There are not many restaurants where I want to order everything on the menu. This is one of them…read more First of all, they are Michelin rated. A Michelin Star is awarded to restaurants offering outstanding cooking. They take into account five universal criteria: the quality of the ingredients, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of techniques, the personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine and, just as importantly, consistency both across the entire menu and over time. At the edge of Guernsey as you come off the ship Pier 17sets. The menu is mostly locally sourced seafood, vegetables, meats and dairy. The seafood is outstanding Started with a creamy lobster bisque. This was built up and served in a large bowl. Don't expect huge chunks of lobster meat. The bisque stands on its own and has all the flavor you could want without filling you up. A perfect starter. The bread was soft and warm and served with a nice aioli and fresh creamery butter. I still can't say which I preferred but both were divine For my main I decided on a full lobster Thermidor. Cooked to perfection in a creamy mustard and cheese sauce with cream and hints of white wine. I have had lobster from all over the world: Maine, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, Ireland, England, Hong Kong, Florida, etc. this local lobster and the chef's preparation may be the very best I've ever had. It was served with arugula and a lovely little salad My wife had the Seamus Scallops which were great in their own right and a side of hand cut chips. Both were perfect We finished with local ice cream and berries They had a good selection of wines. I wasn't too sure on the whiskey and bourbon flavors and we were here half an hour before they actually opened but I had just been hit by a car so they let us in to have drinks. I polished off a few cans of Guinness An amazing meal to top off an interesting day. If you find yourself in Guernsey and want an amazing meal; Pier 17 and their warm and friendly staff receives my highest recommendation!

Excerpt from the email I just sent them:…read more "Hello, I have an onion intolerance and last night I went out to eat at your restaurant. I wanted to deeply thank you for making me food I could eat. I very don't eat out as much as I would like as I too often end up sick as so many foods have onion powder in them, or something of the sort, and that the Chefs sometimes forgets to take out. Not this time - in fact, I think you're one of the first restaurant in Guernsey to ever make me food with enough care that caused me not to have an allergic reaction what-so-ever.. I had the Pasta, the surf & turf, and the cheese cake. Thank you, thank, you, thank you!!!! You can't know how much I appreciate having a lovely meal out without getting sick. Please give my highest thanks to everyone that worked last night."

We went during tennerfest (fixed-pIced meals across the island). I ordered the salmon bruschetta…read more(good), the Beal (breaded veal escalope and spaghetti) which was bland and unappetising, and the Tiramisu which was dusted with a litre of cocoa so you couldn't actually taste what you'd ordered. Clare had the calamari (reformed/frozen), lamb (amazing!!) and ginger cheesecake (ultra sweet). All you could taste was ginger and I bit of sugar. We ordered a cider, we got a soda (see what they did there?). All in all service was a little slow but the restaurant is cavenous and they have a lot of mouths to feed and a lot of people to keep happy, so I guess it's what they do here. I dare say if you hit this place when it's quiet, and order the right thing, it's an outstanding meal. Unfortunately we weren't massively impressed and probably won't return.

Quick glance: + great French food…read more+ bread with butter and homemade pate + friendly and energetic French staff + locally sourced ingredients + lunch set menu available + reservation recommended Full review: I visited Le Petit Bistro with family for lunch in December, after the merriment of Christmas. Even on the Saturday after most people have most likely over-indulged over Christmas and Boxing Day, the venue was full - a testament to how great their food is. Le Petit Bistro serves classic French dishes, including escargot, tartare de boeuf, and moules marinière, To start with, you get bread served with not only Guernsey butter but also homemade pate. Be warned, resist the temptation to fill yourself up with the bread ahead of your starter and main! For my starter, I had the seared scallops served with butternut cream, bacon crust and chestnut cappucino, beautifully served in a bowl and cooked just right. My main of steamed mussels came in a generous portion and pleased my taste buds. By the time we ordered dessert, the three of us split an order of five "mignardises," or assorted small desserts, to round out the delectable meal. Le Petit Bistro is staffed by friendly French waiters and waitresses scurrying around to take and fulfil orders. The decor is charming and while its menu is printed on a large cardboard, the wine list is delivered on an iPad - why not, eh? The menu explains that Le Petit Bistro tries and source as many ingredients locally as possible. The restaurant also offers a quick lunch menu if you are working nearby or just need a quick meal, perhaps on a short visit to the island from a cruise ship, with the promise to deliver your food within 30 minutes.

The food when it finally arrived was good but the service was painfully slow. The soufflé was well…read morereceived as was the moules but the fish soup was short on flavor.
