Milton originally came out to meet us and to provide an estimate, which we greatly appreciated, and it was right on-point at payment time. So important! The packing team was very good; they packed us up quickly and carefully. (While I'm still unpacking, all my breakables are so far in great shape!) They were friendly and professional. The next day, a different team handled the move and these guys worked so so hard! They were also very careful, efficient, and friendly, despite the very steep staircase in our condo. I honestly don't know how they did it. Overall, a very good experience with both teams! Thank you Milton and teams! The movers did not come from the location that I called adding additional unknown cost. There was some initial confusion about when the movers were set to arrive. At first, I was told it was going to be a morning move, and then the night before got a call saying it would be an afternoon moving. Then the morning of the move, I got a call saying they were an hour away. It added unnecessary frustration and confusion. I thought the movers really took their time and lacked hustle. My 10 minute relocation took 6 1/2 hours. Granted it was a hard move to the third floor with no elevator, but at the end of the day they couldn't reassemble my bed. I still have furniture that's wrapped in moving material. I also have some furniture that was reassembled incorrectly. The movers did what they could, but could've been more communicative and could've benefited from more training & support from the front office.

Because of the delay, the move couldn't be completed that evening and had to be finished the next day. What should have been a straightforward, small move became a stressful, two-day costly process. The biggest issue was poor communication and unrealistic scheduling, compounded by impersonal, automated (i.e., AI-generated) responses when I raised concerns. I appreciate the effort of the moving crews, but the overall experience fell far short due to management and coordination issues. I definitely would not recommend.

My original plans were coming undone when the POD that was scheduled to hold & ship my belongings was looking smaller & smaller. Plus, the company recommended by PODS for packing services failed to show up. Deb presented me with several options including interstate moving & storage with Star. Since she had taken a detailed inventory of my belongings, she also calculated that my initial moving plans were still viable. I decided to book labor only packing services & Deb accommodated my POD packing that same day. Enter Joe, Adam, Harrison & Quan-- the four tasked with packing a 500 square inch POD with many, many things. These folks were razor sharp & approached loading the POD like a game of Tetris! Joe explained that he had spent years organizing packages for FedEX & he thoughtfully considered the placement of every one of my items. Also, I have never seen any mover handle my things as carefully as Quan. Adam & Harrison were also master packers and they were also patient with my very protective dog. The four were a joy to meet. They were skillful & just plain cheerful-- there was no indication that my service had been added on, last minute, at the end of their work day. I have worked with several moving companies in the Hampton Roads area. Star Movers are truly stellar.
