Very cool artists that create magical and original paintings with spray paint, some newspapers,…read more sponges and various misc. tools (like a ripped piece of paper out of a magazine or flyer), no brushes, but anything they can get their hands on within reach. Watching this in action is down right amazing. Karissa is the artist that painted the "fantasy themed" picture for my daughter. She was awesome, approachable and fun to watch. She listed to what my daughter wanted ... My daughter picked out the color scheme and the type of style she wanted which was fantasy based. The painting was painted on poster board. The size my daughter picked was approximately 14" x 22" and the cost was $30.00. With that in mind Karissa worked her magic and entertained the crowd that quickly gathered around to watch. It was a live art show that definitely entertained. So if you are in the area at Pike Place or at the Aquarium look for them. They are pretty much a street vender that sets up directly in front of the Aquarium. If you don't commission them for your own piece of art stop by to see them in action and if you are lucky enough to catch them in action throw in a few bucks in their tip jar. They have other pieces to choose from on their wall for purchase or you can find their story online at: theartsurgeon.com. The online website has video and other cool things to learn about their talent and how the art of spray-painting got started. The website looks like they offer all types of things for purchase as well like T-shirts, hoodies, phone covers, tote bags, etc. Check them out. While on the street - they accept cash only. If you want to hire them out for your next Corporate event; they do that too! According to their website.

I adore Suzanne…read more Her studio in Playa is VERY far for me to travel since I live in the valley... and yet after a session with her, coming home in traffic didn't bother me in the least (maybe for the first time... ever!? ha!) I was so glad to be alone with my thoughts and in such a great mental state I felt grateful for the slow drive instead of aggravated by it. I think that alone says enough about her as a meditation teacher! But I don't want to stop there... because I haven't told you enough about this lovely and amazing woman. Suzanne truly has a gift. She is calm and soothing and caring and supportive... and she is absolutely meant to be doing this. She seems to have an intuitive knack for knowing just what a person needs... You see the mind can be a dangerous place and we all have such different experiences, and blocks, and ... you cannot apply a one size fits all philosophy to new students. And she doesn't... she works with you, to help you unlock your best self, and she does it bravely and beautifully and she truly makes it as painless as possible despite whatever pain you bring in there. She is awesome :-)

At the same time, we're proud washingtonians; it's important for us to support local arts and artists in everything we do from a brand and creative marketing standpoint. Through mutual connections/recommendation, I got in touch with Overall Creative. And the rest is history. It was a seamless and very enjoyable collaboration. Having worked with muralists in the past, I had a fairly high bar for work quality. Overall Creative exceeded this bar. They we're great to work with, kind, very professional, perfectionistic, and frankly, hand-painting machines. The quality of their work, line, and attention to detail was of the highest caliber. And they crushed it fast. Now we have a rad, incredibly professional hand-painted mural that fully articulates our identity to anyone and everyone. If you're looking for an amazing mural or supergraphic, I'd put Overall Creative at the top of your list.

I find that she is a rare teacher who can work equally well with beginning art students and experienced artists. Her approach with all students is encouraging, honest, and tailored to their level of skill and interest. Above all Ruthie creates a positive environment in her classes where all are welcome to explore their interest in painting, learn about their craft, and perhaps discover more about themselves. I highly recommend her classes.

Always challenging herself to say more with less, she paints from observation, limiting her palettes and teasing out the essential form of her subject matter, a process that involves the viewer in the completion of an image. Ruthie's minimal approach includes her Japanese influence--she studied in both the U.S. and Japan--and her practice of completing each work in a limited number of sittings. While allowing herself the freedom to paint diverse subject matter in a wide variety of styles, she frequently returns to, and sensitively renders, the human form. The fact remains that Ruthie V. has made some very good paintings, and you should know about her. - Jen Graves, The Stranger "... a painter's painter."- Mitchell Albala
