I just signed up for Yelp after reading two negative reviews that I found hard to believe. I have been having Mo work on my Apple computers for my family and business for over five years. I travel 30 minutes to go there. The first time was to replace a laptop battery on my Macbook Pro. Mo was $300 cheaper than the "genius's" (money genius's I guess) at Apple. He also fixed it ASAP. I have had times when I needed my computer fixed quick. Mo has more than once dropped work to get me out of the store quickly and ALWAYS reasonably priced. Rip off! Wanted to install a hard drive. Not repair or install software. Just install. Asked for $100.00 Best Buy asked for $40.00

Computer saavy individuals stay away. If you need something technical fixed, don't come here. If you have a virus or your computer is running slow, I'm sure these scammers can "fix" that. My laptop needed a new power port soldered onto the motherboard after I dropped the laptop off the bed onto the power port and wouldn't charge properly unless I wiggled it around. I'm at school and don't have my soldering iron or solder or the motivation to go out and buy them. I told Moe the situation and he says that the whole process would take $400. Wow that's a bit steep, but sure mom and dad will pay and it's going to be done in a day. Come back 24 hours later and the computer seems to be fixed. Hand Moe the money. After about 3 hours of use, the laptop flickers and the screen goes dark. Smoke starts coming out the power port. I immediately unplug the laptop and remove the battery. I borrow a floormate's screwdriver and open up the back. This is the soldering job I found. WTF. I go back to Moe and he refuses to fix the job. He says the laptop was like that when it came into the shop and to not come back. He refuses to fix the issue as now it needs a new motherboard which costs 1k. These guys will charge very high. I went there to check if they can replace my laptop hinge. The part cost less than $10 and can be fixed in 15 min. But he said it will cost minimum $150 and may cost more. I can do that my own but need some tools to open back of the keyboard which I don't have at that time. Please do some research online before going to repair stores. THey will take advantage of your innocence and may charge you more. I've gone to CR Computer four times in the past couple of years with my HP tower PC and now my HP laptop. I had simple issues twice with the tower and once it took the guys digging into its guts to determine the problem, that time a blown mother board. I've had programming issues and stuff I messed-up and Moe and his associate have fixed it within a week each time, each time good as new! My last visit was with a 2nd-hand laptop I needed checked-out and a WiFi card for and Moe had it done in a couple of days, in spite of piles of jobs all around him in the "antique" building they're in. It should be noted that CR Computer has relocated to 2223 Woodbridge Ave. That being said, it's not really much to look at (or easy to find, for that matter - it shares a building with a corner barber shop), however, the quality of service was nothing short of great. When my internal hard drive in my 2007 20" iMac fried, I thought it might be a great time to replace it with an SSD, instead of springing for a whole new iMac (which I want SO badly, but it doesn't agree with my budget right now). I met Moe, who was patient and courteous, and quoted me 3-tier pricing for a 500gb SSD (the slow-speed tier, being the least expensive to meet my budget). He took the time to explain the difference between each, and what was best for my needs. I agreed, and left the unit for a week. I received a call from Moe during the week, explaining that he searched alternate suppliers for the drive and found the best quality, fastest SSD drive on the market for the same price as the cheapest one! I thought that was such a great gesture. I told him to proceed with the work, of course. When I picked up my computer, he demonstrated that the drive was installed, and working as expected. He also returned my old drive, and even passed on to me an additional $10.00 discount, as the drive came in even cheaper! My computer SCREAMS like a new one, and I recommend Moe's service, wholeheartedly! I'll be going back there for all my computer problems that I won't attempt myself. The place is the opposite of the 'big geeks' store..... it is small, a mess, hard to park, and less expensive, and with kind and intelligent service. I now have a 'go to' guy for all my electronics. My laptop lost its hard drive..... moe had it back to me in one day. Also, all data was there and I upgraded my software at the same time. I usually don't write reviews but I am so furious at the service I received at CR computer. They are located on the bottom floor of an office building. Ring the bell and they will let you in. I brought in a hp envy 360 laptop with a loose charger port. Moe took my laptop on Monday and said 3 days. 3 days went by and nothing. I had to call moe on Friday to ask what had happened. He said that the part was delayed. Ok sure. I want my laptop back. He says it's still disassembled. I say I don't care I need it. I show up to the basement. Guess what my laptop was sitting in a pile. Moe says it's not ready yet. I say it looks fine and take the laptop back. Guess what when I turn the laptop on, it works fine except the keyboard backlights are broken. I call Ali at linx8 in highland park and he says he can take a look. About an hour after I drop the laptop off, he calls me back and says I have to look at this. The power line connecting the keyboard backlights was melted and black. In addition the newly soldered power jack was "poorly soldered and blackened from improper solder gun usage." So he clearly did receive the part. He just broke the laptop and was trying to cover up. Whatever you do don't bring your valuables to these crooks unless you want your laptop permanently damaged. Moe is dishonest and I will never do business with these crooks again. read more

I'm writing this review from my newly repaired laptop. CR Computer Repair did a great job fixing my laptop, I needed a new fan and operating system. Fixing both of my problems and removing corrupted/bad files from my computer as well as backing everything up, they got my laptop to work like it did when I first got it. Amazing job, and the guys working there were very friendly and helpful. Not to mention everything that got repaired is now under a 1 year warranty. well, they are local and really seem to know what they are doing . They will fix your cpu as said. But does seem a little pricey but id rather give my money to a local business then best buy or whatever . They are open late an on Sundays. My 10+ year old laptop's Window XP system was so outdated that website suggested that I should buy a new computer. Moe at CR Computer did an excellent job gave my laptop a new life. He installed Window 7 with one year free anti-virus software, restored all my files and pictures, put in more memory for a faster speed. My external hard drive was damaged and I needed desperately to get information off the drive within a short period of time. I first went to the geek squad at Best Buy I was told that it would take weeks to get my data recovered. Based on yelp I found this vendor; called at 6:15 pm and asked if I could come in. The Store closed at 6:30, but the owner stayed until I arrived and took my hard drive. By 1:00 the next day my hard drive was completely restored. I highly recommend!! read more

I would never trust this man with eletronic equipment. Brought my laptop here to have the power jack replaced since the pin from my charger got stuck in the jack. He returned it to me with a charger he spliced together and had a lot of issues keeping a charge after the fact. I tried purchasing a new charger for the laptop since it wouldn't keep a charge and the power jack felt like it was over heating.I was told I purchased the "wrong" laptop charger twice by this guy. After the 2nd "incorrct" charger I purchased I questioned weather if he could have messed up re soddering the power jack. Once I brought this up he got extremely defensive and told me never to call him again. Even tho he has a warrenty on his work.(lol) ok... So I cut my losses and brought it to this store in hillsbrough I found out instead of putting melted sodder thru the pins to clear out the old sodder and disconnect the old powe jack this dummy took his sodder gun directly to my motherboard and melting my silica, costing my around $400 for a new motherboard.
