The pretty little coastal town of Cromer, Norfolk is more known for its crabs than its curry. But, being in the mood for some Indian food, Mrs VnF and I decided to give this little place a whirl and were nicely surprised. No surprises here: pink walls, carpet, booths, impeccably dressed waiters with bow ties, sitar music and oil lamps on the tables. A menu containing all the usual suspects, along with one or two less standard dishes for specials (Jalalabad meatballs and Achari Gosht being two of such). Poppadoms tasted a little stale, but the lime pickle was very good, as were our mains an excellent Chicken Tikka Dansak and the Achari Gosht I mentioned above (lamb cooked with indian pickles). Naan were excellent. Cobra and Kingfisher on draft and prices pretty good. Judging by the chat the waiters were having with one of the other tables, they get plenty of repeat custom from locals. Not surprised, as if you're in Cromer and looking for a well cooked, trad curry experience this might just hit the spot. read more
