In May 2023 we hired Dry Otter to encapsulate our crawl space, install a French drain, sump pump…read moreand a dehumidification system as we almost always had standing water under the house. We were very, very impressed with both the quality of work that Cory, Noah and Desmond provided but also with the customer service that was provided immediately after when we experienced an issue. The morning after they finished the work we awoke to no hot water and no air conditioning. We checked everything we knew to check on our end with no success. Then we call Dry Otter. Our thought at that point was that in doing the work under the house some wires to the other units had accidentally been pulled loose enough to cause problems but not loose enough to be noticed. They very quickly sent a team out to go back in and look. When their team couldn't find anything, they upped their game and called in an electrician. He was able to fix the issue with the hot water heater. That left the AC unit. It was still not working and it was hot outside. So, we called our HVAC guy that we have used for years. Our guy came out, found that problem quickly and fixed it. I went ahead and paid him, then called Dry Otter for reimbursement which they did very rapidly. So long story short, their customer service is great as well. Were they the cheapest of the 6 companies we got quotes from? No, they were about in the middle. But we were very impressed with them from the very beginning and were impressed all the way to the end.

Communication with Dry Otter has been my biggest problem. They completed most of the job over two…read moreweeks ago but I'm still waiting on the electrical work to be finished [this part is subed out but still on the contract with them. I have not recieved a call/text/email telling me when this will be completed. I have tried calling was told they would be back to me with a day and time. Dry Otter has also left a large air buffer in my house, you would think they may need this.

Over the year we've lived in our new CLT house, we obtained 4 quotes to address drainage issues,…read moredescribed by the previous owner as a "little seepage with heavy rains" in the basement storage area, which turned out to be a "lot of seepage with moderate rains". Most of them suggested solutions that seemed to be wasted money, everything from blasting through the basement floor to create new drains, to replacing vapor barriers and sealing up the basement and crawl space, etc. Nick at Drain Designs Charlotte suggested instead a set of new drains to take downspout and runoff water away from the house to a back culvert. Made sense. Job completed a couple of weeks ago. After, we had a few light rains so the ground had some moisture a then a 2" steady rain - instead of water seeping in from all sides of the basement, there was a small trickle at one side. Then next day, around the corner with the trickel, I banked dirt against the house to slope away from the house towards the new drains Nick's team had installed. Next day we had a solid 1" of rain - a few drops entered at that corner. It's not perfect, but for an 85-year-old house, we're pretty darn pleased. We recommend Nick and Drain Designs.

I wrongly assumed a company with Crawlspace in their name could repair structural issues (water…read moredamage to structural beams ). I was wrong, I described the issue and they came out to do the structural work. My floor was sloping as I told them before, during work and after the work. They said they had done all they could do. I had to hire a structural engineer to inspect their work. They came back and made a change to the work they did do. However, the structural engineer discovered the real issue with the slope was something else. In summary, this company should not be doing structural work and I would not hire them to do structural work. I don't believe their error was out of ignorance of their expertise but a desire to make a buck regardless Additionally the communication was amateurish. One hand didn't know what the other was doing. They scheduled some work but didn't inform me they they'd scheduled it. one guy would tell me something and the other man hadn't been kept informed.

I would not recommend using Groundworks in Belmont, North Carolina, for foundation or concrete…read morerepair services. After receiving a quote, taking pictures for 2 hours and paying our deposit, we waited 3 1/2 weeks for our scheduled concrete lifting repair. During the initial consultation, we were assured the repair would not be a problem. However, when the two technicians arrived, they spent about 15 minutes assessing the situation before leaving, stating they could not complete the job. What was even more frustrating was the lack of communication afterward. We spent the next 12 hours trying to reach someone at the local branch to discuss the issue and find a resolution for this much-needed repair. Despite repeatedly requesting a phone call, no one ever contacted us. Instead, all communication was handled through text messages. We were eventually informed that a waiver would be required, something that was never discussed during the consultation. At that point, we requested a full refund of our deposit. In all my years, I have never experienced such poor communication and customer service from a company. Based on our experience, I would encourage others to proceed with caution when considering Groundworks in Belmont, NC.

We went over everything that was to be done and verified all the locations around the house. Edwin and Taylor the other team members got to work right away. Jonathan took beginning, unprocessed and completed photos and videos. The team cleaned up the worksite beautifully. While Taylor and Edwin finished loading the truck I went over the job and viewed the photos and videos Jonathan had taken.
