The boatmen are very helpful if you have a mobility problem or need help with buggies. Catch this ferry from Salcombe (go down the steep steps by the Ferry Boat Inn) and wait to be taken to the East Portlemouth side to go to some really beautiful beaches where you can people and boat watch all day! (or to gain access to the stunning coastal path on the other side of the estuary.) There are queues when it starts to rain because everyone rushes to get back.
