Poor list of excuses from "lack of guides, museum being on strike to traffic issues". All lies just for them to sell your tickets to another customer who is paying more. Had a great time doing the Auschwitz tour yesterday that we decided to book a city sightseeing tour with them for today. Guide and driver both spoke excellent english and they were very helpful. Once we got to Auschwitz we had two different guides and broke into two smaller groups. This was helpful as everyone could hear what was being said. read more

I used these guys for my trip to Ausschwitz but was annoyed at them before I even stepped foot on their bus. I mailed them well in advance of my trip to ask if I could just turn up at the hotel on the day of my trip. They said that I could but no further advice was offered. So I turned up on the morning and one oftheir buses soon arrived. As there were various different trips starting from the hotel I didn't want to just get on the bus, so I tried to talk to the bus driver but he didn't speak English (which is fair enough I don't expect everyone to speak my language). And as I stood there confused, the bus soon pulled away without me on it. Turns out you should really have a ticket in advance and you should know there is only one busthey take you to a different hotel where all the separate tours go out. These are the kind of tips I could have done with in response to my e-mailI didn't message them in advance for nothing this was precisely the kind of problem I was looking to avoid. So we were off on the wrong foot and after having an excellent tour with an alternate agency the day before I was almost wishing I hadn't bought my ticket with these guys for the next day shortly after missing aforementioned bus. In the end the tour was alrightnothing more. The hotel pickup these guys do is very convenient, but if you are at one of the earlier hotels on their route it can take almost an hour just to get out of Krakow (although at least the bus is big and comfy). The video they show on the way to Ausschwitz is interesting and helps introduce you to the place and also pass the time on the journey (on the way back you will probably be lost in your thoughts). The comparison is probably unfair as it is a very different trip to my other Krakow excursion but they didn't seem as hands on with this trip. You are basically left with a local guide, not employed by the agency. That may just be the way it works when you visit Ausschwitz, but after my exasperation with the company the day before I would have liked to have met someone nice and helpful who would redeem them in my eyes somewhat. I became acquainted with Cracow Tours, not to be confused with Cracow City Tours (who are truly amazing) through Viator.com. We wanted to see Auschwitz and Birkenau during our visit to Krakow, and this seemed to present a good opportunity. Some pluses were that they did pick us up directly at our hotel. The actual guide, who accompanied us to both locations gave a great tour, keeping a balanced level of seriousness, sadness, and hope, and was extremely knowledgeable. However, I'm not exactly sure if the guide actually worked for Cracow Tours or the actual locations themselves. Really, I felt like this company was more of a shuttle to get to the places, rather than an actual tour company. We given a Russian documentary to digest in transit, which was somewhat helpful, but found our bus "guide" to be more of a wrangler than an actual tour guide herself, and even seemed to struggle in wrangling some of the fellow tourists, which caused some delays - particularly at Birkenau. In addition, while the amount of time at Auschwitz felt just right, the Birkenau portion of the tour felt particularly rushed. I left feeling a bit cheated with my time there. Finally, I did feel like the actual group number for the tour was a bit large. Even after dividing us into two groups, it would have been nicer to have had the groups a bit smaller - three groups might have been best. I can't imagine how large they would be in the high season! In short, the tour didn't disappoint, but did leave more to be desired. Unfortunately I didn't discover Cracow City Tours until later in my trip, but probably would likely have taken the tour with them instead if I knew then what I know now. read more
