The Royal Hotel - The bar in the dining room

It gets busy on weekend so I highly recommend that you make a reservation to ensure seating. It was pretty lively the night we were there so service was a bit spotty, but all told pretty great meal. Very tasty steak. The duck was ok but a bit dry. The appetizers were also good although a little unexpected. I.e. they didn't come out quite like we thought that they were described. So maybe do take a little extra time to quiz your server on what it is you are ordering. All around though lovely experience and we would go back again. Check out the photos for what we ate.

Overall rating 3.5/5 (rounded down on Yelp)…read more We were very much looking forward to dining at the Royal Hotel during a recent trip to Prince Edward County, especially after seeing positive social media posts & reviews. The decor and ambiance of the hotel and restaurant are gorgeous. It gave us Anthropologie/modern secret garden vibes with warm mood lighting and cozy patio benches that truly elevated the dining experience. In terms of service, the host was prompt and for most of our meal, service was attentive. We did notice that when we were mostly finished eating, service quality decreased (e.g., no more unprompted water refills or checking in to see if we were done/wanted dessert). Not sure if it was because the restaurant got busier? The most important part, though, is the food. Unfortunately, this did not meet our expectations. While the presentation was beautiful, the main issue we had was that every dish was too salty (especially the tartare and pasta), making it difficult to taste all the flavours. Personally, I was disappointed by the pappardelle because I couldn't taste anything other than cream and salt, and I found that the pasta itself was a bit too thick and threw off the balance of the dish. Presentation also didn't seem to be consistent, as you can see in the photo with the two exact same pasta dishes that one looked significantly more well-presented (top). Hoping that this is just a one-off incident because I would love to return if the food improves.

I was only looking for a small cottage for my boyfriend and I, but you can also rent larger ones for a family or a group of friends. When we arrived, the managerial staff were friendly and informative. One of the main reasons why we choose this spot was b/c they allow dogs. We booked cottage #1 that was private and right on the water. The only "complaint" (which is not really a complaint) is that it gets a lot of sun, so if you want to sit outside, you may want to bring an umbrella. There are communal areas that include a firepit, pool and playground. There is also a dock where you can bring your own boat (I think) or rent one. A lot of people go fishing. My boyfriend and I had booked a wine tour, and there was no problem with being picked up or dropped off from this location. It's a little bit far from the town of Picton. It's about a 30-40 min walk, which can be deadly in the heat. It's a very quick drive, but not easy to walk around. The studio cottage was spacious, and had everything you needed. There was a BBQ and we cooked most of our meals there. They have cable TV, which I was surprised about. It was fairly clean, and the air conditioner worked well, which was nice on the hot days. You have to bring your own bed sheets, beach towels and toiletries, but they have everything else.

I'm giving this place a 3 instead of 5 because it is VERY expensive, like double the price of motels actually on the water and that's just because it's been on TV. This motel has no pool and no ice machine, because of these 3 reasons I don't think it's worth the price. The bugs outside were also VERY BAD which is to be expected but they are attracted to light and there's no option to turn off outside light so everytime we opened the door at least 100 bugs would fly in! Adorable decor, friendly staff , Complimentary s'mores and bonfire each night. Broken tv, no pool, expensive No ice machine

If you're a fan of the show, then it's a must. Also be ready with your phones out to get all the pics! Perfect for a girls trip. Free rose (or non-alcoholic drink) on check-in. The lobby is super cute, but tinier than I had imagined. They also have an outdoor space with a fire where you can enjoy smores in the evening. It was smokey and rainy during our stay, so we did not use the area. Options for contactless check-in and check-out, with lots of text reminders. Check-in is at 4pm with no options to check-in earlier (we tried though!) The place was not that busy when we were there, but I imagine it could get pretty loud and busy in peak season. The room is definitely cute! All the essentials included, including the best body oil. Beds were ok and the noise machine was a nice touch. It's a bit of a splurge for a hotel room, but definitely check it out if you want to try out something different! Looking forward to checking out the Sauble Beach location in the future!

Docks are in fair condition and there is shore power and water at the slips. They do not sell fuel or pump out, but a marina close by provides these services. Transient slip prices were fair. Not much of a store on site, but they do sell ice. It is only a short walk into town where boaters/cruisers can find plenty of stores to purchase groceries and otherwise provision. Only one employee seems to be on duty at any given time. The marina did not answer their VHF radio but they did answer the phone as we entered the harbor in the pouring rain and someone did come out to greet us and assist with docking. Outdated washroom on site - we preferred to shower in our boat. No laundry facilities. The marina is pretty basic, but worth the stay as the town of Picton is worth the visit. I was turned off at the response I got from the marina attendant while paying for our transient slip upon our arrival. The weather forecast for the following morning was calling for heavy rains in the morning but promising clear skies in the early afternoon. After having noticed many vacant slips, I asked how strict they are on there check out policy - we would have liked to stay an additional hour or so until the rains were expected to stop the following day, before continuing on our cruise. I was told we must be out of the slip at check out time or be charged another night. I could understand that if the marina was booked, but there must have been at least 10 slips available. We made our way out in the rain the next morning, which stopped about an hour later. I would stay here again but without wild expectations.
