Great place to bring a big group of people (you can have up to 50 people at once) and camp out for a night. It's really close to camelback mountain so there are plenty if attractions near by if you have kids. Also, there are restrooms on premises so that definitely helps. Definitely recommend it, just make sure to bring some warm clothes because it can be pretty freezing here at night!

Really awesome place if your looking for actual camping. Linda the owner was super nice we basically had the place to ourselves so she let us go wherever we wanted. There's a nice pool but not much for children to do as far as activities and crap which is fine for me and my friends bc we just wanted to hang out and drink and cook. Clean bathrooms and nice views super close to town and the water gap. Roads aren't really paved which again I prefer as I wanted to camp and not stay in a 5 star RV with a television and full kitchen lol. Nobody bothered us and I have no complaints!

The staff was friendly and since we have kids were were happy they enforced quiet hours of 10pm. The bathroom was clean and new, however you have to hold the chain to get water. If you do not hold the chain, there is no water so you stand there freezing while you shampoo your hair. We were able to see wildlife and even went fishing. Luckily the pool and playgrounds were open. There is 2 different playgrounds which is exciting for toddlers. They also have a place you can mine for gems, which the kids enjoyed. Unfortunately, due to COvid, some activities were closed, but it seems like there is tons of stuff normally. It does seem to be primarily RVs but that's not a problem for us. We will likely go back next year.

Attention campers from Texas (and many other states!) - Do not make a reservation here unless you…read moreare willing to be confined to your camp site for 14 days. That includes using the restrooms or taking your dog to the dog park. This confinement policy is nowhere on their site and we didn't find out until we read the fine print of the deposit confirmation. You know - AFTER we had paid the $350 deposit for 3 week stay! As soon as we realized we couldn't take our dog to the dog park, we immediately called to cancel the reservation, only a day and a half after we made it. We were planning to leave Texas on the 1st, arrive there on the 3rd and stay until the 24th. It's not fair to the dog to keep him chained up and on leash for two weeks, and the dog park was one of the reasons we chose the place. I called to explain the situation and they did cancel the reservation, but then refused to refund the deposit, because "We've held that site for you". For a day?! And when I tried to explain that had their policy been anywhere on the site we wouldn't have made the reservation in the first place, I was met with attitude, rudeness and then the lady hung up on me! I would have even been happy with a half refund. And I don't even have a problem with the policy! Just tell me before hand so that I know this is something I can't do! This is essentially a bait-and-switch: I paid for something I'm not allowed to use I'm disappointed because we were really looking forward to the trip and the campsite looked great. Before I made the call to their office, I was even planning to go there at some point in the future. But now, between their business practices and flat out rudeness, that's not going to happen. I'm attaching 2 pictures - one is the reservation confirmation with NO mention of the policy and the other is the deposit receipt with first mention of the quarantine policy in fine print at the very bottom of a long email. And I hate that I have to give them any stars at all.

Which was great because the lot was very full. There are two walk up windows to check in. I walked up to the window and had to wait literally 1 min; the line was short and quick. The girl found my reservation went over paper work that needed to be filled out, was very friendly and helpful. I will say the other girl was not particularly friendly. They're talking to you threw a window and I am partially deaf, when I asked the girl to repeat the last thing she said she was so annoyed she spoke in short sentence like I was dumb. And just before she helped me there was another group of girls that seemed to be very annoyed with her because she refused to help them. Like I said there were two lines and they were in her line but she wanted to help the gentlemen infront of me in the other line. Idk why, he wasn't even paying attention and only needed to drop his car keys off. Whatever. We grabbed our life vests, got our overview of the river and quickly hopped on a very nice, 12 pax van. It was about a 10 min ride to the drop off area which wasn't bad. I really liked that the staff grabs your kayak and paddle and brings it to the water. All you have to do is sit down and paddle away. There is another company that shared the drop off area so just be aware that you don't get the wrong kayak lol The DR is beautiful. The water is so nice and clean. There are lots of places to stop off at to eat lunch or take a swim. There were a lot of people camping along the banks. So be mindful of that when pulling off to a beach. When we go to our pick up location it was just as smooth as our drop off spot. You just paddle to the beach and a staff grabs your kayak and pulls you in. You take your things and they take the kayak and paddle. At the top of the stairs you just walk to the right and the van is waiting to take you back. Overall, wonderful company to book a kayak or raft from to enjoy the beautiful river. In highly recommend and will rebook with them. I recommend wearing a hat and water shoes and bringing a cooler for drinks and snacks.

(This was a few months ago so the details could be a bit iffy.)…read more This was a very impromptu trip and everything at Edge of the Woods makes doing that easy. Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

I spent 3 days 2 nights here with my partner on a church retreat in June. This was my first church…read moreretreat so I didn't have any expectations. The place is big. It's so big, they were accommodating 3 different groups the weekend I was there. The room I stayed in had a queen size bed and 2 sets of bunk beds. I didn't get to visit other rooms to see what other layouts they had. I did hear something about a family room which accommodates families with children. For my room, the bathroom was small. They provide hotel size body wash, shampoo, and bar of soap. Definitely bring your own toiletries because what they provide was for appearances only. The bed was comfortable but I didn't sleep on their sheets. Before the retreat, everyone told me to bring a sleeping bag. The majority of my church group brought a sleeping bag and laid it on top of the bed to sleep. Which I did the same. One of the reasons for one negative star is the meal time. Breakfast was 8am to 9am, lunch was 12pm to 1pm, and dinner was 5pm to 6pm. I thought breakfast and lunch were too close together. I felt like I had to force myself to eat at lunch even though I wasn't really hungry. But if I didn't eat, I would have to wait until 5pm. Dinner at 5pm was ideal for me because that's when I eat dinner in general. However a lot of the retreat events ended 11pm. My church provides us with nighttime snacks. Definitely bring snacks with you and a gallon of water if you come here. In the cafeteria, when it's mealtime, it can get very crowded but the lines move fast since there are multiple serving stations. The food was good. They changed the menu each day. Throughout our stay, we mostly hung out at the chapel for the services. When we did small groups, we were able to find space outside or go to someone's room. The days we had free time, there were many activities here. Some people played pickleball or tennis. There was an outdoor swimming pool that was opened in the afternoon on Saturday. I didn't see anyone use the indoor swimming pool. It was a game room with air hockey and ping pong. My partner and I did the paddle boat. There was also a playground for kids. Just taking a walk around the place is a fun activity. However, the biggest downside and contribution to one less star was the goose poop. They were everywhere!! My morning walk with my partner was mostly focused on not stepping on poop. Our last night, my church had a bonfire. This place supplied the wood. Of course our guys went crazy and wanted to make the biggest fire possible. Haha. All in all, it was a nice place to have the retreat
