This is a wonderful family owned local jeweler ! We've been using them for multiple years and although I have noticed that they have several unsatisfactory reviews, the reviews are always around sizing and jewelry "not" purchased from the store, so I don't feel like that gives the true evaluation of the store itself. Over the course of maybe 7 to 10 years. I've had a dozen watches fixed here. I've had batteries replaced. I've had jewelry sized up and down. Last week, I left a broken ring set that I've had for 30 years with them and had one diamond replaced had a new diamond put in from a diamond that was actually cracked. They took my engagement ring and my wedding band and actually combined it into one ring as a new piece of jewelry instead of soldering the two bands together. They also paired it with a very complementary solid swirl anniversary band, which is absolutely stunning! The week was filled with anticipation waiting for the jewelry to come back and I wanted it sized down just a little bit more and they were able to do that within a couple of hours today. So all this to say, do not let some of those reviews discourage you. I feel like we're in a world where people want a lot, but don't want to pay for good work. This store does awesome work! I've been dealing with Mark Flynn, the owner, for years when it comes to anything jewelry related. I have purchased multiple items and never had to take them in for repair/s, etc. I have had beautiful custom pieces made-again with no issues. I get so many watch batteries taken care of there as well as watch repair. I get my jewelry cleaned there-and if a problem was spotted like needing prongs repaired on a ring, etc., they take care of it for me. Most recent, I have a cross pendant that I've had for 25yrs. (purchased from another jeweler), while being cleaned, a couple of stones fell out. Mark repaired it and it is as beautiful as the day I purchased it. I'm so thankful because it is one of my most cherished pieces. I should also mention that they have stunning jewelry in their cases. However, if you do not find something, they are known for their custom jewelry designs. I'm pretty sure if you can think of it, it can be made by Mark. I look through these reviews and it's disheartening. Because, as someone else stated in their own review...it seems most of the negative feedback is regarding Criterion working on a piece that was purchased somewhere else. Also, most all of the negative reviews are 7-8yrs old. Which sadly brings Criterion's overall rating down. Which is exactly why I felt the need to give a much needed 'ATTABOY'! I firmly believe in giving 'ATTABOYS' when they're due. However, I've been giving them to Mark and Criterion directly in person. I hope people will give more attention the good reviews and PRAISES. I took a ring there to make sure it was a genuine aquamarine since it was very large and had been so cheap on ebay. Ebay will give you your money back if what is sold to you is not as described. I was also buying a new battery for a watch. I did not ask for an appraisal. I just wanted to make sure it was a true aquamarine. The owner looked at it thru a device he had. He said no it is not an aquamarine. I was disappointed and was going to get back with ebay saying the seller had sold me a fake ring. There was just something about the owner of Criterion I didn't trust. I took it to 2 other jewelers and they both told me it was a very nice aquamarine and it is rare to get one that big. Over the past 30 years I have worked with several Jewelry shops around the southeast, and none have matched the experience, professionalism, and customer service like Criterion Diamonds. I recently dropped off my 1965 tri-date Wakmann Chronograph to be serviced. Mark quoted me a fair price and went to work. They ran into some complex challenges during the service, but their experience and skill prevailed. After asking several jewelers in town to re-set a fragile large natural Emerald (that had fallen out of its mounting) I was turned away every time because of the risks envolved... I took a chance and stopped by to ask yet again... another jeweler. I was pleasantly surprised at the care and attention the jeweler (and owner) spent overlooking my stone. When he agreed to try and set my stone, I placed my trust in his hands and prayed for the best. Within a few minutes (!!), he presented my ring, re-set and in perfect condition and beautifully polished! I held back tears as I tried it on for the first time in over a year. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERIVCE AND THE WORST PLACE TO EVER BUY JEWELRY THEY ARE SO CHEAP! We bought our engagement ring from JC Penny and they wanted 3 weeks to size it. So I took it over to Criterion Diamonds to have the size it for me since I had heard good things about them they were able to size the engagement ring for me for $60 dollars and I was taking the ring from a size 7 to a size 10. they also created a wedding band for me to match the ring that cost me $300. So in total we paid $360 for the sizing and the wedding band. We went in September of 2015 and we told them we needed the wedding band and engagement ring ready by November 1st 2015; because we were getting married November 7th 2015. They did not have my wedding band ready until the NIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING! it was supposed to be a size 10 and they sized it to a freaking 9 which I could not get on my finger. They wanted another $60 to resize the wedding band. They don't do refunds I was FURIOUS! I have now had my engagement ring fixed 4 times!!!!!!!!!!! The pictures I have attached to their sight are of my ring. They sized it with fake silver causing the actual sterling silver of the ring to turn a discolored black which you can see in one of the photos. I just had them fix the broken band for the 3rd time in August 2016! Yesterday September 22, 2016 it broke AGAIN! this time the shaft they used to size it completely broke. IM SO FURIOUS WITH THEIR QUALITY OF WORK AND CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE! My fiancé bought my engagement ring here. I was thrilled with it, and loved the center stone being an Old European Cut stone. I also loved it was custom made and I knew no one else had my exact ring. Everything was fine until shortly after we got married. A small diamond was missing one morning when I looked down. At this point I'd had the ring 1 year and 3 months. We went into Criterion Diamond expecting to have them fix it free of charge as it should last longer then that amount of time. We were charged 40.00 to have the small diamond replaced. They said they only provide a one year warranty on the jewelry. I was ok thinking it would be a one time thing. I even had it cleaned and assumed it would be checked over to make sure no other diamonds were loose or close to falling out. I tried speaking with a sales rep there about what could have caused it so I could be extra careful in the future. I was told it can just get caught on things sometimes and come loose. During that trip my husband and I even picked 2 bands I wanted and were planning to purchase them in the near future. The following week I look down at my ring and another different diamond is gone. I couldn't believe it. Hadn't they checked it over?! Yes we have the ring insured but for a tiny diamond replacement of 40 dollars it's not worth taking a claim out. I've yet to go in and pay 40 to have it fixed as I am waiting for another to fall out and make my trip a bit more worth it. We live 45 minutes away. We will not be getting my bands there, deciding instead to go with a more familiar name that has a lifetime warranty on their jewelry. I'm sad this happened as they make beautiful stuff but if you cannot trust it to stand the test of time, why buy there? read more

I am so grateful Mark Flynn from Criterion Diamonds helped me! The day before Thanksgiving I lost my wedding ring. I was devastated. You see when my husband and I were married 15 years, he upgraded my diamond. At 29 years of marriage my husband upgraded my wedding set with Mark's creation while keeping my upgraded diamond. I loved my ring. I had dropped a couple of pounds and my ring was getting loose. Then it happened, I lost my ring. I was in mourning. Sounds silly I know, maybe even extremely shallow. I get it. But I still was so sad. I went to Mark and told him what had happened. Mark talked to the insurance company and sent what the claims department needed to complete their paperwork. Then Mark called me to let me know he found a beautiful diamond if I wanted to look at it. My husband and I went to Criterion Diamonds and spent a couple of hours looking at the diamond and different wedding ring designs. Mark was so patient with me. While looking through different pictures of rings in Mark's books and on Pinterest I finally saw "the ring". Mark ordered the parts he needed to make "the ring". He called me to let me know it was ready on Christmas Eve morning. I rushed over to get it. Then the workers in the store told me Mark stayed until 5:00 am making my ring for me so I would have it for Christmas Day. I am grateful and blessed that Mark did more than expected to help me and my husband with the insurance claim, finding the beautiful diamond, and creating a spatular wedding set. This January, my husband and I will be celebrating 31 years of marriage. So I may have had different rings, but I am blessed to still have the same husband. I dropped my wedding ring set into Criterion Diamonds in Hiram on a Thursday to have missing diamond replace and prongs re-tipped (A few of the prongs were pretty messed up. Mark has a digital magnifier so he was able to show me the damage on screen. Very cool!) I chose a slightly larger diamond than the original so Mark had to expand the prongs a bit. I wore my rings while doing a lot of manual work over the years so they were bent and no longer round. When I dropped them off, he told me he'd have them done within the week. Well, I got a call two days later saying that they were ready. Went in to pick them up Sat.....beautiful job. Nice round rings, beautiful and shiney!!! THE ABSOLUTE WORST! Do not give these people your business unless you feel like showing up to your wedding with NO wedding band and being consistently lied to in the process. My fiancé had this company design my engagement ring and his wedding band. He had to take his band back THREE times and it still is not right. He wanted to add my birthstone to the inside of his ring, which they forgot each of the three times, on top of the ring looking nothing like the pictures he showed them. Unfortunately, he still trusted them to make my wedding band. It was made very clear from day one of our wedding date and the date the band was needed by. My fiancé paid the deposit and was told the band would be ready in time giving them two whole weeks to make it. He called the shop multiple times making sure it would be ready in time to be told, "the stones were in and just needed to be set", and "yes it will be ready". Come the day he is set to pick it up he gives them a call and is told Mark is out on lunch. No big deal he calls back an hour later to be told, "he broke his leg while out on lunch and has called out for the next two days". To which my fiancé calls back again to get his money back to be told this time, "he is going to a trade store tomorrow to buy the diamonds for the ring." All of these responses within one hours time! This ring was supposed to be ready on a Saturday for our wedding to follow on a Monday, and now I get to get married with no band thanks to this company that so clearly has no moral compass and does nothing but give people the run around. Went to another place of business who said my gold actually weighed 11.5 grams and according to the price of gold that same day, they handed me $160 for the exact same gold necklace. HORRIBLE SERVICE! !!!! I got a custom wedding band made from here and one of my diamonds fell out. I went up there to see if they could fix it and they said no because my warranty was up. It had been over a year since my purchase by a few months. They said it would cost $60 to replace a tiny diamond which is outrageous!! That is almost a 3rd of the total price of the ring. Then I asked if I bring a diamond in could they install it for free. They said they might work with me on price and they don't cut diamonds there. The jewelry designer is Very arrogant and snobby. At first glance Criterion Diamonds might not have the biggest selection, but they excel at beautiful custom made rings and cut diamonds. The engagement ring and diamond I was going to buy at Shane Co. was going to cost me 4,500 dollars but the same exact style ring, diamond with the same qualities, AND the wedding ring cost me only 2,200. They were friendly, helpful, and worked hard to find the perfect ring and rock that was within my price range. I cannot rate this store high enough. read more

Had an engagement ring and band set custom made. The ring itself was late being finished. The matching wedding and anniversary bands were made at incorrect sizes. To conclude, one of the diamonds in one of the bands is sunken into the ring itself - Oh and the bands were late AND one of them was incredibly too small. I called and complained about it and the owner asked me to come meet him there late in the evening. The owner let me in while he worked on the bands. Spoiler alert - the diamond on the band was still sunken. Also, I think he was on a date or something while working on my ring because there was a woman in there with him that he clearly had no background with considering the nature of their conversations... Whole thing was really odd and out of place. Not to mention that after spending a ton of money on this set, they wouldn't even appraise the ring. *The icing on the cake* - They told me we get lifetime cleanings and re-dips since we purchased the ring there, but when my wife went in to have it done, they rescinded the offer. DO NOT get ANY hand made jewelry from CRITERION DIAMONDS! They will take a year, NEVER follow up with you and you will have to follow up after they said they would and don't, tell you it will be done next Friday and then that date passes and then they will say next Friday and continue the cycle. Not once but twice I had a ring designed from them for my wedding and the stones kept falling out. Not to mention, I did not have a ring for my wedding because they never started on my design because I apparently didn't respond to an email...EVER HEARD OF A PHONE? So I got my ring 2 months after I was married and it lasted a month and the stones kept falling out INCLUDING THE BIG STONE. We asked for a refund and they said NO only store credit, so I had them design a new ring. After a month into the design I was sent an email saying it would be 100% complete by next Friday. I did not get the ring until 4 months later...I again asked for a refund and they said no. So, I took the ring and had it all of 24 hours and 4 diamonds had fallen out. Again, I asked for a refund and they said no. I have been married for 10 months and I wear NO RING on my finger. Refusal for a refund, on 3 attempts, will be the worst thing they could have done. Worst business experience ever!!! Brought my watch in for repair I believe it was September 2016 the first time it was repaired. I had to take it back a couple of times. It wasn't fixed correctly. This brings us to about November 2016. First they said it wouldn't be ready by Christmas which was understandable. After Christmas I called numerous times to see if my watch was repaired. No one could give me status of my watch repair. No one ever returned my call, when I was told they would. Fast forward to January and still no word on my watch repair. I have called several times throughout the months. They kept saying they ordered the part. Today, April 14,2017, they finally returned my watch to me. The manager said they couldn't fix it. I asked for my forty dollars back. Which I paid to repair the watch. She told me it was past the 60 days warranty. How could it be past the 60 days when it was never fixed correctly? I wasn't even aware of the warranty. It's not printed on the receipt, nor did anyone tell me. Worst customer service ever. I thought they would have at the LEAST given me a refund, if not more. I had been getting the royal run-a-round for 5 months. I had been without my watch for an entire 5 months. Shame on them and the way they conduct business. Caveat Emptor! I've dealt with Criterion Designs Diamonds for a few years now.At first, they were good. However, something significant has changed. Do not leave a deposit! For one, you'll play hell getting it back. In fact, you will have to pursue through legal means. The owner, Mark will simply ignore calls, request and all pleading. His staff will divert and delay for him. If you expect your item or design to be ready on time, forget it! There is no customer service after the sale. You will be treated with such indignity. You can't treat people this way and expect to maintain a healthy business. Word gets around! read more

I just had a horrible experience. I gave them a .22 diamond and a emerald cut blue topaz stones to put into a pendant. When I picked it up the diamond could not have been.04 points and the stone was all scratched up and wrong color. Neither were the stones I gave them. When the diamond was caught, I was given "well that solved the mystery of the stone that is just sitting on my desk" it just happened to be the .22 pts but was it my clarity???? Then when I examined my emerald stone by taking a picture and comparing it to one I took before giving it to them, it could have been blue glass that was all scratched up as far as I could tell, it just was not mine. I should have called the police for theft! Still not sure if I have my stones. Would NEVER trust them again. Plus they quoted me $489 to size a 14k gold ring up 3 sizes when another place quoted me $199!!! They are crooked! read more

stay away!!!! from this fraud place!!!! they don't care about you.. the owner mike and his girl friend that pretend she is a general manager are so dishonest my wife and i bought a chain for $8,000 cuban link weight 275.10 gram 30 inch and 12 mm wide for them to cut out to 22 inch chain and 8'' inch to make a bracelet they grind the chain so much ,there is now several low spot in the chain they scratch and dent my chain and now the total gram of the chain and bracelet is 272 gram because the grind it so much. we took it to another jewelry store said they over polish it and damage it which will be explain in court. they had charge $400 for the project we gave them $200 deposit when we explain our dis-satisfaction they offer to refund us the $200 deposit and $30 for the 3 gram of gold they grind off the chain. not only the 275 gram chain is now 273 gram the chain is now 11.7 in with instead of 12mm they have alter the chain in every way they try to add gold to the low spot and left it just like that . we are taking them to court since they have not respond to our attorney request i have picture of the item and i have them recorded when my wife was at the store with every thing. for your own good stay !!!away !!!they don't care that is they have several bad review here is my number Dodley 770-731-8122 will put them on every site i can find for this fraud business. read more
