Waited in a long line but it was so worth it! Prices are good for the portion size and many different gelato flavors to choose from. We tried the Cavour, Piazza Grande, 50 Special, Cremino Pistacchio. All were really tasty and not too sweet.

The dipped chocolate with cream was some of the best I've had. Each flavor just amazing.

La dotta & chocolate

Amazing gelato. The place is big and open. Very pretty. They have a refrigerator full of cannolis and other options. The star is the gelato. Staff super friendly and kind. Had La dotta and chocolate. The chocolate is so rich and dark. Unreal. The la dotta is mascarpone and chocolate which I'm almost positive has Nutella in it. Incredible combo. Ask about nuts if you have allergies.

Best gelato in Bologna. Have to come again to try other flavor before we leave. For €3.50 on a small size cone or cup, and up to 2 flavors, it is rather big portion compared to other gelato places I tried; and I tried many gelato during my Italian trip

Hands down one of my favorite gelato spots in Italy. The place to go for the really authentic creamy stuff.

Rich. Delish. Friendly staff. Clean, open store with some standing room to enjoy. I highly recommend!

Vegan pistachio and gianduia gelato

Best gelato I've had in Bologna! Plenty of menu options but I went straight for the vegan flavors (lactose) which taste just as good as any regular ones I've tried. Pistachio and gianduia, which had bits of hazelnut in it, were absolutely wonderful. €3.50 for cone, kids cone, or cup with two flavors. You can add whipped cream but it counts as a flavor. Employees are very nice. Clean, modern, spacious, though no space to sit:

Pistachio & Stracciatella (back) / Strawberry, Mango, & Lemon (front). Super fresh and delicious!

This might've been the best gelato that we tried in Bologna! The lines were out the door, but worth the wait. The service was really quick and friendly. They had AC and a standing table for you to stop and eat, which was a great way to beat some of the heat. They had tons of flavors to choose from, along with popsicles, cakes, and other gelato-filled desserts. They also included a complimentary waffle-cookie on top. Super yummy! You definitely don't want to miss this spot on your trip!

Best gelato I've ever had! I've had gelato every single day during my trip to Italy and this was the best.

Cavour and 50 Special

This might be my favorite gelato place I tried in Bologna and I tried quite a few. This was a bit more hidden away from the main squares, but still not a far walk and is just across the street from the Galleria Cavour. I liked it so much that I actually went twice during my two-day trip just to try more flavors. The place gets quite busy, but service is very quick as they're able to get people served quickly. There's even a nice park across the street for people to enjoy their gelato. I ended up getting the Cavour (ricotta cheese, Amalfi lemons and shortcrust pastry) and the 50 Special (coffee mascarpone with terina pie) during my first visit and the watermelon and Tortino brenso (chocolate cake ice cream) on the second visit. Their specialty flavors are definitely the way to go, the combinations just work really well together. The tortino brenso was the biggest surprise for me as I was expecting it to be sweet, but it was actually a very dark chocolate (which I love!) and it might be my new go-to flavor. Great experience all in all, and will visit again if I'm ever back in Bologna.

Absolutely delicious. Well worth the wait. Try the cremino pistachio if you like nuts. Amazing! And the staff were lovely given how busy it was.

We decided to come to this gelato shop because of its high ratings. Not sure if this is a small chain or not, but this location happened to be within a high end shopping complex. We were very glad we came here though, because the gelato there happened to be excellent quality and arguably the best gelato we had had on our trip. I got their pistachio and cream gelato, the former flavor usually being my barometer for ice cream/gelato, and it was absolutely amazing. My travel partners also really enjoyed their choices and we'd all recommend this place for gelato if you happen to find yourself in Bologna.

Hazelnut and pistachio in Brioche

The best gelato in Bologna. All the workers were also kind and patient. The interior is well lit and open concept, and there is often a long line. If you're up for a challenge, try getting your gelato in a brioche bun. The portion is huge but so delicious

If there's a long line, there's a reason.

Hands down, best gelato in Italy. Very flavorful and we enjoyed it in the lovely park next door. Highly recommended!

Surprisingly disappointing. There is a lot of really good…read moregelato to choose from in Bologna. Like, a *lot*. This, surprisingly, is not one of them. Or, to be a bit more precise, sample all the gelato, and if you find one with the right texture/flavor, go for it. But be sure to sample, because quite frequently the gelato is older and/or crystalline, which is basically a waste of your money. (Then again, the good stuff *is* good, so if you can't be bothered to walk to the next good gelateria...)

Giancarlo (owner) is the Italian nonno I wish I had. He speaks a little bit of English, but we both…read morespeak gelato fluently so it worked out. We stayed in Bologna for two nights, and we went here both nights. We've been fortunate enough to make this our fourth trip to Italy, so let's just say my husband and I have eaten our fair share of gelato. The shop is clean, bright, and modern while his prices are reasonable. I think it was 2.50 euros for a small and you can get two flavors. My favorite thing about this gelateria though is that he doesn't just do gelato. There are two fridges worth of delicious gelato ice cream sandwiches, cakes, gelato bars, etc. I actually go to gelaterias for the gelato made treats rather than gelato itself. I liked everything I got, but I was especially wowed by the orange cake. I'm not a big citrus-flavored-dessert person, but this had me wanting more. It was light and reminded me of a creamsicle--yum! If you're lucky, you will get to meet Giancarlo who has a welcoming smile that makes you feel better to be supporting his gelateria.
