I'd like to share my horrible experience with Climate Control of Louisiana. This past month, I had…read moreto move from Walker to Livingston. I don't have family around here that could could help me move and I'm a single mother so I used a moving company for the first time. I had a house full of things that needed to go into storage as I was moving into a one bedroom from a 3 bedroom. I also needed to pull things out of my storage including my king size bed that needed to come to the new apartment. When it came time to access my storage unit, the gate wouldn't open though my access code was correct. It said "Welcome Ashley" but didn't open. If you've ever used a moving company you know that you pay them by the hour and mileage. Keep that in mind. It was a Sunday which they are closed on Sundays and there wasn't an after hours number posted for case of emergency. I called the alarm company posted on the gate which couldn't help without the owner. I also called the fire department bc they have their own codes to enter places like this and had a little box outside the gate. They did everything in their power to help me. They needed the owner to access. They searched for him through Google, Facebook, email, and even called previous owners to try to locate the current owner. Nothing. They emailed the company email for me but didn't get an answer. As I'm sitting there with the moving company parked, racking up my bill, I had to figure out what I could do quickly. Frustrated, I said we'll have to put everything that was going into storage into my tiny apartment and then get my bed and other things from storage later. The problem with this is that I ended up paying 1200 to the moving company, and over 300 was spent on the hour that we just sat at the storage unit trying to access the unit with my belongings. I called the next day and explained what happened and he wasn't apologetic and was trying to rush me off the phone. I explained how I just forked out a ton of money to move and I'd still need another moving day bc nothing got moved how it needed to and now I have a one bedroom apartment filled to the top with furniture and boxes bc I couldn't access the unit that I pay monthly on. I explained how I'm a single mother and didn't expect to pay more than 500 to the moving company and how sitting there cost me a lot of money and asked if I could use one of his U-Hauls for free to help me move the rest due to his faulty gate and not being able to locate him. After BEGGING he eventually agreed bc I had to bring up that I would need to call a lawyer and see what my options are. Well we scheduled a time and date for me to pick up the truck. I had a couple from Mississippi come help me move. They had to rearrange their schedule but realized how badly I needed the help and I couldn't afford to pay anyone after that horrible moving experience. I took off work early on a Saturday to go get the truck and move but when I got to Climate Control of Louisiana there were no trucks in the parking lot. I went inside and asked if we were good to go and cracked a joke about no truck being in the parking lot and how it freaked me out....he said "Oh that's because they're all rented out". ?!?! Are you serious? I finally gave him a piece of my mind and asked why he could choose to run a business like this and he didn't want to hear it, he said he didn't have a truck bc a paying customer took it and said let's try tomorrow. I already had people coming from Mississippi who were 10 minutes away and I took off work to get this done and had an apartment full of stuff to where I couldn't move in it. He could care less the stress he had caused and after I gave him a piece of my mind about how he ran his business, he made me leave the building and refused to do anything concerning the matter. Wanted to share bc it isn't right how he treated me, a paying customer.
