Unfortunately, that location shut down and my stylist moved elsewhere. Her new location is much further for me, so in a desperate moment in which my schedule was tight and I needed a cut, I went to a "fast food" style hair salon... I definitely regret that... My cut (at the other place, not here) was choppy and not at all what I asked for... I have hesitated going somewhere to get it fixed, knowing I would need to pay again. I do not regret a penny that I spend today, however, because Michelle did an incredible job and I couldn't be more pleased. Not only did she fix my hair and fade it perfectly, she showed me a couple of different options to stylet without having to use a flat iron, and even encourage me to go with my "natural wave" and showed me how to work with it... something no one has ever taken the time to do before. I really enjoy what she showed me and it's going to save me a ton of time in the morning. I spent a few extra dollars to be here instead of someplace quick and cheap, but it's worth every penny for Michelle's experience, her friendly demeanor, and a cut that I am extremely happy with! She looked at my hair and was like "kind of like balayage?" And I said yes because my previous hairstylist always referred to my hair as "balayage-ish". I should've known something was wrong when she wiped out syran wrap instead of foil so that's my fault for not speaking but but I'm a trusting person. I also needed a trim. JUST a trim. Homegirl chopped my hair off and then gaslit me by telling me she didn't. Ontop of that she told me it was my fault for how I sleep that one side was growing better than the other so she had to fix it. I understand my hair was damaged on the ends but she easily took 2-3 inches off. I cried the whole way home. How do you not talk to someone before doing that? Communicate to your client what needs to happen and don't just get scissor happy because you think that's what is best. Now I gave it 2 stars because I guess the "blending" is good? My stylist Chelsea did an awesome job. I had to see the finish product with the dry and porducts used my hair looked fresh. If you do end up coming here for a haircut and color. Just keep in mind that these are students practicing unger a licensed teacher. It will take more time than going into a regular salon. However, while the professional was cutting my kid's hair, another hair cutter was loudly and repeatedly voicing her opinion that Travon Martin (the kid killed by George Zimmerman) had been shopping for watermelon soda and Skittles so that he could manufacture some sort of crystal meth facsimile out of the materials. She repeated over and over again to her trapped customer (who was obviously uncomfortable with the repeated racist remarks) that all the kids today are making drugs out of Skittles and watermelon soda. She insisted that the media promoted Trayvon Martin as an innocent child while he was in reality a meth cook. My 12-year-old looked over at me in shock that an adult was announcing this with a child in the room. When we walked out of the Best Family Hairstyling salon my kid and I had to have a talk about one of the unfortunate consequences of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Depending on who cuts my son's hair, I've been somewhere between "fine with it" and thrilled with the results. They've apparently got a major staffing problem right now or something. I got here with my son at 10 in the morning on a Friday, and there is only one stylist working. That seems to be a trend. Multiple people waiting, but my son is long overdue for his haircut so I decided to wait. As I sat in the waiting room more people came in and asked how long the wait was and the stylist said "well I'm the only one here so it might be about an hour or so"... So they customers just said they'd go somewhere else. And no commitment to trying to keep the business, just a nonchalant "ok" and walking away back to the task at hand. This particular experience was pitiful, and there's no reason for a service place that is going to take at least 30 minutes with each person to ever only have one person on staff. If that's the way they are going to operate, they need to stop advertising that walk-ins are welcome, and only take appointments. They've been fine in the past, but I'm not sure I'll be back after this one.

They prefer appointments, but will take walk-ins (be mindful that priority will always go to appointment clients) I wanted to do a walk in, but ended up setting a same day appointment, only 2 hours after I made the call, so it a doable wait time. I ate lunch and had a nap before coming in, so it was already leading up to a nice chill day. My stylist was an older lady, and she was very pleasant, quick nimble with the scissors and mostly styled my hair with just her hands (I have natural waves) and used very little product. And my hair turned out better than I expected. I basically got a wolf cut with soft layers. As we talked, I found out she's had a collective of over 30 years experience cutting hair both abroad and here In the states. I can really appreciate the service she gave along with her pleasant demeanor during the whole experience I had. My husband ended up going there to get his hair cut a few days later...and I was happy with what they did to his hair as well. Very clean and styled in a way that suits his face and head shape. Not just a cookie cutter hairstyle that looks the same on everyone. This one really flattered his specific look and personality. The only downside is parking on a busy day, the lot is small and right up near a busy street. So I understand why they encourage appointments, to keep the parking lot from being crowded. So it seems like they already put some consideration into setting up a good experience for their clientele. I look forward to visiting them again in the future for a color job I want to try. All I wanted this time around was a wash, cut and style and it was decently priced and professionally done in a relatively short amount of time.
