Then I saw they were offering cookie decorating classes at THE KITCHEN STORE in Sacramento and rushed to sing my daughter and myself up. It was quite intimidating for me as I do not always color with-in the lines, but they made it so easy to follow along step by step, and after 2 hours I had created 5 perfectly decorated cookies and have a new skill that will last me a lifetime. We loved this class!

I've ordered custom cookies for a birthday, and they turned out better than expected. I was able to give them some ideas and let them get creative with the theme. I've also taken multiple cookie decorating classes, and they make them so fun and approachable. We definitely did a better job than we expected, and since they make the cookies and icing for you they're always delicious. I love the different themes they come up with throughout the year. Some classes can fill up quickly, so check out their social and website for the latest offerings. Sugar Sweetery also pops up at a lot of events, and through these pop ups I've tried cookies, macarons, oatmeal cream pies, cupcakes, cake pops, caramel apples, and more. All the treats they put out are delicious, and I love that they use seasonal ingredients and take inspiration from the kind of pop up they're at. I highly recommend following them on social media for their pop up schedule, class schedule, and latest treat offerings. They've become my go-to spot for decorated sugar cookies.

I had a specific image in my head that I was striving for and couldn't find any cake inspiration online that fully matched my vision. Let's just say I was a hot mess express on the fast track to failure, because in the craziness of planning I had waited too long to put a cake order in or much less find a reputable baker I trusted. I thought for sure that my mission would be a flop until I came across Cake Jewel. I sent in an inquiry to see if she had availability, but my hopes weren't set high because I was certain I had missed my window and she'd be booked up. Y'all the cake fates were in my favor, because she was able to take me on! Not only was she able, but she was just as excited as I was for the concept I wanted to go with. We only corresponded via email, which was my preference due to hearing impairment, but she was radiating with passion and eagerness to get started. That alone had me even more amped to work with her. Passion like that mixed with talent is a match made in heaven. Let me just say Jewel's customer service is 100% on point. The communication she kept open and flowing kept a scatter-brain like me at ease. She worked with me to make my vision a reality, going above and beyond to answer all my questions and work with me to create the best possible cake. She made sure to meet all my requests without risking the integrity of the cake and was honest with her recommendations. She has a mix of professionalism and genuine kindness that I appreciate immensely. I'd go as far as saying that people like Jewel are the reason I make a point to support small businesses. She's just that great. Now on to the cake! Oh. My. Goodness. I'm pretty mellow and not known for having big reactions to things, but when I saw the finished product I couldn't stop smiling. Jewel NAILED it. I had a vision in my head and she totally surpassed any expectations I could have had. It was AMAZING. The cake, a vanilla cake with lime buttercream filling, tasted just as incredible as it looked. A completely edible work of art. The cherry on top was finally getting to meet Jewel, who was just as radiant in person as she was via email. She delivered the cake within the time frame we had agreed upon and took the extra step to explain everything on the cake to me, even though she had sent a detailed invoice via email earlier. It's little things like that, that take a business straight over the threshold into extraordinary. One thing is certain, Jewel has gained a loyal customer in me (and my boyfriend). We can't wait to work with her again on our next cake adventure. If you're looking for excellent customer service from an incredibly passionate and talented baker Cake Jewel is the place to go. You won't be disappointed. ****Pictures Added!****

I beelined it over there to check them out. Why? Because I do luv a good bakery. As I walked into the shop, there was a gentleman at the counter. He turned out to be the owner, Carlos. Him and his wife own the shop which they opened about a year ago. She's the baker. Their speciality is custom order cakes. Gorgeous, sophistically designed cakes. But they are not a one trick pony. No sirree. They also sold cupcakes, trifles, cream puffs, and tarts. They were all sitting pretty looking divinely delicious in a refrigerated counter. I bought two cupcakes. One was a honey roasted peanut butter on chocolate cupcake and the other I forgot the name of. But it was a chocolate cupcake of some sort with a vanilla type of cream frosting. Those were $4.50 a piece. Carlos told me the cupcakes are cold but best eaten about 40 minutes to a hour at room temp. Sorry to say I had no will power to wait that long. They both got devoured shortly after I got back to my car. Even without the wait, it was delicious. Moist, flavorful cake. The frosting was delicious and piped on perfectly. Sure the frosting was a bit stiff when I ate it because I had no patience to let it settle to room temp, but it didn't take away from the taste. Homemade perfection.

I was in the neighborhood, and so I decided to stop by and try this place based on the reviews. The place is bright and clean, they have a good sized selection, and the lady that ran the place was very very friendly. Overall, the two cookies I had were OK. The first cookie I had was the chocolate cookie dough frost 'em. The cookie was a very good sized, and the cookie itself tasted good, but it had a bit of a gritty texture. Also, the cookie was way too sweet. Maybe cut back on the frosting a little bit, or maybe put a little bit less sweetening in the frosting, but the frosting was definitely overwhelming. The second cookie I had later, was the snickerdoodle. Again, the cookie tasted very good, but again, it had a bit of a gritty texture. Also, the middle of the snickerdoodle definitely tasted underbaked to me. It was just way too soft. The soft texture took away from the cookie a bit. The texture was just a little bit "off" for me. The price was reasonable, especially considering that this is a specialty bakery. There is a small upcharge if you pay with card, but it was very clearly pointed out. They refer to it as a "cash discount. I do realize that these cookies are vegan and gluten-free, and it may have been the gluten-free that caused the texture issues. Looking back at it now, it may be because a lot of gluten-free products use rice flour, which cannot be milled as fine as "regular flour.". That could be the cause of the grittiness. . I am glad that the vegan and gluten-free Community do have a place where they can get their sweets now. For me, I am glad I tried them, but while overall the cookies were OK, they just weren't for me. Thank you anyway.
