At the end of our meals, the cake was brought out, no knife, no plates. He asked after I blew out the candles (that my mom brought) if we wanted the cake cut and he would take it to the back to have it sliced. I said no I want to cut it myself and that was fine with him. When we got our check, a $25 fee was added to our bill for the cake. We were not made aware of the add on whatsoever. I think if they would've mentioned from the get go that we had to pay for my cake to be brought out we would've declined and kept the cake with us.

The Calloway house is beautiful and is well kept. There are many original pieces in the house from 1916. The tour was excellent and the guide answered all your questions. We had a couple appetizers while waiting as well... The spinach and cheese stuffed bread, baked Brie and pimento cheese dip. All excellent, and some of the best pimento cheese dip we have had. When we finally got seated, we ordered a couple wine flights and the bruschetta pasta for dinner along with the pecan crusted chicken wrap. The chicken seemed a little dry but the wrap was still fresh and tasty. I have been there before and love the winery. It's about 70 minutes south of Atlanta and honestly, when you exit the highway, you may think that you've made the worst 70 minute drive of your life (only because it's super country), but about 8 minutes from the exit, you find yourself in Downtown LaGrange. When I pulled up to the Del'avant Event Center, I immediately fell in love with the building. It had the elements that I was looking for; exposed bricks that gives the venue a NYC feel, hardwood floors, bridal suite, rooftop space for cocktail hour, ceremony space, parking deck for the guests etc. My fiance at the time and I met with the Venue Manager, Anna. At first, I wasn't sure Anna would be able to fulfill our wedding venue needs. She was late for our initial meeting and when she did show up, she had her sick daughter on her hip the entire time, however, after about an hour, Anna reeled us in and I fell in love with the Del'avant. The $3000 that we paid included the entire venue from 8 a.m. to midnight, use of the bridal and groom suites, a venue hostess who assisted with on the day needs, round, rectangle and high tables, chivari chairs, chaise loungers, accent chairs etc. We loved it!!
