On 4/18/2025 I went to the Cravens and Noll office in Colonial Heights to have a very simple will prepared. Before being given an appointment I was required to pay $200. My appointment lasted 20 minutes. I was required to pay another $ 500 for a total of $700 which is non-refundable. It has been nearly 2 MONTHS and still no will. Calls to the office go unanswered. Voice mails are not returned. I am 80 years old and feel taken advantage of by this firm. I have filed a complaint with the BBB but so far no response. I would never recommend this firm. They have taken $700 of my small savings and have not delivered my requested will!! read more

....Attorney Noll handled my divorce in 2021. It was a difficult process but he remained professional. I started to have an issue with some paperwork relating to my divorce. But I would like to be clear, this issue did not relate to the handling of my case. It resulted from a mistake that another company made. Attorney Noll gave me hope when I did not think it was possible. When I contacted him, he researched the problem and gave me a solution. He did not have to do this but he did this free of charge. Hired this clown years ago in a divorce proceeding. A big incompetent blow hard that steals clients money at the drop of a hat. Never returned calls or took a proactive position in my case. I can readily see why the reviews are as bad as they are. One star is generous by any stretch The law firms tag line is, they'll be your lawyers for life which is not a joke. If you engage with this firm their incompetence will require you to be with them for life or until they have bled your bank account dry. read more

Beware of this law firm, specifically Kent Benninger. Kent did not provide proper representation throughout my divorce case. I retained Kent in August 2021 for $7500 with an agreed upon monthly payment of $100, (that eventually increased to $255) payments were always paid in full, as well as on time. In addition Kent charged me $365 an hour to work on my case. With an hourly rate this high I expected really great customer service. In my case I was the plaintiff and filed for a civil contested divorce. The defending attorney to ran circles around Kent for the full 2 years we battled this out. Kent was never proactive, throughout the entire process he was reactive. He allowed the defending attorney to choose our guardian ad litem. I expressed my issues with this choice and why it was a bad idea and why the GAL should be selected by a 3rd party. Kent refused my request to obtain an impartial GAL and signed off on the GAL selected by the opposing side. This was against my wishes, Kent stated he had the right to make that choice against my wishes and he would not see to it that it be changed, as I requested. During the discovery process Kent decided on which items he wanted to submit, and left some documents out because he decided they weren't relevant. Other documents were lost along the way (and some later turned up during depositions, on the record). I was held accountable for his actions and penalized. During this process Kent went on to sign more documents without consulting with me. These documents had changes from the temporary order received earlier in the year. These changes greatly affect my life and my children's lives. Kent failed to speak up in court when the defending attorney asked that I pay appraisal fees when the decision had already been agreed on that I would not be responsible for these fees. Kent refused to subpoena a 3rd party individual to a hearing. This person held relative information against the defendant. Months later he attempted to subpoena the 3rd party to depositions. Unfortunately he failed to do so in time, of which I wasn't made aware of until I was at the deposition.... by the defending attorney. Kent went on to charge me for the subpoena process. I had to go around him to get this charge removed from my outstanding balance, because he refused to acknowledge his mistake. His only attempt at representing my case was to go after my ex husband's finances, and he still failed to effectively represent me and recoup my portion of the $130,000 my ex husband squandered away in less than 9 months. Kent failed to present supporting evidence to the judge that proved the cruelty and abuse I endured during my marriage. I know during a civil contested divorce things can get very hostile, and there are certainly things that popped up beyond his control. I take in to account that Kent can not be responsible for other peoples choices and their actions. My review is solely based on his lack of attention to my case, refusing to right his wrong doings, refusing to listen to my request (within reason) and his overall lack of proper customer service. It speaks for itself that the majority of Craven and Noll's negative reviews are about Kent Benninger. In an attempt to resolve this issue I was encouraged to speak with Kent about my concerns and for the both of us to come to an agreement in regard to the remaining balance I currently owe. Kent's best offer was to take $1,500 off the outstanding balance in exchange for me to sign a waiver to not give him a poor review. I declined that offer. At this point I feel it is more important to speak truthfully on my experience with Kent and Cravens and Noll, to hopefully forewarn perspective clients. After the poor service received during one of the most stressful times in my life. I would never recommend Kent nor a firm that condones his misrepresentation and antics. read more

If I could give a negative one I would. Against my better judgement (due to a negative experience I had with this firm in the past. I had to request a refund to get things moving) I contacted this firm because my mother likes "her" lawyer. I contacted Cravens & Noll in regards to having a deed drawn up on my mothers house in February! I paid 500.00 on Feb 3 and 4 months later I have nothing to show for my 500.00! I was asked to provide information about a deed book and page number and when I explained I didn't know what that was, there was no more communication! i must be stupid because I thought that's what I was paying this firm to do...research and leg work. Every communication between this firm and myself was initiated by me. Today (May 16 2023) when I asked to speak with someone (the office manager) I was told she was in a meeting but someone would be contacting me by the end of the day. Stupid stupid stupid me! I finally called at 4:10 and was told an email was sent to me. No email no phone call. Now I'm being told that the partners and the attorney have to meet to determine the best way to handle this. I of course replied that I just want my money back since I feel like this is fraud due to I paid for service and got nothing in return. Beware! read more

I hired this firm for a custody case. The guardian ad litem helped in my case more than the attorney I paid. I have not yet received my documents, my order is says that I have joint legal custody as my previous order stated and my previous order stated that I had full legal custody. My attorney forgot important documents that on our court date, luckily I brought my own copies which he kept and now he has my copy and his. I never once received anything stating what I was charged for and where my retainer fee and monthly payment was going. Any other attorney I have ever had has given me a monthly statement, a bill at the end or a refund. They keep telling me that they will call me back and here we are a year later with no answers. read more

Unfortunately I had this all typed up and lost it. So here goes again: We hired Cravens and Noll (Harrisonburg office-Eppa). Would've been better off doing it ourselves-we had to file bankruptcy). I had to stay in top of them to get it filed. Every time I had to call - which was a lot - they would usually have to call us back. Calls backs rarely happened-it would take multiple calls. Appear to me they really didn't know what they were doing. We didn't include our vehicle or home in the bankruptcy, which seems to confuse them. After finally staying on top of them after a longer then normal bankruptcy filing, we finally went to court. Yay I thought we were finally done-wrong! So after it going to court and everything going through things weren't totally correct it seems. Like the house and car appearing to be listed as included bankruptcy -as far as we could tell. Also, one of our credit cards that were in the bankruptcy have continued to take money from our account. Numerous times/calls to them about it yielded no response. Finally one of my calls was answered by one of the other locations and they got me in touch to actually speak to Eppa. He was not really paying any attention to what I was saying and sounded like I was inconveniencing him. He kept saying ok, ok I'll look in to it. I knew then they weren't gonna help us fix anything. And guess what I was right---he didn't do crap. So we are left after paying them their money still trying to deal with this crap. DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY!!!!! They aren't worth even a penny.
