Small, cozy coffeehouse that also serves some food items including clam chowder. Service was quick and friendly. There was a small outdoor patio with a fire pit by the waterfront and indoor seating as well. Ample parking on the street that quickly gets filled up since it's a touristy area. We had a caramel macchiato with added 2 shots (tasted slightly burnt and too sweet), an iced vanilla latte with oat milk (excellent), and an americano (okay, not great). Not a bad place for coffee if you're in the area, but I wouldn't make a trip here. 3.5 overall

    Marshmallow latte. Yum!

Not only are the name and logo adorable, but the coffee was delicious as well! The barista was super friendly and chatty. I only wish the specials had been more clearly marked because I would've loved to try one but saw the sheet after I ordered. Indoor seating, or get your drink to go and enjoy it with a pastry from Little Red Hen a block or two away!

Great coffee and tea selection. Friendly barista. Wish they had some food options for those of us avoiding sugar and carbs.

Love the ambiance here. The americano and burrito was very good. Easy parking and room to relax.read more

I wanted to like this place. I went in expecting to, based on a recommendation, but unfortunately I…read moreleft feeling uncomfortable enough that I don't plan to return. My bestie and I had an early meeting in Coupeville, so we stopped at Cedar & Salt for coffee and breakfast to go. Since we'd never been there before, we stepped aside when we came in so we weren't in anyone's way and could take a moment to look over the breakfast menu. There was no one else waiting, but we still stood back out of consideration in case someone came in while we were still choosing. The woman at the counter seemed dismissive from the beginning. She wouldn't make eye contact and asked what we wanted in a fairly gruff manner. I smiled and told her we just needed a moment. She initially said, "Fine," but shortly afterward, while we were trying to decide quickly, she loudly called out, "Ready when you are," in a tone that felt unnecessarily hostile. We immediately rushed through our order. We thanked her and stepped away again while our order was prepared. While looking at the products displayed along the wall and taking in the space, another customer came in. The difference in interaction was striking. The same woman greeted that customer with warm smiles, eye contact, and a noticeably friendlier demeanor. Once that customer left, the warmth immediately disappeared, and that cold demeanor from before returned toward us. I can't speak to why we were treated differently, and I don't want to speculate about someone's motives. I can only say that the interaction made both of us uncomfortable enough that, when our order was finally placed on the counter, we decided to leave rather than stay. Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't improve the experience. My friend's Americano was started first but was somehow the last item served, roughly 10 minutes later, despite there being no other customers. There were also two people filling our order of two drinks and two breakfast burritos: the barista at the counter and someone working in the back. When we lifted the lid, we discovered it was simply black coffee. The almond milk and honey he'd requested were missing. My mocha was also unpleasant, thick and burnt. Neither of us finished our drinks or food. The breakfast burritos were made in a back room, out of sight from the counter, which we found a little unusual. When we opened them, they were extremely small for $10 each--smaller than a Taco Bell burrito--and were very dry and essentially flavorless. We ended up going to Whidbey Coffee, once we got home, and they took good care of us. Overall, Cedar & Salt was the worst customer-service experience I've had at a local coffee/breakfast establishment, and unfortunately the food and drinks didn't justify the prices either. I would have been much more forgiving of an expensive or disappointing item if we'd otherwise felt welcomed there, but the combination of the service, the incorrect drink, the long wait, and the quality and size of the food made the experience difficult to overlook. I also noticed some concerning responses from the owner/management to other reviews, which made me hesitant to leave this one. However, reviews are meant to reflect individual experiences, and this was ours. I'm sharing it so others can make an informed decision about where they spend their money.
