Been going about two years. Moved to Virginia and my husband and I still drive to Greenbelt twice a year to have Dr. Sharon clean our teeth. She is thorough, very experienced, and knowledgeable. When she evaluates our teeth and gums, she is frank about my needs. She doesn't upsell, she educates. Dr. Smith gave me a double permanent bridge (two crowns) after the Pandemic. He saved my teeth. His work was excellent and fairly priced. My post-procedure hygiene was carefully explained and I was given what I needed to keep my gums healthy. Extremely pleasant and professional staff. No fake appointment times---the time when you are scheduled is the time you're seen. Clean and sterile environment. Everyone is super friendly, and they educate you about your the health of your teeth: what you can do to make improvements and how to prevent cavities, gingivitis, etc. There's no need to be scared! They send out text reminders for appointments, which helps a lot. I forgot about the last two I got, but the third was what got me to come in. And they aren't annoying. They're infrequent; yet routine enough to get the point across. Love the fact that Dr. Craig is a black dentist..I am all about supporting my people in business/professional services. I am new to the area and visited this office for the first time this week.Overall, I was really pleased with my cleaning as I usually DREAD it. The dental hygenist was quick yet thorough, answered all my questions, and was very kind. The front desk staff was also great. The dentist came in shortly at the end and was friendly & provided great info. I look forward to my next appointment here Only reason for less than 5 stars.... Since I am a new patient, I got there around 2:50 for a 3:00 appointment. The doors were locked and I was very confused. Their voicemail says they are closed for lunch until 2:30, so I sat in my car continuing to be confused until about 3:01 when the staff came back from lunch. I was immediately concerned that my appointment would start much later because of this..but nope! After some quick paperwork, I was still seen right away. read more

When I came in to the office, Octavia, the fabulous front-liner, was just as easy, professional, and very friendly as she was on the phone when I made the appointment. Dr. Smith was warm and very friendly. When he checked me, he told me what needed to be done. I was redirected to Octavia who gave me a detailed sheet on what needs to be done and how much it's going to cost. I appreciated that very much because I do not like surprises a couple of weeks after any procedure. The staff is extremely pleasant and courteous. HOWEVER, if you choose this business, I recommend you not pay a dime before checking with your insurance company. I was told I needed a fluoride treatment during my cleaning. I asked if it was covered under my insurance. I was told by the dentist's assistant that the treatment was not covered as adult fluoride treatments are rarely covered by insurance companies; however I really needed the treatment to protect my teeth. I agreed to the $40 treatment. I confirmed again at the front desk that my insurance did not cover the treatment and was told it did not. I paid and left. 2 months later I received a bill from my insurance company showing they paid $40 to the dental office. I contacted the office on several occasions for a refund and was told they'd look into it and have the money refunded to my bank account. At one point it was suggested I have the money credited to future dental appointments to which i declined as most of my appointments are free. It's been over 6 months now with no response. Additionally, I was told during my second appointment that I brushed too hard and brushed off a filling surrounding a tooth. This filling had been done by a different dentist's office a few years prior. I'd never noticed anything wrong until after my first visit. Now, they'd like $100 to replace it. This review is more of the staff than the doctor. I had been to a different dentist in Greenbelt for some molar pain. After being assured that they accepted my insurance, and being given a referral, I got to the second dentist's office only to hear from the first office that they didn't take my insurance, and my referral was void! Fortunately, I called this office. They allowed me to make a late appointment, were courteous and professional (but not stuffy!) and got me the referral I needed. Since I brought in my x-rays and all my other paperwork, I was in and out in 15 minutes. I will be making all my future appointments at this office. read more

Yes the front office staff is nice. But the dentist is not a good guy he only wants to make money off of you I give the one star and not 0 if it were possible because of the nice front staff the practices only good face. Craig Smith was my dentist for my family for almost 2 years until... I had two crowns placed on my chewing teeth. I then started having the worst jaw pain ever! I never had jaw pain until he touched my mouth. I then repeatedly went back to their office about the pain. Instead Dr. Smith suggested painkillers and diagnosed me with TMJ and said I grind my teeth at night and I need a $500 mouth guard. I was in extreme pain from April( when I got the crowns) till September(when I finally went to a new dentist). I tried the store bought mouth guard(poor me I tortured myself cause I didn't need it)i actually repeatedly said to him my jaw doesn't feel aligned because this pain is not normal but he IGNORED my repeated complaints and said I just need the $500 mouth guard instead of the cheap one because how much u spend on these mouth guards does matter. So long story short my new dentist looked at my jaw and said the new crowns were too high and needed to be grounded down, this new doc was so nice he didn't even charge me and drilled my new crowns and my pain was GONE! So don't trust this guy... Cause he will try to rip u off if he thinks you're dumb. And he thought I was really dumb which I was to take so long for a second opinion but NEVER again. Good luck cause honest dentists are hard to come by these days. Oh and he might tell u that all of your teeth mostly will need to be crowned. Weird... My new dentist actually said I have good teeth and they don't need to be crowned. read more

My teeth have never been as clean as they were after Joanie cleaned them. I'm the most difficult patient on the planet and they made me comfortable and exceeded any expectation I had. As a mother of 4, I was extremely pleased to see each of my children had the same experience. When it comes to doctors and dentists I've always found word of mouth is the best way to find the professional right for you. All of my experiences at the office with Dr. Smith and his staff have been profoundly positive. I don't recommend people visit with Dr. Smith unless I think they will be as respectful as the office staff have been to me. I will never see another dentist as long as I live. Not happy with the quality of dental work performed. He ruined my mouth had crowns done & he performed below standard care dental work. Still having lots of problems with his work and treatment performed now and had to see another specialist to correct his poor work. Will be considering action against for the pain and suffering due to the below standard & sub par care I received. I would not recommend him for any advanced treatment dental care or otherwise because of my problems that are now worse since seeing him. I love Dr. Smith: he is warm, straight-foward and very professional. I have dealt with many a shady dentist, and he runs the best dental practice in the DMV! I hardly ever have to wait - my appointment time is almost always the time I get to go in. He is very upfront about what needs to be done, and they do a good job of giving you options so you feel in control.
