Beware RACISM! I found them through care.com and they sent me an email for tour information. We set up a time for me to visit with my baby this Friday (today). The lady I spoke to name was Britt White, she was completely aware of my child's age as well through the inquire. I rushed to get to the tour and the moment I arrived me and my child walked in and she said "How old is your child" (knowing she already knew because of the inquiry, in addition the enrollment papers I was given from them was specifically for 3 year olds- which is included in the attachment. Furthermore, Britt wasted my time, gas, and money by all of a sudden claiming they don't have space after they seen us in person. In addition, I did notice there was no ethnic children there. After claiming there magically was no enrollment space, she dismissed me and my child to the dangerous parking lot in the backside. These people are racist and don't care about *ALL children.

    Pic of daughter's scratched face

We pulled our 18-month-old daughter out after she had been scratched in the face a second time by a little boy who kept bullying her. We had advised the director of the issue before, and she failed to separate them. The director, Brit White, tried to cover up the incident by claiming our daughter had a tantrum and scratched herself, yet the teachers said they didn't witness her having the supposed tantrum. The director also made comments about the fact that our daughter didn't speak much. After we pulled her out of that environment and placed her into a new school (Beach Babies) with a zero-tolerance for bullying, our daughter thrived. I would never recommend this place until they get a new director who will hopefully change the culture.

My son learned to speak and understand so much Mandarin during his time there. This helped him to communicate with grandparents. It was really cute when he sang Chinese songs and even recited some poetry from the Tang Dynasty, which was impressive. For the parents who care a lot about math, my son was at least 2 years ahead of the LAUSD curriculum when he left MTA. He was able to do 3 digit addition, very very basic 4 digit addition and basic subtraction. When it came to meals, we were satisfied with the food. Jenny Laoshi did a great job getting my son to eat vegetables and fruits. This was no easy feat for our son as I struggle to get him to eat more veggies and try different fruits. We only wish they served more Chinese meals but we heard that some of the kids were not willing to eat Chinese food as much as American food. In terms of value, I don't think you'll find anything else that will beat MTA. We were pleasantly surprised by the price point, especially for the quality of education, care and food (2 meals and 2 snacks provided every day). The hours were also fantastic - 8am-6pm. Now with all that being said, no school is perfect. There's always room for improvement. I think one of them is better school-parent and teacher-parent communications. I think as long as parents are not shy about asking questions, there should be no issue. I was also hoping there would be more cultural education, like discussing Mid-Autumn Festival traditions and reading relevant stories.

We were a bit hesitant after reading the reviews, but upon speaking with the staff and other parents, we decided to enroll our second kid (2.5yo) and we've absolutely loved it. Our kid is quite shy in new environments and separation anxiety is still high. The teachers and staff are always so warm and welcoming in addressing him to make him feel safe and loved. He now talks about Ms. Hillary and his teachers like they're his friends. For context, we moved this past summer to MB from San Francisco, where we had our first son in multiple private preschools due to covid. Of all the different places we've experienced, the communication, structure, staff, the wide range of activities, and the warmth of the admin especially, have all been top notch. We also had our kid in another preschool in MB prior to this where he was having a hard time, so we toured a multiple other places to look for alternatives all across MB and El Segundo. I can honestly say that you won't get a better team than MSMB. I echo all other positive reviews as well re: the Band app, the campus, the community, extra curricular, etc.. If you're on the fence because of the reviews, please take a visit for yourself and experience what the school has to offer before you judge based on the reviews of parents that are no longer associated with the school.

When I first applied, we were more than 100 spots down on the waitlist. I checked in regularly, hoping for an opening, and when the opportunity finally came during the pandemic, I felt incredibly fortunate. My oldest daughter was ready to start preschool, and from day one, we fell in love with Journey of Faith. Since then, both of our daughters have attended. Our youngest started at just five months old and will be heading to kindergarten next year, which feels incredibly bittersweet. Throughout every stage, the teachers and staff have created a nurturing, supportive, and joyful environment where our girls have truly thrived. The education they have received has been phenomenal, but what stands out even more is the genuine care, love, and dedication shown by everyone at the school from the teachers and administrators to the chef and support staff. Every person contributes to making Journey of Faith feel like a second home. We are so thankful for the friendships, memories, and strong foundation our daughters have gained here. Journey of Faith has played such an important role in our family's life, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to any family looking for a loving, high-quality preschool experience.

The staff is wonderful and invested in giving the kids a really great foundation and fun education. The Director is super involved, knows all the kids by name, and really cares about the kids. My kids have learned so much and enjoyed every classroom they have been in. Infant Center: We initially chose MA based on the infant center. Ms. Wroten has been the director in the infant center for years and she is a wonderful teacher. We loved that the teachers will ask you for your individual schedule for your child. All of the other places we toured had a set schedule that your infant needed to adjust to. You give them the schedule for feedings and naps and they will stick to it. The teachers provide updates throughout the day in real time (and pictures!) and they communicate with you about everything. Even in the infant center, the teachers will incorporate activities that encourage development. And I always appreciated the art projects and over the top projects for Mother's Day and Father's Day. We always trusted the teachers and felt that our kids were safe. Our kids flourished in the infant center. Toddler Community: The Toddler community is really the jewel of the school. A really welcoming and cute space that is separate and really special. We got to know all of the teachers in Toddler (most of whom have been there for years) and loved every single teacher. The teachers potty train the kids at a pretty early age. It made the potty training at home super easy. The teachers are very involved in the kids' development at this age - teaching them so many important foundational skills. We saw tons of growth here. Our kids had Ms. Campos (Cornejo) and Ms. Schott - both really amazing teachers - they genuinely care for all the kids and teach them so much. They hold conferences with the parents about your child's growth, areas of improvement, things to look forward to. Of course there are fun activities as well. On top of the motor, language, and cognitive skills they learned in toddler, they also learned to be kind, confident, polite, and friendly. Primary Community: The growth and development in the primary community is off the charts. Again, the teachers are amazing. Ms. Alcaraz is one of the best teachers I have ever known. She really cares for all of her kids like they are her own. Everyday I was amazed at the things the kids learned in primary. The development of reading and writing skills is really amazing. They also offer tons of activities that enrich the kids' experience - music, outdoor environment, spanish. I wish I had such a well rounded education myself at that age. The kids love the program, love their teachers, love going to school. I can't speak highly enough of our experience here.

We joined this school back in 2021 because we were drawn to it's free play, child-led "curriculum",…read moreand emotionally supportive staff. We enjoyed most of our time there, made great friendships, and grew as parents. However, as time went on and we began to get more involved (including serving on the Board for 2 years), it became clear that not all was well. The director, Carol Tatsumi, repeatedly dismissed community feedback unless it fit her vision of how school should operate. She failed to distribute the co-op bylaws to the Board or parents, such that no one knew they had voting rights as members or how the co-op should work. When this came to light, she denied wrongdoing and rejected suggestions from the Board to share the bylaws with members so they could be made aware of their rights and responsibilities in the organization. She even had Board Meeting minutes deleted that contained any bylaw discussion, even though they are supposed to be made available to members. Furthermore, the director failed to abide by California state laws and permitted 60% of the students enrolled to be unvaccinated and used the students records who WERE vaccinated to be the "cover" during state inspections. Once caught by the government agency, she abruptly unenrolled the students who were partially or fully unvaccinated rather than giving them the 10 days allowed by the government to either get up to date or at least say goodbye to the school and have a smooth transition. This was incredibly painful for those students and their families and negatively impacted the entire school community. Sadly, this "co-op" doesn't operate like one, and it's poorly operated at that. The building is in need of major repairs although the director dismissed multiple suggestions to improve its safety, function, and appearance. Furthermore, the school has been losing money due to low enrollment and hasn't recovered since COVID, so there is limited budget to address safety concerns let alone hire, develop, or retain talented staff. Finally, the "rules" families need to follow is laundry list long, from forbidding packaged foods to making kids turn their shirt inside out if it has a character or any brand on it. There might only be 3 kids at school one day, but all parents need to volunteer every single week such that there are often more adults on campus than children. And perhaps most disappointing, there isn't actual coaching of non-violent communication skills, just avoiding of setting limits and boundaries among kids such that exclusion and cliqueyness prevail. This school will probably be a fit for those looking for a very specific experience for their children, but do know that there are not enough families enrolled here to make this co-op run smoothly, so you will be required to do more than your fair share to try to keep it running and your feedback to how it could be more efficiently handled will probably be ignored. Good luck!

There has been zero teacher turnover since we've been there (and for years prior), which also says a lot. They do a great job providing a safe, loving, positive environment while also growing independence and accountability in the children. It's been a perfect balance of social/emotional and educational learning.
