I visited Brownswood Nursery for the first time and purchased several varieties of border shrubs in…read morethe spring and planted them in my well-amended garden bed. Despite proper sun and watering, withing several weeks one shrub started to turn brown. I brought it to the nursery when 3/4 of the bush was dead. I requested a replacement and was advised that I had over-watered the plant and it had develeped a fungus. I was further advised that they would offer a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT, AT 50% OF THE COST! This did not sit well with me but I needed another bush, so I reluctantly paid the additional cost and purchased fungal spray to have on hand. Within the next couple of weeks, another shrub as well as the replacement shrub started to turn brown. I administered the fungicide accordingly, but the plants did not respond and died. Upon calling the nursery and advising them of the situation, I was told this time that the shrubs had been UNDER-WATERED and that they only offered a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT. I have purchased many plants and shrubs over the years from other nurseries as well as at Home Depot, Lowes, and Costco, and have never experienced this deplorable level of customer service. If there is a problem, this nursery expects one to call with any issues so that they can give you the run around and BLAME YOU for the plants failure! I learned that Brownswood Nursery does not stand behind the quality of their merchandise. NEVER AGAIN!!

But they came by and examined our very tiny yard (cookie-cutter neighborhood in Moncks Corner), gave us a very reasonable quote and told us to call when we were ready. Instead of disappearing as many companies do (especially with "small" jobs), Jeff worked with our schedule, regraded our yard, installed 2 French drains (Moncks Corner = clay soil), and re-sodded with thick, lush grass. It's been about two weeks now and everything about our yard is perfect! They even installed a dog run for Daphne--and the estimate was the price--no unpleasant surprises when everything was said and done. So don't be afraid to call them--not only do they show up when they say they will, they work hard and stay until the job is done. (Of course, it may have helped that my husband bought them a dozen donuts the morning they started the job but somehow I know they would have worked just as hard.) So as I said, don't be intimidated by the high-dollar jobs they've done in Mount Pleasant, Kiawah, Daniel Island, etc. Jeff works with anyone who wants to improve their outdoor space--it's his passion and his joy. (Of course, donuts can't hurt.) Hardy Services Group--as professional as they come, as local as it gets.
