There were six seats total, with my boyfriend and me occupying two and the remaining four filled by other guests. The seating was family-style, so you're sharing the experience with others which was great because the family was celebrating a birthday!! For the first hour, we worked with clay at a table and had the freedom to create just about anything we wanted. I attempted to make a leaf, and my bf made a mug. We'll see how they turns out once we pick them up. I wish I could remember the names of the two individuals who guided us because they were absolutely wonderful. They were patient and incredibly knowledgeable, it's definitely their passion. Once done, we walked into a different room for our second hour. The second hour is dedicated to working on the pottery wheel. The instructors had already prepared and started our first bowl, allowing us to get a feel for working with the wheel before attempting one on our own. My second attempt didn't go quite as planned, but I had so much fun trying. I ended up with a very shallow, short bowl. But a bowl is a bowl right. At the end of the class, we were able to select a glaze color for each of our pieces from six available options. We were told that our finished pieces would be ready in approximately three weeks and that we would receive a call when they were available for pickup. I haven't got them back yet but will post an update when i do. The experience is BYOB so if you plan to bring wine, I recommend bringing your own cups and a wine opener as well. We didn't think to bring those items, but we were still able to get our bottle opened, so it wasn't a big deal, we just had to borrow someone else's. They told us to just pick a color off a clipboard and they will do it for us. When we asked if we can do it ourselves, Kyle was dismissive and made us feel bad for wanting to do something we looked forward to doing.

Bowls For Good is located in the front of the Morean Arts Center, straight up the stairs. There are no visible signs out front (we got lost). Ben and Oliver were there to greet us. Both were very nice and helpful. Thank you Oliver for helping my son with his wand. I learned a bit of what they do while they were making wands. 100% of the proceeds from their classes go towards helping the at risk youth of St Pete. They also hold events for the youth where they can create and design their own wooden crafts and have a day of fun. Amazing stuff. Other than wands, you can create bowls (duh), pens, bottle openers, wine stoppers...I'm sure there are more but that's all I can remember at the moment. Oh, this was such a fun night!…read more My friend had been here before. She has a long history of knowing fun places-and I happily followed her here. It was everything I hoped for and more. It's so colorful and cheerful inside. You can feel the creativity flowing and gelling. Inspo is everywhere. The staff were so welcoming and supportive-especially to someone who still paints like an elementary school kid (that would be me). We paid $10 for the special ghouls night out session... but I've heard you can do walk ins, too. There are shelves full of all sorts of figures and plates and other pottery to choose from. The prices are on the bottom-and that covers the paint and the firing. My friend and I had a table to ourselves-and could spread out our snacks and drinks (they had cupcakes, cookies and small cans of soda available but you can also byob and foods. We brought charcuterie items, champagne and pumpkin doughnuts). It was such a relaxing and happy experience-painting, snacking and chatting. The staff checks on you. You can also go ask for more paint at any time. My spider won't win any awards-but he sure was fun to decorate! I can't wait to see how he'll look after firing. I'm told the colors will darken. It should be ready for pickup in about a week. I'm told they have art classes, day camps and summer camps and that you can hold parties here. It's fun for all ages and I may bring my mom, sister and niece here for some three generation bonding. It's a comfortable space with lots of easy parking available. We were a little slow getting our projects done and they let us stay an hour later to get them done and even jumped in to help us! We felt so bad because they were closing but they never let us feel badly about it and were so supportive and helpful the entire way though! We each made 3 mini plank trays. They give you stencils and explain the different looks you can achieve as you go. As someone who isn't artistic at all these came out amazing! We plan on taking the weaving blankets class soon.

Madeline was our instructor and was fabulous. Very kind, informative and patient. We each created three pieces and were able to keep our two best. Once completed, we moved to the glazing station and were able to personalize our pieces. All materials were included. Bring a beach towel to throw over your lap to dry your hands and prepare to get a little messy! We met a lovely couple who were also "throwing" for the first time. It was a surprise birthday present from her husband. We had a lot of fun and can't wait to see our finished works of art once they are fired. Additionally they have lovely pieces for sale made by local artisans who rent cubicles in the studio.

I bought a deal on Groupon. Their website makes it easy to redeem your Groupon as you just pick the…read moreclass that is marked for Groupons. The only tricky part is that the classes are small so finding availability can be tough. One thing I will say is that if you purchase a Groupon, this is not a one-day task completion. You have to throw your pieces during the wheel class and then schedule yourself to come back in a few weeks after the pieces are dry and glaze your pottery. Then, you have to come back in a few weeks to pick up your finished pottery. My class was in mid-January. I came back to glaze in mid-February and then due to the coronavirus, I just picked up my finished pieces last weekend. They hold your finished pieces for about 3 months. The staff was very pleasant in all aspects of this business. I had to email early on since my Groupon was about to expire and they didn't have availability and they pleasantly let me know I could schedule even if my Groupon expired. I won't say that this will happen for you, but I thought it was nice. The lady that taught the wheel throwing class was also very patient and focused on making sure you made a quality piece that you could be proud of. You get to throw two pieces, so if you mess up one, then you have a backup. The class was for about 1-2 hours. When I came back to glaze about 3 weeks later, it was nice to just sit and paint amongst other amateurs guessing how their pieces would turn out after they were fired. It was kind of calming just painting. I had to email again to ask if I would be able to pick up my pieces as I didn't want them to be tossed out. The staff again kindly let me know how long they keep pottery. Then, coronavirus happened and I think everyone's policies changed daily. The staff still assured me that my pieces would be there when I contacted them through Facebook messenger. Nonetheless, I'm happy with the pieces I made. Even though the whole process from start to finish took a while, I think this activity was great for the price I paid on Groupon.
