Stumbled on this place while we were looking for a lunch place. The place is the perfect setting for a Florida dockside restaurant. The service was friendly and accommodating and the food was pretty good and plentiful for the price. We all needed boxes to bring home what we couldn't finish. The place stayed packed even though we were there at 3pm. If you're looking for a fun little dockside restaurant with good food at good price this is the place to go.

Crab Shack on the Cottee has a really cool ambiance, especially if you sit outside--sunset views over the river made for a beautiful dinner setting. I ordered the crab legs, which were delicious and fairly priced, though I was warned they can sometimes be hit-or-miss depending on the meat inside. They're served with butter, a bucket, plenty of paper towels, and a cracker tool--but no small fork, which made it tricky to get all the meat out. On the side, I had squash/zucchini and garlic mashed potatoes; both were a bit too heavily seasoned for my taste, overpowering the vegetables themselves. The service, however, was excellent--our server was attentive and on point. Outside, you'll notice plenty of cats roaming, which adds to the quirky charm. Prices across the menu felt fair, though the restroom could use some upkeep--it wasn't dirty, just not in the best condition (though I suppose that fits the "crab shack" vibe). Overall, I'd definitely eat here again and recommend giving it a try, especially for the atmosphere and riverfront experience.

Me holding my service dog paperwork and the hostesses that tanked things. Specially the one in red.

DISCRIMINATED AGAINST FOR HAVING A SERVICE DOG! UPDATE: I chatted with the owner online. He was upset about my review, not what his employees did, blamed it on me and failed to see why it was discrimination. Seriously!?!? I walked in spoke with their two people at the hostess stand and specifically told them I needed a "table for 2 with a service dog" and even held up my paperwork which I am NOT required to do BY LAW! My dog also had a "service dog" vest on, AGAIN NOT REQUIRED BY LAW, BY US! The young girl kept trying to escort us to a table that was far removed from everybody else outside were not a single other person was sitting. I asked why we weren't being seated inside with all the other people. She said it was because I have a dog. I explained to her that I have a service dog but I didn't seem to matter. Then, I pointed out to her that there was another dog in there that was not a service dog but let in because of the owner. I asked the girl, so you're gonna let in a non service dog and discriminate against me for having a service dog? The non service dog was actually barking at our dog. When we walked in, the other dog started barking. My dog never made a sound! After discussion with some others, I left, I can't comment on the food because we never got to eat. I fully intend on taking this up with the ADA, health department, and the governor's office. We love dogs and wish all dogs are welcome whether they're service dogs are not -but don't let in non service dogs and then discriminate against service dogs!!! Duh! This is why there's such a problem with dogs and bars. Unfortunately, it's things like this why its so hard to bring ALL dogs to bars! Now, state and county will crack down and just not allowed dogs at all because it gets abused by places like this that discriminate. (I HAVE PICS OF THE HOSTESSES AND THE OTHER DOG)

Down and Dirty: beautiful views, efficient service, decent food and fair pricing…read more I was on vacation with family and friends and was looking for a local spot on the water for dinner and found this place. Making reservations on open table as quick and efficient. When we arrived, our tables put together and ready for us and we were sat immediately. A decent menu with good variety and fair pricing. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. My husband had the stacked turkey club sandwich and he thought it was delicious. I had the tuna poke nachos and the tuna was very good but the wonton nacho chips were stale tasting. I don't know if they were just left out for too long or if they were over fried, but that would be my only complaint. We chose to dine outside and watch the beautiful sunset with the cool breeze, brushing our faces while we sipped on our cocktails and enjoyed lively discussion. If we were in the area again, I would likely come here at sunset

Unfortunately, our dining experience didn't quite live up to the recommendations. We ordered appetizers and entrees at the same time, but our food took about 45 minutes to arrive, and our appetizers didn't come out until the exact same time as our entrees. Since we had ordered simple appetizers like chips and queso and ceviche, it was a little disappointing that they weren't served first. When I asked about it, I was told the kitchen was backed up. Our server was pleasant, but she wasn't very attentive throughout the meal. There were a few times we had to get up and find her just to get drink refills or an update on our food. I completely understand that restaurants can have off days, and even the people I was dining with--who visit often and usually rave about this place--mentioned that this experience was out of the ordinary. As for the food, the ceviche wasn't my favorite, and my shrimp tacos were a bit over-fried. Overall, I left feeling disappointed, especially considering how highly the restaurant had been recommended. That said, the location and atmosphere are absolutely beautiful, and based on how much the locals seem to love it, I'm hoping this was just an off day rather than the norm.

Shelley had the smash burger, fries crispy and exactly as ordered. I went with the Fish Fryday special -- fried cod, fries, tartar. It was fried fish. I ordered fried fish. Hard to complain when the menu delivers on its promise. Kitchen threw in extra tartar sauce without us asking -- always a good sign. Happy hour pricing on my Corona, no dreaded credit card surcharge. Open air Marina view still the best seat around, watching the boats drift by. Only letdown: last visit we had dolphins putting on a show table-side. This time, nothing. I'll be speaking to management about their apparent failure to order dolphins for our table. Unacceptable. Location: Sunset Cove, below Seafire Grill on 19 South in New Port Richey.

(We'd seen it last week when she did the maiden paddle down the river on her new-to-her kayak.) I'm very glad she noticed it and suggested we try it out: it is wonderful! The vibe is laid back with a happy local riverside feel. The bar area is on the right with most of the dining tables to the left. Our server, Joseph, is aces! He suggested the fried mozzarella planks, which sounded great but, seeing as this was Lady Liberty's day we went for a classic, fried pickles with a template sauce. Joseph definitely knows the menu! For entrees she picked the fried shrimp basket and I went with the Almost Island Style Grilled Chicken sandwich. (The pineapple is what did it.) As much as I loved my sandwich, next time I'll likely try the grouper, which he had recommended.* We also tried sides of French fries and potato salad. All was quite tasty! Sat at the bar, because we like the vibe there better. Super impressed with the bartender. However, our disappointment isn't so much with the meal. It's with how their manager, Anthony, handled the situation. Instead of showing empathy, apologizing, or making us feel like valued customers, Anthony spoke to my wife in a condescending, disrespectful, argumentative and unprofessional manner. No customer should ever be talked down to or belittled. A manager sets the tone for the entire restaurant. Anthony's behavior turned our evening into an unacceptable dining experience. Because of him, and him alone, we will never come back. I hope management take this review seriously. Food can always be corrected, but the way customers are treated is what determines whether they'll ever return. Unfortunately, because of how Anthony handled this situation, we will not be back, and we will not recommend Estuary to others. I sincerely hope no future customer has to experience the same treatment.
