But I really do go there as much for the ambience and cosy feeling of a family business which supplies just about any timber product you could ever need and always at a very reasonable price. It's easy to get lost among the huge uncut logs and piles and piles of timber which leave you wondering to what use they might be put. Following the fence, I have had a raised shed base with a retainer for a soil bank done and am delighted by that result too. Darren is a very friendly chap and he has a "can do" attitude, who talks through your various options and he backs this up by doing the job with hard graft, speed and to a very high standard. Indeed, he and his brother Dean are both hard workers. They arrived when they said they would and worked as late as was necessary to complete the work. Unfortunately, the installation did not meet our expectations. The installer used a cutter directly on the flooring without proper measurements, leaving visible surface scratches -- especially noticeable in sunlight. Within three months, bubbles began forming on the ground floor. On the first floor, the installation creaks in several areas. We believe this is due to poor nailing of the plywood underfloor they installed during prep. Though IH Flooring attempted a repair, new bubbles reappeared shortly after, the creakins has worsened and screw-heads bumps become visibile on the floor. Regrettably, despite the Amtico quality itself, we're very disappointed with the installation. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend IH Flooring at all.

From putting up shelves in my sister's house to installing a new boiler I have always found both the tools and the information down here. Think B and Q but less gimmicky and more hands-on. Grrr.

Huge amounts of stock cover the vast storage and display area, and if its Victoriana, tiles or wood that you want, you won't be disappointed. The staff look like a bunch of kids doing a stretch of community service, but are really helpful, good humoured and hard working. They'll go out of their way to try and find you what you want, and will pass you onto the Gaffa or Gaffa's mate if they come unstuck in their search. I recently bought a manhole cover for £20 to stand my wood burner on, after discussing the usage at length with the boss. I was offered assurance that it would do the job without presenting a fire risk, and was offered additional advice about how to fix it and where I could go if I needed help with welding. These guys are first rate!

Me & my partner went to buy floorboard, which was great to see that they recycle by making their own floorboard from the old Victorian wood. They can accommodate your every need and would definitely recommend. PS every sale they make under £5 is donated to the Bristol Children's Hospital.
