, even got very sick here in the spring (actually hospitalized because it more severely impacts me as someone who has chronic health issues) because the place is a petri dish. Let's talk about that for a moment. They set me up with a trainer that kept pushing dogma at me that if I just eat right and workout then I won't have to be on the medications I need for the rest of my life (or I die). Can you imagine if someone were so naive as to believe this guy- really harm could be done! Even so, they hiked up the cost for everyone so it is now a whopping money grab for $48 that this place does NOT justify. The cost of training is overpriced for the 30 minutes it offers, management will give you a never ending runaround on everything. Even when I cancelled my training, I still got charged almost 400 dollars again the following month, and got the runaround (and manager attitude) to get that money back in my account. The cherry on top is as I'm getting the runaround yet again just to cancel my membership because I am just through with this bad business, I am told that I have to be charged an additional month because they require 30 days notice. And though I've tried to cancel since Thursday, I am told that they cannot move it forward until Monday when a manager is back. I seriously hope this gym burns to the ground. It may be the only way to kill all the bacterial growth anyway. And yes, I hope they see this and it impacts their business since I must earn the satisfaction of spending another unwanted $48 on this place SOMEHOW. See you on Monday to cancel this nonsense you absolutely disgusting criminals.

I told myself once I had the time to commit, I'd go back. When I went back , I found out of their prices. The website says it's only $29 to start and $49 two months after membership start date for the annual fee. That didn't sound to bad. In actuality, the fees are $150 a month and $49 two months later for the annual fee. I'd written basically the same review and was messaged by one of their employees asking me to take down the review because it was " hurtful and inaccurate". So I did remove it because maybe my info was wrong and I'm not out here trying to hurt anyone's hustle. My bad, But then I called just to be clear and asked some questions. Nathan, who was very helpful confirmed my original remarks about the fees. IT IS $150/monthly, and $49 /annually. A lil too rich for my blood. If that's your cup of tea then sip on, but I'll pass. Thanks you Keith C.

Towels seem to be the distinguishing factor--a premium club standard--but they were small and threadbare. Now I bring my own towels to Planet Fitness, and for under $20 I'm getting the same workout and a (much) cleaner shower. I too have pics of mold in SSAC showers, which I took to the front desk when they questioned it. In the end, SSAC was able to charge my card for months though I stopped going. It was my fault, because I'm bad about canceling memberships or returning things at stores. But then finally my card expired and when SSAC couldn't get more from it, I received an obnoxious, over-the-top letter from a lawyer. No doubt, they're technically in the right ("per the agreement"), but after years of patronage, legal threats strike me as bad form. It would have been better to ask if there was a reason I left, and whether they might do anything to bring me back.

It's sometimes hard to find space, and it can be really overwhelming. Also, I'd love to see more classes that start at 7 or after 7. With the T being what it is, it's hard to get there earlier.
