Steve's Masonry was the first company to agree to show up and quote the work. Admittedly I still have sticker shock as I have no idea how much this type of work costs. But they took care of everything and even came back out to finish a few spots missed in the initial visit. The whole process was quick too, Milan quoted the repair on a weekend and one of his guys was there within the week. Milan was a very nice guy and his workers got the job done. Overall we had a good experience with Steve's Masonry. I would recommend them for anyone needing this type of work on their home.

Steve quoted $1,000. His crew showed up and barely ground out the old mortar (going only a 1/2 inch deep before coating the seams with new mortar). I climbed on the roof and noted the shotty work. I called and texted Steve to discuss. He himself said mortar should be no less than 3/4" to 1". FYI, web says 2 to 3 times the width of a joint. Then Steve scolded his staff for telling me that they only did 1/2" (see photo of receipt). Steve was more upset that I knew the truth about the work they completed then he was about rectifying the job. He wanted me to call Champion (another local biz to confirm his story - i certainly wouldn't trust them either). He refused to adjust the bill and threatened to pull his team without them finishing. Don't trust this company! His team was also very condescending. I am very knowledgeable about construction. They lied to my face and were quite smug while doing so.

He said that is the cause of the snow melt getting into the basement and recommended landscaping vice foundation work. This would be a huge saving for me as the foundation work would be tens of thousands of dollars. I greatly appreciate Tony's professionalism and honesty and highly recommend him and his company T K Mason for similar stoneworks at your residence.

It was only a matter of time before it would crumble completely. Time to get it repaired. Unfortunately it was too far gone for a repair so a complete tear-down and rebuild was necessary. I received a few bids but I leaned towards Tony because of his positive reviews on several review sites. That and the fact that his bid was very competitive. Also, TK Mason did not ask for a percentage of the payment to accompany the signed contract. Some companies require a payment up front before the work begins and the remainder of the payment due at the end of the job. This was the deciding factor for me. There were a few delays, thanks to our rainy Spring weather but once a clear day was forecast, Tony's guys showed up and started work. They worked on my chimney all day, ripping out the old one and building a complete new structure. Their attention to detail was impressive and their brickwork expertise definitely showed on the finished product. They cleaned up nicely and left me with a chimney that will most likely outlast the rest of the house. I've posted a photo of the chimney taken while our roof was being replaced.

With new homes come new projects and we knew we wanted to invest in an outdoor patio in our backyard for our twins (less than a year old, but preparing for the future when they're ready to play). We contacted a total of three concrete companies to start using two recommendations and a general Google search. The first recommendation we sent over all of the information and details of what we were looking for including pictures of the space, a site survey by the company was scheduled and at the last minute they called to cancel and when we asked them to reschedule, we were ghosted. The second place was unresponsive and the third place we tried to again schedule a site survey, just to never hear from them again. I GIVE THIS CONTEXT, because I was already exhausted and frustrated seemingly just how POORLY UNRESPONSIVE so many businesses were for this sizeable project. Insert Yelp and it's amazing "Project" new solution/feature - I was able to input everything I was looking for and got several responses. I reached out to ANS and Antonio and Nick were WARM, FRIENDLY, RESPONSIVE and setup a site survey and SHOWED UP ON TIME AND WITH PURPOSE. They are a smaller company and a little new to the area, and we were happy to partner with them after we went and checked a few of their most recent jobs. Antonio and Nick answered all of our questions, spent time reviewing the space with us and walking us through our thoughts on the shape and size and answered our questions to better help educate us on a concrete project (since we had never done one before.) They were very transparent that they would keep us updated, with with projects and also their work being very weather-dependent, that there would have to be some flexibility in start times of the different phases of the project. Again, knowing ahead of time and feeling fully informed of this left me with no concern. BUILDING EXPECTATIONS is important and they did just that. We were communicated with during the different phases including the CAT work that had to be done to get the ground ready before the pour and the team that was out there for all phases were very respectful and make sure to keep clean/tidy. We also share a driveway with our neighbor and stressed out important it was to make sure no equipment/mess/people were on that neighbor's driveway and they did GREAT and were super thoughtful about it. I would recommend them for their communication and work ethic alone.
