This is the main / central campus for Grace Family Church (GFC). There are five campuses total (as…read moreof this review) and one is opening in Land O Lakes in mid-late 2018. This campus (the one being reviewed, on Van Dyke) is the only campus that currently has Saturday services. I served in the ministry for six years and my last church was GFC. I worked there for two years (2011-2012) until I needed to make a career change purely due to scheduling concerns (weekends became difficult for me). I still volunteer & attend here regularly on the weekend productiom team. Craig Altman is the founding and lead pastor; he is one of the most authentic and genuine ministry leaders you will find in Tampa and really anywhere. In my experience, there is no church like one that is still under the leadership of its founding pastor and is continuing to grow. Matt Roden co-preaches/teaches on the weekends. He has been with GFC for the past several years and is every bit as good a communicator as Craig. The church's multiple campuses have thousands that attend each weekend, however there are plenty of both home-based and on-campus options to connect with small groups of 2-20 people. The Saturday services at the main campus are recorded and while the worship is live and equally excellent on all campuses, you receive the main location's message on Sunday morning regardless of which one you attend. Many people I know have friends across the Bay area so this really goes a long way to connect you with the people in your small group for which another campus may be more convenient. If you're looking for a church where you can learn the finer points of complex theological concepts that enhance your head knowledge, there are plenty of options in Tampa. If you want to be part of a practical, Christ-centered community that will change your life I would highly recommend trying out GFC.

The welcome you get is awesome - they walked us everywhere we needed to go and accompanied my teen to the teenager group. She loves that she's in an all girls group on Sundays and a full group on Wednesday nights. We feel like this is a good fit for our family. We are kind of getting tired of churches with fog machines and crazy lighting... This church is HUGE but totally easy to fit in and find groups. Excellent teen group as well!

"You'll know them by their fruit" and it's easy to see how impactful they are with the youth any Wednesday night when preteens / teens are unleashed, uncontrolled in the parking lot of the plaza to bully other youth and terrorize other businesses in the plaza.
