Very friendly and efficient service, and one of the best curry restaurants ever. Particularly love the sag aloo.

There are two Indian restaurants in Louth, and in my opinion this one is the nicest! Ludensians…read morewill argue hotly for their favourite, though, so it's probably a matter of personal preference rather than any genuine superiority! The Raj Mohal is always busy, even on a week night, and they have various deals on offer in the week which make curry a really good value meal - such as a 3-course meal for two for £18. These deals aren't on offer at the weekend, but it's even busier then. It's a traditionally styled Indian restaurant, with velvet banquettes and candles on the tables and a dark, intimate atmosphere. Perfect for dates, in fact, as the tables are so nice and private! There's a good range of traditional India starters, main courses and side dishes, and the food tastes freshly cooked when it arrives. Service is quick and friendly, and of course you get hot lemon-scented flannels and After Eight mints at the end of your meal - what kind of a curry would it be without those?! There's also a good range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on offer despite a very small bar, and prices for those are reasonable too.

I have to agree with the other review of this restaurant. I have used both Indian restaurants in…read moreLouth extensively and as Indian food is my preferred restaurant experience I have tried many all over the country. This one ranks up there with the best. The prices are very competitive and the range on the menu includes all the typical Indian fare with a few specialities thrown in for good measure. The service is pretty fast and the staff are friendly, yet even though it's always quite busy they never try to rush you out. The setting is very much like one I visited in Norwich, with seating being in cubicles and quite dark so it is really intimate and even when busy the level of noise is quite subdued by the way it's laid out. Again for romance this is lovely, glittering candle flames in your lovers eyes is the best way to eat. I would definately recommend this restaurant if you like indian food and even more so if you want a romantic meal, with a bit of spice!

Terrible customer service after I called and said he wont do anything for us! I would never recommend or go here again! £100 in the bin. Absolutely shocking service. Was greeted rudely by staff, and she didn't understand what we wanted…read moreas not many veg options had to go for sides options and she was very abrupt in the way she spoke to us. Service throughout by waitress was shocking. Not even a single time did she come over to ask if we needed anything or if everything was okay. Told to go to the bar to pay when I was ready and went there and nobody came for over 5 minutes of me waiting, even though staff were standing just behind me facing opposite direction. When I gave this feedback to staff, "boss" came out and was dismissive, rude and told me not to come back if I didn't like the poor service. Was not offered chocolates offered to all other customers as he did not like my feedback and told me that they "had work to do so to stop going on". Overall one of the worst experiences I have had in any restaurant and would never go back where customer service is so poor and clearly the customer is not always right when it doesn't suit the boss, even if the customer is right. Few doors away go to saffron. Better food, better service, better experience. Avoid the Gandhi restaurant!
