It's not often that you get sequels to bars, never mind ones that are nearly in the same area…read more However, this lovely pub/bar on South Road is little sister to the excellent and very popular Stamps pub in Crosby. Like its sibling, Stamps Too is a great place to meet up with friends for a few quiet drinks or a few heavy ones before heading out to town. The atmosphere in the pub is relaxed and friendly, helped by the chatty and sociable bar staff. The drinks are fairly reasonably priced, meaning you can get pretty pissed without spending too much money (always a good way to get popular as a drinking establishment) and the ales and lager they have on offer are a lot better than most of the pubs around the area. The open plan of the front of Stamps Too also means that on nice days the pleasant weather is swept into the pub for all to enjoy. Not so pleasant on those horrible days we get quite often, though. Can get quite busy of a night-time, but if you're looking for a nice pint in an enjoyable and sociable atmosphere, I'd highly recommend Stamps Too (or Stamps, for that matter).

It proximity to Waterloo train station is great for going into town or southport for a night out and usually have a drink here before getting the train and then having another drink or two when coming home. Great live music. Only downside is there is only one ladies loo and it usually stinks. It's meant to be wheelchair accessible but it's not really. The staff are very friendly

Officially launched in March 2010, this is a new kid on the block in Chorlton's night life…read more Although it is to the rear of The Lounge bar, the management are keen to stress that this is a separate entity, with its emphasis firmly placed on live entertainment. To this end, an independent entrance has recently been installed, so that access is now via the alley to the side of The Lounge. I discovered this place purely by accident, having gone for lunch with friends at The Lounge early in 2010 and seen workmen gutting the back room, whilst electricians installed a new sound system. February saw a total refurbishment to what had originally just been a relatively small function room, and what was a pleasant but unremarkable space has been transformed into an attractive and intimate night time venue. Checking it out upon its opening, I was pleasantly surprised. The ceiling is now swathed in deep red sheer fabric, creating the feeling of being inside a Moroccan tent, whilst recessed coloured halogen spots, twinkling icicle lights and candles provide warm illumination. Mirrors and artwork adorn all the walls, and the overall effect is both tasteful and homely. The bar's owners have clearly had the designers in. Further transformation is evidenced by the change in entertainment and the clientele. In keeping with the bijou proportions of the space, live music is predominantly acoustic or semi-acoustic. That said, it's not as small-scale as you might imagine. When I attended the first night of the newly-launched Cajun Specials session last week, no less than 12 musicians were playing, and those who couldn't fit into the performance area joined in from their seats! Similarly the following night, which is open mic, saw 13 acts onstage, and the evening ended in a big jam session. The lady next to me remarked that it was 'like having a party in your own living room.' I'm told that the owner of Baroque intends building the bar's reputation as a credible live music venue, and if the nights I've attended there over the past six weeks are anything to go by, it's well on its way to achieving that goal. The ambiance is lovely, and the friendly bar staff just don't seem to be able to do enough for you. It's a very relaxed venue, and I'm told that the aim is also to make it a gay-friendly environment, which presumably explains all the pretty design touches. Prices here are pretty good, with a large glass of wine being £3.50, or under the current offer: if you buy two glasses you get the rest of the bottle free. £7 is great value for a bottle of wine! The only slight drawback at the moment is that the gents' toilet is currently behind the stage area, so male patrons have to either walk through the musicians to get to the loo, or else wait for a change-over between performers. However, I'm told that this will be remedied soon because the re-modeling isn't finished yet. It seems that even more ambitious plans are in the works for this cute little bar, and these will be implemented before the summer. It's one of those cultish venues that will go down in the city's history. They are well known for their bizarre themed nights that they put on either once a month or once every six weeks. These nights are so popular they often sell out within a day and are they hype of the week as they approach. They often have live bands and a great fancy dress theme, and it's a well known fact that people really make a big effort and go all out for these occasions. Other than these nights, the best promoters in the city seem to bring quirky bands from all over the world to play this fairly small venue as it has a great atmosphere that a lot of the bigger venues don't have!

You get a varied mixture of bands playing here, from local legends and newbies all the way up to reknowed international acts. Most recently the Liverpool label Antipop put on their birthday event and it was the best night out in... forever. The old montly Psycho Motel night that was on here in the past is now a part of legend. There is a decent variety of drinks to choose from and while it's not the cheapest, it's not ridiculous either. Perfectly resonable! For you lot who smoke (poor you) there's an outdoor area with seating for you to puff away. It's good for non-smokers too to be honest, if you just want to get some air. The Kazimier, along with Mello Mello, is the musical hub of Liverpool and somewhere you should be spending the majority of your time. Absolutely essential venue that you CANNOT miss out on.

A mere 35 minutes drive from Manchester (Traffic pending) it really is a perfect get away type location. Manchester is a vibrant and happeing place 7 days a week. The city is buzzing all year round depending on if you know where to go. Chester on the other hand is a tad sleepier which isn't a bad thing at all if you wanna get away from the hustle and bustle for an evening. A chilled out sunday vibe was desired last week and I got more than I bargained for. The place was busy but relaxed and there was the added bonus of it beinng an open mic night. (which, I think is a weekly thing. (I think) The decor of this huge pub is something that has to be experienced. In fact it has all the features I like in any building. High ceilings, exposed timbers, brick walls housing industrial artefacts and a gorgeous feature glass frontage (with a tranquil scene overlooking the canal) all make for a perfect setting for a great evening in my book. If any fellow yelpers wanna tag along I'll be heading back there soon on a sunday.

Good off street parking. Ohh and their beer garden is right on the canal side. Great for a bit of boat watching in the sun.
