Hidden in the middle of this plethora of Indian and Bangladeshi foods is Nazma. With its neon lighting and curtained window, it looks quite classy. And that's confirmed when you enter - white tablecloths and an attentive maître d' who will get you seated and even pull out the table for easier entry. The menu is quite wide with a variety of curry dishes with the super hot Vindaloo and the classic Madras, Kurma and Dupiaza. Starters include Aloo Chat (spiced potato), Chicken Chat (spicy chicken) and Onion Bhaji (spiced onion pieces, shaped with flour, rolled and then fried). Since I'm on a low-carb eating regime, I started with the Chicken Tikka (spiced and oven baked) which came with a salad on the side. Very delicious, just the right temperature and spiciness. My friend had the Chicken Pakora (spiced, battered and fried). He said it was not too greasy and very flavorful. For mains, I decided to order from the House Specials list. Murgh Massala is minced lamb and tandoori chicken. I also had a dish of Aloo Gobi (potato and cauliflower), picking just the bits of cauliflower. When the Massala was set down, I was concerned because it smelled very spicy, but after I started to dig in, the subtle flavors of the chicken and lamb melted on my tongue. Delicious. It was so good that I have no idea what my friend had for his mains. We were well stuffed, so skipped out on the desserts (chocolates and ice creams, etc). The pint glass of Kingfisher was nicely poured and served in a proper logo'ed glass. I assume they also have Cobra and Mongoose. Tip: Indian food is easy to splash and drip. It's also quite oily, so when you end up wearing some of it, it's going to stay a while. Either tuck your napkin in like a bib or wear something that hides spills! Nazma was very good food and I would absolutely return!

But having ordered food for delivery, I hope that it stays around now for a long time, the food I had was some of the best curry I've had in Norwich. I opted for a Naga Lamb (I like it HOT) and Chicken Shatkora. The former was rich and delicious, with the characteristic Naga burn. It wasn't just fire though, there was a really great balanced flavour. The latter is pretty unique to Bhaji, the citrus flavour the novel ingredient imparts was complemented with a fresh tasting sauce with a little fire of its own. I'm really impressed with Norwich Bhaji; having grown up in the outskirts of Leeds and Bradford, I was spoilt growing up with some really amazing Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi cuisine. This evening, Norwich Bhaji matched the quality of the old haunts I used to go to. I'll be ordering again, trying some of their other exciting dishes from the Specials section. The premises are decorated in the 'curry house style' without being kitschy and the Indian muzak played is not too loud - actually I've become quite fond of it! Thanks to the division of the place into three separate areas it is possible to accommodate couples as well as larger parties without the one disturbing the other. The customer service is second to none (hot towels and complimentary chocolates) and the staff are very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It does however get very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, so there may well be quite a wait in between courses. On these nights I recommend visiting after 8.30pm. The menu offers a great selection of traditional dishes for both starters and main courses, as well as a selection of specials - I can heartily recommend the tandoori mixed grill (served with a naan bead), the garlic lamb and the chicken chana. The vegetable side dishes, rices and breads are all of exceptional quality. Everything is served in very generous portions. Don't leave room for dessert, it's not worth it. There is bottled and draught beer available as well as wine and softdrinks. The full menu is available to take away for which there is a 10% discount and only a half hour wait from order to collection.

Slap bang in the bright lights of Cherry Hinton High Street, this is your best bet alongside some rather run of the mill takeaway options. I particularly fondly remember their Biriyani with egg omelette on top which always hit the spot. I have tried other things there too, and are always of a high standard. The staff supply everything in a curteous, organised manner and its always pleasing to see them busy on a weekend evening as this place deserves success.
