The weather was super comfortable that night so we opted to sit outside. The server greeted us right away and was very pleasant. We started with some yummy warm bread and oil. You can never go wrong with that! Shortly after, our meals came out and the presentation was absolutely lovely! Flavors were very good. My chicken could have used a bit less cook time but otherwise very good. We did have to cut out time a little shorter because as soon as the sun gets low, the mosquitoes come out. I recommend sitting in the dining room for dinner.

I'm not sure why they have under a 4.0 rating. Service and food was amazing. We lucked onto this place while picking up some items we bought. Busy for a Tuesday but got sat quickly. Very cute outside area but we sat inside. They have a small menu but with lots of options. Sever gave good recommendations. We both had a soup and the bread and oil brought was delish.y cream of mushroom was rich and warming. For entrees bf had fish and chips and I got the pork tenderloin. These names don't do the items we got justice. Legit so good and really some interesting ways to do it. My pork was wrapped in prosciutto and served over the best potato croquette huge creamy fresh ingredients inside. The tomato sauce with it was delightful. So good!! My bf loved the fish it was huge. We will def go back. Glad to have found this place.

Everything was very yummy. Love the food and staff. Can't go wrong here. Nestled on McGregor you Can pass it buy. So keep looking it is worth the visit. Loved the atmosphere and great food too. Highly recommend the Quiche Lorraine & key lime pie.

Nice food and service in a pretty outside setting. We started with mussels. They were slightly spicy and very flavorful. I had the scallops with risotto. The dish had 3 large blackened scallops and a large portion of risotto. My wife had the shrimp and grits. 6 nice sized shrimp and a large portion of grits. I had the key line pie for dessert. Our server wax Josh.

Real southern feel to this place. Good inside bar and plenty of inside or outside seating. Pretty basic food. Cooked well and not outstanding choice. They have vehicles burger if you are not careful. Seems always busy with what seems like older crowd and families. Seating on the porch seems good spot. Parking easy and service good

Chicken Toscano!

Went for a dinner at Cristof's on McGregor Blvd. This is a formerly an old house converted to a restaurant with wrap around porch and outside dining area. This is off season; we got seated immediately without any delay! We opted to dine inside instead on the porch due to impending rain! We ordered grilled chicken Toscano with roasted red peppers, artichoke and spinach smothered with melted cheese on a bed roasted dice red potato. Huge portion, took half home. Hubby, ordered his seafood, shrimp, clams, roasted red pepper, spinach with angel hair pasta. Huge portion but he finished the dish with a cold beer! We enjoyed the warm complimentary bread. The wait staff are very friendly, professional and with quick service!

Great service. We had a reservation for 7 people on a weeknight. Lots of outdoor tables. Propane heaters were scattered throughout the table area. Indoor seating and bar is also an option. We tried several appetizers prior to our meals arriving. My favorite was the bruschetta. Seafood, burgers, steaks, pastas as well as salads are on the me. Waitstaff were attentive throughout the meal.

Red snapper with rice and papaya salsa. Nice little kick to it without being too spicy.

I have been here many times over the years and the food is always good. Service is excellent. They really hustle to take care of you. Had the red snapper special this time - We usually come for lunch, but I am definitely going to have to come back for dinner. Parking can fill up. the dining outside is quite nice even though it is on a busy road. Can be loud inside when it is busy. Will definitely be back!

Jazz themed art all over the walls which was really neat. We went at a time where they were very busy but we didn't have to wait long for any items. Calamari with the dipping sauce was to die for. Not a fan of the bread and oil, the oil seemed a little odd with some sweetness I wasn't ready for, almost like it had citrus influence. Got the special, seafood risotto. It was really good but again the key lime risotto took a minute to get used to but it actually worked well. Had to add some pepper but otherwise it was a good meal for a good price.

Tonight, my fiance and I, along with a couple of friends, enjoyed a delightful dinner at Christoph's on McGregor. Housed in a beautifully remodeled turn-of-the-century home, the restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly compliments the dining experience. We ordered lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs, scallops with risotto, Caprese salad, warm bread, cheesecake, and homemade Key lime pie. The lasagna was, as always, delicious and served in a generous portion. The spaghetti came with impressively large meatballs--definitely enough to share--and was packed with flavor. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the risotto was wonderfully creamy. The cheesecake however lacked flavor, but the homemade key lime pie was amazing! It was a fantastic meal in a charming setting--truly a wonderful evening!

The reason my photos are inferior is because we sat outside -- I love al fresco dining! -- and it got progressively darker. See! It was still a little light when salad was served, but when the entrees arrived, it was past dusk. It was a five-star evening because of the company and setting, but a 3.5-star meal. Here's my take: *** My husband and I shared a house salad. Nothing special except maybe carrot strips. All dressings are homemade, and ranch didn't disappoint. *** It was listed as 'salmon with creamy crawfish sauce.' I stressed that the salmon be cooked rare, almost seared. (It wasn't.) Luckily -- since I ended up not liking it -- I asked that the sauce be on the side. Spinach is a wonderful vegetable that's easy to jazz-up. This spinach, a mound sitting on the fish, was cooked. No garlic, no taste. Perhaps it would've been better with crawfish sauce as the chef envisioned. But since I didn't like the sauce, it likely would've "contaminated" the vegetable. All this was sitting on mashed potatoes, which also left me cold. Note to self: order something different next time. *** T ordered seafood scampi, a special of the night. He liked it. Yay! Four stars. *** The wine list covers a good range. I gave T a choice of Pinot Grigio or Malbec, both less than $35. He went with Malbec which was easy-sipping and great with our meals. Cristof's is a popular restaurant. Based on a Thursday night during "season," reservations are imperative. Ask for a table out front or on the porch. There's a big parking lot behind, which may be filled. If it is, per an employee, "grab what you can!" Park on the grass, parallel park on the side. You'll find something!

Party of six for Valentines dinner. I had called the restaurant two times after making my initial reservation back in December where I requested seating on their outdoor porch. When I called back the first time in January to confirm, I was told they didn't see any reservation and they would take care of it. When I called back the second time I got the same story but this time I actually got the name of an employee which I wrote down and she said we were all set for a party of six on the porch. When we arrived on February 14, the reservation only stated outside And did not mention porch where there were no more available seats. Cristoffs has a lovely ambience to the setting and the porch is a lovely place to dine and I see no excuse for the mixup that occurred. We ended up on the outside patio, which turned out to be fine Even though there was a slight chance of rain. Took a while to get our server to our table, but when he did, he was efficient in a blah kind of way. after our drinks arrived, we ordered our meals which consisted of two servings of grilled fresh grouper, which was one of their daily specials, filet mignon, lamb, shank, and a shrimp pasta dish. The appetizers of Caprese salad and fried green tomatoes were good too excellent and the Caprese salad was huge. Everything was going fine until our meals arrived when one of the orders of grouper came out practically raw and then it took almost 20 minutes for it to return and the french fries that accompanied it came out another five minutes after the grouper appeared. All of our meals deserved more than three stars, and we were all quite satisfied except for the uncooked fish on one order. I might also add that their French baguette and dipping sauce was quite excellent. I would gladly return but would be more careful in requesting special seating as in having them repeat what the request is. The food for the most part was four star, and it was unfortunate we had the misunderstanding on seating and properly cooked fish

Do they actually take reservations? I've been calling for three days... no answer just a recording

They do take reservations and you will want them as the restaurant gets quite busy. I've also had troubles with getting someone to answer the phone. Try calling around 5ish.

Do you happen to make cheese grits and shrimp for an entree?

They have shrimp and grits on the menu. Not sure about cheese in the grits, but you could ask them. Looked delicious.

We've lived in this town for more than 40 years and have never dined at this restaurant. I don't know what it looked like in the past, but it doesn't feel like they have changed their menu or their pricing in ages. Service was great, the food was ok, and the drinks were mediocre. It was nice to check this off our bucket list, but I don't see us going back. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't worth a second trip to us. The restaurant was buzzing with people. I can see why it is a staple in the community, we just prefer something a little more memorable.

We gathered there after my dad's funeral -- a day filled with emotion, memories, and the kind of silence that only family understands. Sitting by the river, watching the water move while the sun softened across the sky, felt like a gentle reminder that life keeps flowing even when our hearts feel heavy. The food was genuinely excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and served in a way that let us relax instead of rush. But what made the experience stand out was the atmosphere. Open views, a calm waterfront breeze, and a space that allowed laughter, reflection, and connection all at the same table. Sometimes you don't just choose a restaurant -- you choose a moment. And this place gave us a peaceful one when we needed it most. If you're looking for a riverside spot in Fort Myers where good food meets meaningful atmosphere, Oxbow Bar & Grill is worth the visit. Sleek granite countertops, copper salt and…read morepepper mills, that upscale-casual waterfront vibe without the water-- Oar & Iron looks the part. But looks, my friends, will only get you so far. Before we even get to the food, let's address the strangest thing I've ever encountered at a restaurant: there is no complimentary water. None. You want water? That'll be two dollars per person--for filtered water. Not bottled Evian. Not fancy sparkling from the Alps. They're filtering tap water and charging you two bucks a head for it. I've dined at a lot of places, and I have genuinely never seen this move. We passed on principle--but imagine sitting down for a nice meal and being told basic hydration is an upcharge. Absolutely bizarre. We kicked things off with the calamari, served up on a long plate with a creamy dipping sauce. Crispy, decent flavor, no complaints on execution. But the portion? Twenty-one dollars. Twenty-one dollars for what amounts to about five bites each if you're splitting it. At that price point, I'm expecting a generous pile of golden fried goodness, not a modest arrangement that leaves you still hungry. The short rib gnocchi had promise--rich, beefy flavor in that sauce, pillowy gnocchi, fresh parsley and shaved parm on top. It wanted to be a star. But here's the thing: half the short rib pieces were more fat than meat, and the portion left us wondering if the kitchen was rationing. Good bones on this dish, but it needs more love in the execution. Now, my wife's scallop risotto. Beautiful presentation--golden seared scallops perched on creamy rice with fresh arugula. Looks like a magazine cover, right? Wrong. It arrived missing ingredients. Just... incomplete. And that's where service comes in. Speaking of which: our server was MIA for the first half of the meal. Questions unanswered, that "are we invisible?" energy. Things improved later, but first impressions matter, and ours was rough. The Verdict: Oar & Iron wants to play in the upscale dining league, but it's not earning the price of admission. No free water--and charging for filtered tap? A $21 appetizer that barely qualifies as a snack? Fatty short ribs, an incomplete dish, and a server who forgot we existed the first half of our meal? This one drops to two stars. Style over substance, and not enough of either.
