When wandering in the heart of Easton I've often walked past a huge red brick building and wondered what it was. Until a few weeks back.
Inside, Mivart Street Studios, full of artists of all genres, occupy the former Victorian factory squeezed into a residential street off St. Mark's Road.
It has various industries over the last hundred years including aircraft construction and clothing manufacture. Now it houses an eclectic mix of artists, makers, designers, performers, musicians, furniture makers and small businesses. The waiting lists for artists are all booked up for a VERY long time into the future though, bad news for budding artists.
Mivart Artists hosts its annual open studios in early October. They also played host to the Compass Festival of Mystery last year.
A really interesting space creating some really eclectic work. read more
