Strange name aside, this place is GREAT. I just had my half-yearly exam/cleaning there. I decided to try this place because it was recommended highly on Nextdoor, and it also took my Delta Delta insurance. Before going, I had them confirm that they took my insurance and that the cleaning and xrays would be covered. I arrived with my two young boys in tow (it's winter break), and waited for about 25 minutes in the waiting area. This was somewhat off-putting, as my phone battery was slowly being drained away with keeping my 5 year old occupied, and I had a feeling the phone would die halfway through my cleaning. One of the technicians finally came to get me, apologizing for the wait. She was pleasant to me and my boys during our 10 minute exchange, in which she asked me questions about my oral health, took my blood pressure, and made arrangements for me to get my x-rays. Since the place is so large, they must have been seeing at least three other patients at the same time, and so I had to wait 15 minutes for the x-ray machine to become available. During that time, Dr. Chhina came in, introduced himself, looked at the x-rays from my previous dentist, and gave me the exam while I waited. He was super pleasant and professional, engaging me in light conversation. Declaring a clean bill of health for my teeth, Dr. Chhina shuttled me off to the x-ray room. What I appreciated is that while I was there taking my x-rays, the technician took my boys into the hygenist's room to entertain them. Once seated in the hygenist's chair, I was greeted by Chandra, who was beyond patient and hardworking. She gave me one of the most thorough cleanings I've ever had (and I don't say that lightly; I'm Type A-critical and borderline OCD). Of course, with such a thorough cleaning, there was a pretty decent amount of time that elapsed. By the time I was back in the car, I had been at the dentist for almost 2 hours. But you know what? It was worth it. They were totally cool about my kids being there, ever-so-patient with my boys' gabbing, fake gun shooting, and bickering, even taking one of my crying sons to get a toy from their toy box, and letting the other one grab a toy, too, at the end of my session. Dr. Erickson and his entire team are the best! He's been our family dentist for nearly 15 years. We first brought in our profoundly autistic daughter who needed a root canal and crown which required anesthesia when she was 9. We had received an original estimate from another dentist that was completely unaffordable for most families. During our search for an affordable but highly qualified dentist that could do the extensive dental work our daughter needed, Dr. Erickson was recommended by another consortium of well known dentists that did not have the technology (CERC) that was required on site. We were nervous about the general anesthesia, but found Dr. Erickson highly trained and experienced as well as kind and caring. He is a really nice person! So impressed with his skill afterwards we quickly made an appointment for our son, who was unable to sit still for even a minute due to his autism. While other dentists had found it an unworkable situation, Dr. Erickson and his hygienists were able to clean his teeth without anesthesia. Now our whole family have become his patients. He has extracted wisdom teeth, made retainers, filled cavities and placed dental crowns for us. His office staff is always warm and welcoming, organized, accommodating our last minute scheduling snafus plus give accurate estimates for our copays. Dr.Erickson's concern for his patients is outstanding, he called us at home to check on his patient's wellbeing. We suspect Dr. Erickson is also an outstanding employer as most of the staff that we met on our first appointment are still working there after fifteen years!! Highest recommendations. read more

I love this dental office!! My primary doctor, Dr. Mackenzie is amazing, quick, efficient and friendly! I had a terrible toothache and his office/staff quickly accommodated me around my schedule to take care of a root canal. And, they are open on Saturdays! Saturdays are perfect for my family. My husband does not have to get time off from work and my daughter does not have to miss out on school to be seen by the dentist or hygienist. One incident when I had a toothache, Dr. Mackenzie was not available so I was seen by Dr. Erickson and he was wonderful. Again, accommodating to my schedule to make sure I was no longer in pain. How great is that!? What's even better, is as soon as I saw my regular doctor he was already clued into what was going on. There are different doctors there but they all work together as a team to ensure great care. The assistants don't come any friendlier! Maria, Celeste and Jessica (just to name a few) were extremely helpful, funny and smart! The ladies at the front desk are always there to answer any question I have, with a smile. Dorothy is always on top of our treatment plan, insurance information and she is quick to respond to any questions or concerns I may have. With so many dental offices out there, I can finally take a sigh of relief because I am so happy with this dental office. The level of care is exceptional, great quality customer service is there and they are up to date with current dental technology. I broke my bottom molar in the middle of the night and when I tried to reach my family dentist of many years he was unavailable. So, I called our family's orthodontists office, Dr. Griggs, who I trust and respect implicitly. Dr. Griggs assistant suggested that I call Dr. Jeffrey Erickson at their Creative Dimensions in Dentistry's Castro Valley office. I was able to get an appointment that morning with Dr. Erickson, who confirmed that I needed a crown on that tooth. To my surprise, Dr. Erickson was not only able to prepare the tooth for a crown, his office also possessed the technology and equipment to scan my original tooth, mold a porcelain block to match my original tooth and bake the new porcelain tooth right there in the office while I waited. Dr. Erickson also made sure that the tooth fit perfectly into my Invisalign retainer, which I had brought with me just in case. I cant thank Dr.Erickson, his Dental Assistant, Darlene and receptionist Cindy for all of their help today. I might add that Cindy confirmed my insurance while I was filling out my new patient paperwork, so there were no surprises. After taking a full set of X-rays Dr. Erickson informed me that there were 2 other issues that need attention. so, of course, I scheduled another appt. I've been going to doctor Chhina for a little over two years now and with amazing results! The staff is incredible; from Stephany at the front desk, to Rebecca & Shirley making small talk in the chair, and to Dr. Chhina assuring me every step of the procedure along the way. The waiting room has always been clean even before the COVID restrictions. I actually had to go in parts of 2020 and was relieved how strictly they followed CDC guidelines: calling before entering the office, hand sanitizers everywhere, and staff was fully covered in protective scrubs. Even the little things were not overlooked as in cleaning the pens at the front desk, to putting my mask into a bag once I sat down in the patient chair. My procedure was somewhat complicated and I could not have chosen a better doctor. My whole experience with CDD has been positive. Dr. Chhina takes the time to explain the treatment plan as well as the details in each procedure. That's important to me because at the end of the day, I want to make sure that my health concerns are being addressed. They are like kids playing with toys. I went in last year for a cleaning after they canceled my delta plan, I was told that they would reimburse me in a couple weeks so it wasn't an issue. After having my cleaning I was told that I needed to get my cavity filled immediately (as in literally that moment) or else I would need a root canal. I am a lower income college student and can't afford paying $1000 out of pocket. They made me feel pressured into doing it after I told them that I wasn't comfortable especially since the Delta switch. I ended up doing it and paid $750 out of pocket and was PROMISED to get a full refund. Turns out they were wrong because I got a refund for $200. I ended up switching dentist and I just had my cleaning this morning and they told me that the filling they did that day, was POORLY done (which explains the extreme nerve pain). THE FILLING WAS DONE BY THE "OWNER" HIMSELF. Since it was done less than a year ago, my insurance won't cover the tooth filling again. Do NOT GO TO CREATIVE DIMENSIONS. read more

I don't like going to a dentist, never have, and until going to Creative Dimensions in Dentistry I would have said never will. Not so from this moment on. I did not have good teeth from years of avoiding going to the dentist: I had gaps, separations between teeth, chipped teeth and lastly the dingiest colored teeth imaginable . Let me cut to the chase. Dr Maass and his professional team of associates: Raeanne, Jenille and Linda did a wonderful job on making me smile again. They bonded, crowned, filled and whitened my teeth to the degree that I can now smile again and I want to share the experience with everyone who might feel as I felt before going to a dentist that they can also do this for you. I now have the greatest teeth in the world and cannot tell you how good it makes me feel. I did research on other dental alternatives (info commercials on TV: implants etc) but going to CDD allowed me to achieve my desired results without committing financial suicide and I love the result and recommend them to everyone... read more

My first visit to CDD started with a broken tooth and a frantic look in the Yellow Pages, yes they still exist. Dr. Erickson was wonderful, kind and did a fabulous job on a bad tooth. I couldn't recommend them more!! I have always been taken in for appointments on time and treated with caring. I've never felt rushed or that any question is unwelcome. I've had root canals and multiple crowns replacing older work in need of help:) Being a complete chicken, I have utilized their sedation dentistry, and always been more than pleased. How many other offices can do a root canal and a final crown in the same visit? They can, and they do it very well! Anyone looking for a dental group to meet all your needs look no longer! I've happily referred friends here and will continue to do so. Scheduling was fast and they did a great job accommodating my availability to get me seen sooner than I expected. Dr. Erickson and his assistant were very pleasant, efficient, and thorough during my exam. They explained what they were doing at every step and previewed potential treatment options for me along the way. The X-Ray technician was also great and got me in and out quickly and without any discomfort. I have been a patient at 3 offices in castro valley and all made me feel unwelcome, used financially, and unconcerned about my health. When I first started going to this office back in the mid eighty I had to have a lot of work done and sense then till know I have good healthy teeth and I know I have good dentist office to help keep my teeth the way they should be. I broke a big chunk of my lower tooth out eating chicken. Having heard great reviews about Creative Dimensions and Dr. Erickson I decided to have him repair my tooth. I came to his office after lunch, and they evaluated the tooth with an x-ray, then gave me laughing gas to help me to relax (at my request), and numbed me up (it was painless). They did a technique to repair my tooth which meant that I was able to get a crown in one visit, and the entire appointment was only about an hour and a half. My repaired tooth is beautiful. The entire staff was wonderful. Kudos to Carolyn for being a great assistant. The appointment itself was painless and I had little or no discomfort afterward. Just became a new customer today. The front desk was very welcoming. The techs (Stella, and a few more I can't remember their names) were kind and informative. Dr. Erickson was nice enough to extract my wisdom teeth, even though my appointment was suppose to be an exam and X-rays. The local anesthetic took 5-10 minutes while the extraction took 30 seconds. I really like how he did topical anesthetics then the injections, so the injections would hurt less. I also liked how he made sure I didn't feel any pain before extracting the tooth. He had to give me another injection after waiting for the numbness to kick in. Overall great experience. I also got a free Philips electronic tooth brush that syncs with your phone and lets you know if your brushing good enough. read more

We are patients of Dr. Mackenzie and he is the best dentist we've had and thats hard to find with two young children. Geraldine is our dental hygienist and she does a wonderful job cleaning our teeth. She is just a pleasure to chat with. It doesn't even seem like you're in a dental office it's like visiting friends.
