Another of Bristol's free attractions is Bristol's 'environment hub', the CREATE Centre, which is housed in an old tobacco warehouse a little way from the city centre (look out for the big, square redbrick buildings with rows upon rows of windows, and it's one of those).
CREATE hosts a whole host of events, conferences and exhibitions relating to the environment, such as art using recycled products, and also has a café overlooking the River Avon. Next to the main warehouse building there's an Ecohouse that's open to visitors, which offers inspiration for environmentally friendly domestic practises that you can follow at home and in the garden. Volunteers are scattered about to guide you and answer any questions, too. My first visit to CREATE was for a work-related conference, but since then I've been back to revisit the Ecohouse (and make notes!). It's worth knowing that the Ecohouse is only open in the afternoon, from 12-3pm, and the café is open for breakfast (including Full English!) from 8.30am - 11am and for lunch from 12-2pm. read more
