    Fish & chips

This would be a five star review if it was based solely on the freshness and quality of the food. This a a cute little shop right in the harbor on the waterfront. We entered the fish shop / restaurant and it was busy, there's only about seven tables and a middle counter top area. No one greeted us and the tables were full so we just grabbed a seat at the middle counter top area. After five minutes I grabbed some menus, five minutes more and I went to the counter to order. After 5 minutes at the counter a woman asked if I was ordering food to go ( now this is my first contact with an employee in about 20 minutes of being there). I informed her that we were sitting at the counter and she said she would be over in a minute to take care of us. We ordered (finally) the fish and chips and a bowl of the clam chowder. Twenty minutes later a different woman dropped off the food and left; no conversation or can I get you anything else? The food was fresh and delicious, we throughly enjoyed it and when we were finished we waited another twenty minutes to pay; we finally went to the counter. On our way out the woman who took our order thanked us and said have a nice day. There were three or four woman working the counter and tables but the communication was just not there. Go for the food not the service, order something to go.

There are a few choices for seafood along the water in Crescent City but most are simple diners so don't expect pretty views and table cloths. The Crescent Seafood has an big menu that they serve from opening to closing. They say, "Fresh Seafood off the Boats and onto your Plates". They have a seafood case where they sell fish and shellfish and keep their seafood for the restaurant. Prices are good and service is nice. We ordered the cioppino and the seafood pasta primavera. They both happened to be made with the same sauce which has big chunks of tomatoes amongst the diced tomatoes. There was clams, mussels, prawns, and crab with the tomato sauce and herbs. The seafood pasta had all that and linguine. The shellfish was just was just warm. The tomato sauce was very warm but it didn't warm the rest. That's definitely not appealing and dropped the score. The server was nice and said she'd tell the cook but no offer to warm it up. The pasta and seafood in the primavera dish was warmed by pasta, I guess. The linguine seemed thick, like homemade, and was ok but tough. The bread was nicely grilled but also a bit tough. Overall, the food was ok. The other 3 people I saw order got the fish and chips or a sandwich. They seemed to enjoy them so it may just be what we ordered but these would definitely be on the Not Order Again list.

Crescent Seafood is a hidden gem located in the back of the Harbor. I want to say mostly locals and others who have visited prior come to this place. They have an extensive menu and also offer local fresh caught fish such as; rockfish, steelhead, halibut, king salmon, crabs, prawns, oysters, smoked fish etc. Visited on a Friday afternoon and somewhat busy. The Fish Sammy - I really enjoyed my Fish Sando - Seasoned and grilled Rock Fish fillet. I also ordered a side of fries. SUGESTION, ask for them extra hot and crispy because mine came out opposite. Since the order took longer than expected, I really didn't want to send them back. It should also be noted that I came with my partner and she ordered a clam chowder - which was ok, not great ehh decent but was first given stale oyster crackers. I thought they would've figured we wanted to eat at the same time but they sent the soup out first and I had to wait another 10 mins for my food. If you are in this predicament, ask for the food to come out at the same time. Other than that, I enjoyed my meal here. Come give them a try! Missing star- Slow service, fries not as hot as they should be, food came out at diffrent times, stale crackers

Solid hole in the wall restaurant. Highly recommend if you love seafood made the right way. Started with the garlic mussels, wow! Delicious. I could have drank the sauce leftover. I am a burger guy, and yes, I know it's a place known for its fish and chips... but man the burger was unreal! Pretty sure it's some sort of garlic aioli sauce. Very tasty and blew my mind. I had some of my wife's fish and chips and it pretty much melted in my mouth. There is a reason the locals come here, they know what amazing is. Hope to return again someday.

I'm sure I've mentioned before about how sharing is caring -- well, it also comes in pretty darn handy when there are too many delicious things on the menu and I can't decide ... Stopped in for a late lunch, so no problem getting a table. Service was super friendly. Clam chowder was great, not dairy free so I'm taking my husband's word. Crab cocktail was good - I'm a horseradish gal so was wishing for more in the cocktail sauce. The tacos were fantastic- we got 2 to share and immediately ordered 2 more. Could have gone for more but stopped there. Deli and bathroom in the back. Parking lot out front.

Sammy or Sandwich? Some of the absolute BEST seafood sandwiches I've ever had! This cute little shop is tucked away behind some store fronts, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. The service was a bit slow, but understandably considering how busy they were. We were greeted by some very nice women who were eager to make our experience enjoyable though. Started off with some fresh oysters which were 2.75 each, then proceeded to order the Oyster Sandwich (15.00): local pacific oysters lightly breaded and grilled served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and avocado on grilled sliced sourdough with garlic aioli, and Scallop Sammy (17.00): large buttery sea scallops lightly breaded and grilled served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and avocado on grilled sliced sourdough with garlic aioli. I don't often eat seafood sandwiches but this was a pleasant surprise. They stuffed the sandwiches with scallops and oysters, and it was actually a pretty delectable combination. I will definitely go back if I'm ever traveling towards the redwoods again! Yummy Seafood Sammys

If you're heading north, Crescent City is the last substantial stop before reaching the Oregon border. Even from Eureka, where we were staying for the weekend, it was a winding two-hour drive on the 101. We decided to find lunch up here after walking through the impressive Grove of Titans at Jebediah Smith Redwoods State Park. It was raining, and I decided to make a random left turn onto Citizens Dock Road where we saw commercial fishing boats all lined up on the city marina. That was when we took notice of this casual seafood spot at the end of Marine Way. We got lucky because not only were we able to snag a table among the hungry locals who braved the inclement weather, but the food turned out to be very good here. My meal started with the $7 cup of Clam Chowder which had the more watery consistency I prefer with an abundance of fresh clams. So good with the oyster crackers and a splooge or two of Tabasco (photo: https://bit.ly/3NH3pR6). Jamie went a different route and ordered the $12 Bang Bang Prawns, a dozen white prawns battered, fried, and served with a chili sauce (photo: https://bit.ly/3mJn2Md). Those were pretty succulent and quite addictive. Satisfying appetizers led to our entree salads. Jamie ordered the $18 Crab Louie (photo: https://bit.ly/3MFR8eq), while I went for the $15 Shrimp Louie (photo: https://bit.ly/3aInVlx). They both had the same base of lettuce, red onion, tomato, shredded carrot, shredded cheddar cheese, and toasted croutons with a side of thousand island dressing, but the key difference was the freshness of the Dungeness crab and bay shrimp. We were both quite sated for our long drive back to Eureka and genuinely impressed with the attentiveness of our server. Definitely a happy find way up north. FOOD - 4 stars...fresh seafood made a huge difference here AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...not fancy, tables a bit too close together SERVICE - 4.5 stars...very attentive TOTAL - 4 stars..,genuine seafood in Crescent City RELATED - Lost on the Lost Coast? Not too many choices in Crescent City. One might assume that one will find fresh local seafood, but one will be wrong. Service and food were mediocre. We each had a cup of clam chowder, was okay, and we shared the Halibut. Nice touch on the asparagus, halibut was over cooked. Would I come back, yes because the other options in town do not seem likely with the exception of the SeaQuake Brewery that was very good

Recommended by a local and totally worth it! Ordered the fried calamari appetizer which was a large portion, enough for a meal. My wife ordered the seared tuna and it was a very large portion. I got the sea scallops and they were cooked perfectly. I also got the grits and had never had grits prepared this way. Very tasty! Service was very friendly but could have been a little more attentive since it wasn't very busy.

So very very glad we decided to try Crescent Seafood! They are right near the dock, and sell seafood fresh off the boats, so I was half-expecting it to smell like the fish markets near home...very fish. I was pleased to discover it smelled briny and fresh...and the fish case showed off some gorgeous halibut, salmon, steelhead and prawns. Our food was hands-down top rung. The prawn taco was perfectly seasoned with just a little heat...the chowder was absolutely amazing, the calamari was tender, fabulously seasoned, and almost melted in my mouth. The halibut fish and chips was seriously the best I have had in YEARS. My only regret is that we're leaving Crescent City early in the morning because I would happily eat here every single day! Large menu, but they seem to do everything with emphasis on freshness and quality! Our server was adorable and attentive and was working her buns off to make sure we (and the other customers) had everything we needed. I wish I could give Crescent Seafood 10 stars!

Fresh that day halibut. No buts about it .

I got there Monday. The boats drop off the catch on Monday and Thursday. And what else do you need to know? You are not here for the view. You are here for the fish. I had the halibut. I would have come back a second time but for a power outage, which left me very sad not to do this again. Pleasant happy staff, stupid-good seafood, absolutely wonderful. Eat where the guys who fish, and are still wearing their rubber boots, come in to chow down. THIS is the kind of place you seek out of you are out for the seafood, not the fifty dollar view. I left a HUGE tip and walked out about as happy as a Florida-born seafood lover can get. Highly recommended.

I don't think we could have had a better experience visiting this spot! Our server was so friendly and helpful suggesting local places in the area to visit, she suggested a few different menu items. The crab cakes were seasoned well and perfectly crispy, there was a little bit of a wait due to so many customers I'm imagining because it's the best place to experience genuine seafood fresh from the bay here! If you have the time definitely stop in and grab some great food. I love the small town vibe, I felt like one of the locals here. Thanks crescent seafood I hope our family can visit again someday!

Stopped in for dinner while exploring nearby Pebble Beach and the Battery Point Lighthouse. Picked it based on Yelp reviews. It's kind of hidden on a side street by the Harbor District, near the docks. Plenty of parking available. Walked in and wasn't greeted or anything. Finally a guy behind the register told us to sit anywhere. We sat and waited for awhile before anyone brought us menus. Once menus and waters were brought, we decided to order the fire calamari, seaweed salad, a couple oyster shooters and the king salmon with smoked gouda sauce. Everything was just mediocre. Nothing wowed us. The king salmon was probably the best thing. Liked the seasoning they used...never tasted it before. Tasted sweet. Maybe honey?! The servers seemed confused...maybe they were new. The girl that brought my food left the paper meal ticket on the plate with my food when she served it to me...so weird. It had sauce all over it because it was partially tucked under my grilled salmon filet. Overall an unimpressive experience. Would most likely not return. There are plenty of other restaurants to chose from in the area.

Happy Sherryl over grilled Rick fish & grits plus asparagus stalks- done perfectly.
