My daughter has been going to Creation Station for almost a year and we love it! She is 3 1/2 now and takes Ballet/Tap. We have also tried other fun classes like Hip Hop and Guys & Dolls which were offered to us for make up classes. All of the teachers as well as the owners who run the studio are very nice, professional, and they offer many classes and camps. There is a great large area for parents/caregivers to hang out and watch their children dance and there is a 1 way glass which is great so that the kids are not distracted. Such a great kids' dance studio! My daughter was extremely shy and anxious when she attended her first ballet class, but the owner (David) and the teacher (Miss Alli/Ally) helped my daughter feel so comfortable and welcomed on her first day. My daughter has loved all the teachers whom she's taken classes with including Miss Alli and Miss Paola...all so sweet. I love that this studio is so flexible when it comes to scheduling makeups (never had an issue getting classes booked) and I am so thankful that they don't force a dress code for the little, teeny ones. My daughter has been attending Creation Station and another dance school for just about a year, 2019-2020. She LOVES going, learning, and dancing with her teachers and classmates. Dave and Amy are so nice, approachable and fun, and all of the teachers are just so good with the kids. With the whole quarantine thing, I was worried we wouldn't have dance at all, but Creation Station has been wonderfully proactive with an available and flexible online schedule. I've had over 24 hours to decide whether to post this review. After careful consideration, I feel that it is important to share what my daughter experienced at this studio for any parent considering taking their child for a class. We are currently visiting from New York City and my daughter will be 3 next month. She is obsessed with ballet/ballerinas, but had never taken a class before. When our family here suggested we try a class at Creation Station, she could not have been more excited. When we arrived, we informed the front desk and the teacher that our daughter was not yet 3 and that this was her first dance class of any kind. They told us that she would be the youngest in class, but that she would be quite welcome. My wife and I looked through the window with joy as we watched our daughter experience ballet for the first time. A few minutes into class, she became friends with another girl in class and they even held hands for some of the exercises. It was adorable! When class let out all of the girls left smiling. Except my daughter and her new friend. They walked out gingerly and when I asked what happened, was told "All of the other girls got glitter, but we didn't because we didn't do good listening." To repeat... the teacher denied glitter to a 2 year old... who was taking her first ever dance class... for what she deemed a lack of listening. Her takeaway leaving the class should have been feelings of bravery for trying ballet for the first time, community for participating with other girls, and empowerment to want to come back. Instead, her feeling was shame. When we asked if she liked ballet, she only said "I didn't do good listening." She brought it up several more times throughout the night and my wife and I had to reassure her that she did nothing wrong and should be proud of herself for trying something new. I couldn't hear inside of the room and I do not know instruction she didn't follow. But I do know that it shouldn't matter. She's a toddler trying something new. An experience that should have built confidence actually stripped it. And something that she was looking so forward to was tainted. So as I sit here feeling proud of my girl, I feel that the community of Studio City should know that Creation Station is the party who should be ashamed. Shame on this teacher (you know who you are) for demeaning an innocent child. And shame on this studio for allowing this practice to occur. read more

My son and daughter are 7 and 5 and both started taking Happy Feet classes when they were 18 months. The classes are fun and developmentally appropriate. The teachers are fantastic, and Kaci, Sebastian, and Natalie really stand out. The owners, Amy and David, are the nicest people. You can tell they love what they do, and it's clear how much they care about the students and teachers. They've created such a positive dance community and we feel so grateful to be a part of it. Since March, Amy and David and the teachers have gone above and beyond to stay connected through an impressive schedule of virtual classes. This studio is a gem! read more

We've been coming to this studio off and on (mostly on) since our son was a toddler. Now our twin daughters are students, and they LOVE coming. The main reason why is the teachers (special shout-outs to Kaci and Natalie!) who are fun, kind, silly and somehow know how to manage a room of 4-yr-olds. Since the studio closed in mid-March, they've transitioned successfully to offering live, on-line classes. They have a full roster of classes, lots of teacher participation, and incredibly dedicated and supportive owners leading the way. Not only that, they've banked hundreds of videos on their YouTube channel so kids can revisit favorites, and they even have adult fitness classes! Though classes are usually once-a-week, the owners have opened the full schedule up so the kids can take as many as they want while they're stuck at home! I recently called to get my granddaughter into dance class seeing that her dance studio prior was not open just yet during covid-19. The gentleman on the phone was absolutely amazing warm and friendly I thought we had found the right place. I took my daughter to the studio and she joined the three-year-old class. As I waited in the lobby the owner was there and did not say one word to me there were other parents in the lobby they've known each other a long time as I could hear from theirconversation. At the end of class my granddaughter came out and no one said goodbye or did you want to register or how did you enjoy class. It wasn't very warm and friendly as a new student being black and the only African-American in the class it is very hard to decide if we were just invisible or they just didn't care to be friendly or to ask how old was my granddaughter nice to have you here for the first time are you ready to register or after the first free class would you like to register. It was nothing no one even bother to say goodbye. That was my experience. read more

I would not encourage you to sign up for these classes. With so many fun programs and activities for kids in LA, your money and time is much better spent elsewhere. Firstly, the facilities are honestly gross. It looks like the floors and walls haven't been cleaned in 10 years. There is 1 cramped hallway where the parents of 20+ kids are allowed to look through tiny little windows to watch their kids during class. The reason for this tiny hallway is because of a policy that 2 parents can't be in the room at once during class. Fine, fair enough. But to take it to an absurd level, parents can't even switch out halfway through class so that each can experience time with their kids. This is a Sunday morning dance class for 18 month olds, it really can't be that serious. This rule was never mentioned, but when my husband and I tapped out to spend time with our son inside the room, the owner barged in and reprimanded my husband in front of the entire class like he was a child. We had been wanting to cancel our month try out after 2 classes but gave it one last shot. Thankfully the owners rude and antagonizing behavior made the choice very easy for us. Honestly weird vibes all around- the exception being the great instructor, Ms Marley! If you want to spend your lovely Sunday mornings in a blacked out 2 foot hallway in studio city, while being yelled at by an owner who thinks 18 month olds should be operating like the New York City ballet then this is definitely the class for you! read more

Although my daughter as just been to one class so far, I agree with everyone else that this place is worth the five star rating. A year ago, my daughter was enrolled in the la ballet academy in Encino. Although the place was very professional, most of the staff and parents were very snotty. We could only take one semester session with them. This of course led us to look for a quality ballet studio that was geared towards children and was also fun for the parents. When we moved to studio city it seemed like every mom with a pint size ballerina recommended creation station. Sure enough yelpers also agree that creation station was the place to go. A few weeks ago, Lilly put On her tutu and headed to Her first class. The children and parents were very nice and the teachers were amazing. By amazing I mean they actually related and got down on Lilly's level(bonding over dance moves to my little pony). The owners(husband and wife) are very nice and helpful too. They switched our clAss time several times for our family and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. My only complaint(and its not that big of a deal) are the chalk boards under the front desk:) I wasn't expecting them to be there and I did get colorful chalk all over my jeans. So if you see a bunch of moms wondering around the valley with chalk all over their jeans, just know that they love their kids and go to one of the coolest dance studios in town:) read more

We've been taking our 18 month old daughter to classes and have enjoyed them but we won't be going back after our most recent experience with the owner. Our daughter's grandparents were visiting so my wife and I brought them to the class. The class usually only allows one adult at a time, and we'd switch out halfway through so my wife and I each got to spend time with our daughter on the weekends as we both work during the week. This week my wife and her mother swapped out instead. Towards the end of the class, the owner came in, interrupted the class to call us out in front of all of the families and children saying that we weren't allowed to switch out at all during the class. It's one thing to have a policy and enforce it but this has never been how the class was run and the way the owner communicated with us was disrespectful and unprofessional. We wish the owner handled this differently because the class and Ms. Marley the teacher was great. read more

Couldn't love this place more. I have been coming here for 3 years now, first with my older daughter and now with my younger one. We have had maybe 5 or 6 different teachers over the years and they have all been stellar. The owners are lovely, lovely people. The recitals are so well run and organized. We shopped around 5 different studios before we settled with this one. I liked how structured the class was. They didn't just go straight into dancing, it was an intro where all the kids sit together and introduce themselves, then dance routines after. Miss Jackie is lovely and great with the kids! My daughter cannot get enough of this place and always asks when she can go back. They do offer slippers/tap shoes rentals as well, which is a plus if you don't want to shell out $$ for shoes. The only reason why I deducted a star is because the front desk/receptionist could be improved. Every single time I have come, no one greets you and it's very awkward and not welcoming at all. The first time I came here for a trial class, none of the ladies greeted us and we had no idea what had to be done as far a registering so we just sat there dumbfounded. I eventually had to get up myself and ask what to do.... There is a gentleman who we met one day that was actually very helpful and was pleasant to speak to. It pains me to have to update my review but after attending classes for 3 years, I had to pull my daughter out of classes here because of an interaction I had with the owner. On March 3rd, I brought my daughter to make up a class. I had also brought my toddler son. The owner came to me as I was outside with my son and told me about a hip hop class for his age group. I told him I was interested in the class because we didn't want to put him in the regular dance class that's ballet based. The owner then yelled at me saying, " Its 2018! GET OVER IT!!" All of this was outside, with my toddler son, and other people in earshot. Then he said, "I'm not trying to get political with you. I'm just trying to run a business." I was shocked and didn't know how to feel. I wasn't criticizing anyone or anything; I was just stating my opinion about MY SON and MY FAMILY. I felt super uneasy but I had to wait for my daughter to finish class. As I sat in the lobby, the owner came up to me and my son AGAIN and asked me why I didn't take my son inside of the class that he yelled at me about. He didn't apologize or even seem remorseful about our interaction and it made me feel unwelcome and ashamed. After we left, I felt so embarrassed and I was on the verge of tears. Also his comment about him just running a business let me know that they don't care about me or my family; they are just trying to turn a profit even if they just humiliated a loyal customer of 3 years. I decided then to sever our relationship with the dance studio. I did speak to the wife, Amy, a couple of weeks later and told her about my exchange with her husband. She apologized profusely and said that he should not have said that to me. What was done was done though and I already enrolled my daughter elsewhere. I don't have any tips or recommendations here. All I can reiterate is the following: It is never okay for anyone to yell at anyone. If the owner disagreed with me, he could have stated that respectfully. You would think this is common sense for adults, but obviously this owner forgot his manners and now he's lost a customer. Oh well... read more

Creation Station is such a fun and easy going place. I have two girls who have started with Happy Feet classes. My youngest is taking karate and ballet. My oldest is 9 and is now taking ballet2 with Ms. Kacee, which is a real ballet dance experience, while still being fun and easy going. There are so many options for ALL kinds of kids. They have wonderful recitals twice a year, and it's just the most family friendly place you could go to with your kids. We have formed some wonderful friendships just by hanging out there over the years. I totally recommend this place for everyone. I also wanted to note that making up classes is super easy here, they totally understand busy families and you can make up a missed class in any of the classes they offer, not just the one you are signed up for. read more

The owners, Amy & David have a real love for dance and children and their joy is infectious throughout the studio. As the kids get older, they learn more about being in a group setting or on a dance team in G-Pac if they go that direction. we love this place. we've been taking classes here for over 3 years. parents of tutu-donning princesses schlep here from all over town and this is why. TEACHERS we've never had a bad teacher, from Miss Melodee to Miss Kelly--truly, they are all amazing. their teaching style is great--the goal is to have fun and they strike the delicate balance between being nurturing, yet structured. OWNERS Amy & David are also wonderful. they send out emails if your instructor is going to be out and i love the way they organize the annual recital. tickets and costumes are not outrageously expensive (as with other studios); it's super-organized (ie, when it's your kid's turn to perform, you move up to the front of the audience); and, it's stress-free with no pressure on the little ones. it's all about having fun. ICING ON THE CAKE as a bonus, when you're stuck in the lobby for an hour or in the parent-participation classes, you get to know some of the other parents and it has become a nice community for us. PRICING rates are $20/class, a tad higher than other studios or enrichments. i wouldn't mind if it were easier for us to take make up classes. when we have to miss a few classes for two girls, that's a $120 down the drain. read more

Love it! My daughter started at Creation Station when she was only 22 months with Miss Kelly. It was the perfect introduction to dance. She took classes until she was four-years-old and we moved out of the area. I can't speak highly enough about the staff, the owners (Amy and David), and the other parents involved. I was a little nervous that my older daughter would 'age out' as most of the classes are for little kids, but they've grown their class list to meet the needs of their clients so she is happily in a hip hop class with other kids her age. Please note, it was not a good experience to work with Creation Station. the 1st day we came in, I talk to the owner David, I express that we have a busy schedule and that I was possible interested in getting my 3 kids for a Dance class, this guy will try to sell you anything. In order to built a creative relationship with this dance school, you have to have a VISA, MasterCard or American express. This institution will automatically pre-charge you a monthly membership with out your consent and if your kids did not fell comfortable with the class, creation station will charge your card after you cancel. One of the policies they have is take money NO refunds, even after you have cancel your unauthorized membership. They did not ask why my daughter did not fell comfortable with the class read more

Very, very organized and so easy to work with even if you have a busy schedule. Make ups are very easy to do. The teachers are the best. We love coming here for my 4-year-old daughter's ballet and tap class - Ms Casey is so lovely with the class, and Ms Amy and Mr David are fab to talk to/get help from, even when it's busy and hectic, they always find time. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Creation Station and the lovely family that runs it. I have two daughters, 8 and 4, both of whom have been dancing at Creation Station since they were 18 months old. Now my older one spends 8-9 hours a week there and is part of the dance team. Never has there been a moment when we felt that our daughters weren't properly cared or looked out for, and any concerns we've ever had, however minor, have been respectfully listened to and dealt with. Amy and David also have their priorities straight. Whether it's a baby class or teenagers, their professed goal has always been to turn out "good people" rather than "great dancers." We are so happy that we have become part of the amazing Creation Station family. read more
