I went in just to look for sweet grass incense but spent most of the time perusing the shelves and beholding all the beauty. I have recently moved to a very rural area in the North East and I haven't found a store neither online or in person that will satisfy my need for all things herbs and crystals, wo saying Creative Energy is completely irreplaceable. I contacted them on FB and they got back to me rather quickly and helped me place an order. They helped me pick out incense that would benefit my current needs as well as helped figure out the right crystals and set up a beautiful display for me pick the specific crystal from the lot. Even though they were having a busy day in the store, the person helping me was still very attentive and answered all my questions. Melbourne has lots of little boutiques and shops, but Creative Energy is a real jewel surrounded by mainstream shops. Before you even walk in you are greeted by standout purple paint. Wow that's an attention grabber. Incense burns as you walk in the store, while beads and crystals dangle around you. They have a fairly large amount of books that range from spiritual guidance to do it yourself palm readings. One of my favorite little hide aways is in the back with a large sit down ottoman near the Buddha boards. They have: Belly Dancer Gear, Incense, Candles, Jewelry, Henna Kits, Scarves, Different religious and spiritual items, and much more. This shop is astonishingly divine. Entering it you experience a smell of incense and listen to tranquil music. You're received with an engaging staff who are knowledgeable with their products and will explain what kind of uplifting spiritual meaning each object has including the stones and crystals. When I have company from out of town, I take them to enjoy this charming shop. The staff are there because this is their niche, not just a job. I have to say that I did not expect what I encountered today. My son and I decided to take a stroll around Downtown Melbourne and saw Creative Energy. It looked inviting but that immediately went out the door when I was told " Sorry, we're really busy today. If someone were to come in with a wheelchair, they wouldn't be able to." Let me take a moment to clarify that my son was in a stroller (fairly large one) but before I could even try to come up with my own solution I was basically told to leave. Now mind you, once I entered the store (for all of 2 seconds LITERALLY) I was completely aware that I wouldn't be able to navigate said stroller with ease due to the size of the establishment. I offered to park the stroller outside but I was told "Sorry" and given a blank could you please leave now stare. Sorry? I was completely floored not to mention hurt. I have never felt so enraged in my life. I have to feel that I just wasn't welcomed. For a place called Creative Energy I was left with nothing but bad vibes. Customer service is key. Creative Energy is an adorable, little Pagan store tucked right into Historic Melbourne. It's just a bit down from Meg O'Malley's, the Irish Pub, and across the street from the British Store (which was closed on the day that I was exploring). Anyways, I felt completely at ease upon walking in here. We, here in Jax, have been spoiled by how spacious Earth Gifts is in both of its locations. Creative Energy, ironically, is really creative about space (given that they have much less), but also with display of their wares. I bought a set of energy candles that I plan to use here in the near future. I do have a piece of negative feedback that I hope they can address with future customers. As I was browsing and looking, I always felt an employee hovering nearby. I understand the need to watch over customers and make sure nothing gets pilfered, but this was almost the entire time that I was in the store. Given the layout, it does get crowded fairly easily and luckily, I'm not the type to get claustrophobic. However, it did make me feel uncomfortable. I was also carrying around the few small items that I planned to buy and one of the employees came up and said "I'll just put these behind the counter." In all honesty, I was still hemming and hawing about whether I wanted to purchase them. I don't like feeling that I'm backed into a corner on a purchase, and this is what that felt like. I hope better tactics can be used to thwart people who want to steal because this really didn't feel all that tactful. In any case, though, I really liked the vibe of the store (outside of the above). There was a psychic doing readings that day and I expressed interest in getting a reading. Apparently, she was booked for the entire day and most of the psychics/tarot readers are booked up quickly from what I was told. Seems like it needs to be a first come, first serve basis. I was there and ready to give money for a reading and was turned away. However, if that's what works for the store and folks are keeping their appointments, I can't really judge. In closing, I was glad to learn of how large that the Pagan Community happens to be around Melbourne and I will keep Creative Energy in mind for further visits down the road. Great little gem in downtown Melbourne. I mainly come here to stock up on my incense, but they also offer many items for "alternative" spiritual people. We've enjoyed this shop and made purchases there over the years, but won't be back. My wife and I had just left Meehans art supply. My wife is an artist and had purchased paint and a book, which was in a Meehan's bag. As we entered Creative Energy a young woman confronted my wife and asked to hold her bag. My wife informed her that we were not there to steal and we then turned and left. Even if the store has experienced theft, this is a poor way to deal with it. We do not like the implication that we are thieves as neither of us are. I'm not accustomed to such treatment. read more

I found this little gem just a couple of weeks ago. This was an amazing experience. I felt the energy from the shop as soon as I pulled into the parking lot! The fountain and incense out side the entry door were very soothing and inviting. When I entered the store I was on sensory overload for a minute- but in a good way! The shop was beautifully appointed and it smelled wonderful! Every inch of space in the shop has something lovely for sale and the displays are gorgeous! I do agree with one other reviewer regarding the employees hovering a lot. It is a little off putting but I do understand the reason behind it. The staff is very pleasant and gracious though. Maybe some security cameras in the shop would be helpful in this area. Still, it's all good! They are sincere and truly helpful and the shop is just over the top amazing! I have found that they can be pretty pricey depending on the item -- I've had better luck ordering large crystals and spheres, necklaces even, from California (do a bit of looking -- if you aren't seeking 'instant gratification', chances are you can find better prices) One thing I will note is that even as a repeat customer, I am constantly 'hovered' over -- to the point where I feel rushed to leave, un-welcomed even...if they're having issues with theft, I feel there is a better way...really ruins the experience with someone constantly at your back. Other than a few things mentioned, I really like this place, and I make a point to stop by every time I'm downtown. read more

I am the "spouse" mentioned in Trevor's comment. I am the one that spoke with the owner directly and I feel extremely hurt and frustrated leaving this business. I got blank stares and a "Sorry, but I can't do that" for 10 minutes, when I asked for an exchange or return. I even asked if I could get the money on a gift card instead and she refused. She didn't want the items back, and she stuck by that. I've worked in retail for years and the customer is always right no questions asked. She blankly said that as the owner of this shop she physically can not refund or exchange these items for me. And also, working in retail, I know for a fact that she can.. Trevor's review is worded much better than mine so you should read that one and be a mindful conscience consumer and do your research before you just hand over your money. These items are cheap, please don't waste your time. That is my honest opinion. I will NEVER return to this shop, and I've advised my friends and family to do the same. read more

This store is really cool! It's packed to the brim with lots of interesting things. They have just about everything for many different spiritual paths and practices. The staff was very helpful and taught a lot about the products in their store. They offered advice to other customers and offered lots of insight as well. They have lots of beautiful crystals but I felt they were very overpriced, as well as it was very difficult to find their prices with them mostly displayed in glass cabinets. I came primarily looking for crystals but had to leave empty handed. The staff was friendly but I also felt like they were constantly keeping a close eye on me which can be a little uncomfortable. My spouse and I have been supportive, reoccurring customers of Creative Energy for the past few years. We firmly believe in shopping locally, and have always felt good about spending our money here. This has recently changed though. After a recent trip, and large purchase made to the store, we attempted to return a handful of the items we had bought, two bracelets and two necklaces to be exact. This, we soon learned, was a not going to happen. Keep in mind while reading this that there were no defects or damages done to the items, we had the receipt and all tags to the them, and we were returning them within less than 24 hours of the purchase. The receipt specified no returns accepted for a small list of items, in which jewelry was not one. We first spoke with an employee, and were immediately told that we could not be refunded our money. We asked if we could receive store credit instead, and were then told that they did not offer store credit and would have to do an immediate exchange instead. So we searched around the store for a while trying to find something to exchange for the amount we were given, and found nothing we felt was worth our money. We went to retrieve our items from the clerk and were instead approached by the owner. We tried explaining what was going on, but were bombarded with excuses as to why she could not refund us. First she said because the tags were removed, but we had the tags in perfect condition so they could easily be reattached. Once we told her that, she said that the "energy" from the items had been drained by us, and would not have any use to someone else. Although astonished at this remark, we respected her beliefs, but told her that was no way to run a business. We all have different beliefs, and those should not reflect how you run your establishment. Upon explaining our beliefs to her, she then told us she was no longer willing to even do an exchange for us, and were told to leave the store. So our story being told, it is up for you to decide who was in the wrong. However, we feel that we were not only treated wrongly as customers, but wrongly as those with different beliefs than her own. What this represents to us, is that Creative Energy "Gift Shop", as they have titled the establishment, is just that, a gift shop. They do not care about customer service, or even respect of another's feelings. They were clearly interested in the money only, and not the "energy" that the owner herself spoke of. All of the items we bought, and most everything that is carried in the store, can be bought online for a much, much, cheaper price. It is mostly cheaply made and overpriced, but when you feel like you're supporting a good local business, it seems worth it. However, after this incident, I do not feel that it would be in anyone's best interest, especially my own, to support such a business that claims to believe in peace and happiness, but then be so rude and unfair to its customers. We will never be shopping here again, and I hope that this review can save you from experiencing the same greediness and hurtfulness that we experienced. read more

I have never been so insulted and want people to know they obviously do not support families and you should not support them if you have a family yourself. I love the store in itself. I've been a paying customer here a few times already. There is a Huge selection, really interesting things, enjoyable to browse through. But.. if it wasn't so wonderful, I would take my business elsewhere. The customer service is where I have a problem. A couple people were very helpful, but one lady working gave off a very *negative* energy. She kept hovering over me while I was trying to browse, and I wasn't oblivious to the fact that she was hovering only around me, and a little too close than normally employees would. I went into the back bookstore area and was browsing books. She followed me back there. It made me VERY uncomfortable, like I said, negative energy. It was very rude and rubbed me the wrong way. I had a book in my hands that I was holding , considering purchasing but was still comparing it to others to make a decision. She took the book out of my hands and said " I'll hold this up front for you. *pause* Did you take anything else back here?" In an extremely accusatory tone. I am NOT A thief and am very offended that I was treated as one. If I didn't love this store so much I would have given her a piece of my mind instead of ignoring it.
