And I wasn't wrong! The tour lasted about 90 minutes (and it leaves promptly FYI) and takes you along the shoreline of Amelia Island - past the shrimping boats and past a Civil War era fort - before heading towards Cumberland Island National Seashore. This is where the true fun of the tour was for me. I had no idea really the history of the island and found it fascinating how the Carnegies and Rockefellers and more of the country's elite used this random Georgia seashore as their private escape. The history of both Cumberland and Amelia Islands is incredibly fascinating and the guides for both the Florida and Georgia sides respectively were well informed and personable. Plus - you'll very likely see a ton of great wildlife throughout including dolphins and wild horses and pigs. It's a great way to spend an afternoon in the area and a fabulous introduction to Cumberland Island National Seashore/Park.

Well worth it though for the views, the incredible wildlife and the history. Mother Nature has control over what wildlife you will view not Sea Serpent, so just sit back and enjoy the knowledge, the history and the company of your fellow boat mates. We were privileged to go on the airboat tour and honored for the alligators, turtles, Ospreys, snakes and other wildlife that were out for viewing. It will not disappoint!

So we rescheduled for mid-May. This time, everyone made it;))) We arrived a few minutes before the boat launched. It was extra crowded as we were told another tour company cancelled, so they let those customers on our boat. It was tight, but we were ready for some fun! We were moving along on Matanzas Bay about 10 minutes. I went to the restroom and noticed some open space in the back of the boat. I went back to the front and got me friends and that's where we hung out the remainder of the boat ride. I'm not a fan of restricted space, so this move felt great! We saw dolphins and an amazing sunset. We went under the Lions Bridge, went by the St Augustine Lighthouse and Castillo de San Marcos. I can't explain how absolutely perfect the weather was that night. But if I go again, I will choose mid-May! Not too hot or humid. The staff was fabulous and friendly! There was a tonnnnn of them. Didn't see manatees this time but I don't think they are as common as the dolphins as that's where the dolphins live and reside. It was a great way to start your morning and my 8 year old son absolutely loved it. We don't support seeing dolphins in captivity and he also explained how horrible it is having them in captivity. This is a great way to experience seeing dolphins without the exploitation of dolphins. Highly recommend and would absolutely do this again if I came to town again.
