This is my second stay here. First time five stars. This time 3.5 stars rounded up. What could make it better? Maybe better coordination of the kitchen services. Also their parking attendants can be annoying. My surgery got cancelled when I was literally about to be wheeled in because the power went out. So this delayed my stay here unfortunately. Never found out what the cause was. First time I was here was in the ICU and General Hospital area one year ago. Second time is the general area and I'm still here as I'm typing this! Day 6 and counting... Yeah it's old school, but the windows open to fresh air. I always have a lovely view, this time with a glimpse of the bay. The WiFi is fast, I dig the old school private bathrooms however it would be nice to have handheld shower heads. Also the automatic sink in my room didn't work. It gets boring being stuck in a hospital so I ordered some sheet masks and Amazon delivered. Had no issues getting those to my room. Also DoorDash is no issue. The nurses are efficient and friendly and put up with my demands lol. From the nurse attendants to janitorial staff to night shift nurses, everyone has been professional. Shout out to nurses Tiffany and Fabio who made my stay more tolerable. I hope to get out of here in a couple of days. If I have the misfortune of being here again, I won't be dreading it. read more

The good: professional, efficient and friendly phlebotomist. The bad: 1. They have you take a ticket even if you have an appointment, which led to confusion and everyone in the waiting room coaching each other about what to do. 2. I had an appointment for a blood draw that took less than 10 minutes. The minimum fee for the parking garage is $8.00 for the first hour, with no grace period for short appointments. The payment machine is confusing as well so it has about 20 notes stuck on it. The attendant had to keep exiting the booth to help people. read more

I have a medical emergency last month after slipping and hitting my head on my front porch. SFFD were great I stopping the bleeding, place on a neck brace and got me to CPMC Davies Campus Emergency Room. The nurses and my ER doctor was very professional and engaged bed side manners. Hopefully you never have to be in an emergency room. However, the medical. CT and nursing staff are exceptional. read more

I live across the street from the back of this hospital on Noe Street and have had enough of their 3AM dumpster nightly pickups which sound like loud TNT explosions in the middle of the night. I will be filing complaints with the hospital, Recology, and the city for these unnecessary disturbances from Recology's trucks. It's absolutely not necessary to slam a dumpster lid open repeatedly and collect garbage in the middle of the night, when after 6AM is just as viable a time and it would disturb a lot fewer people. My family, as well as the rest of the block, are tired of being shocked awake by the repeated slamming of these dumpsters, the slamming of the truck lift, and the various other receptacles the driver feels fine (because he's awake, why not?) with throwing off of his truck and onto the ground. Expect complaints, CPMC. This needs to stop. read more

Medical staff are good,what is not good is the female security guard with long hair, who is rude as all hell,why is this person dealing with the public??? I left messages with head adminsitrator and head of security,no response. I was not the only person who had bad interaction with this hostile person.First time here,not impressed with no accountability over bad behavior,not acceptable. read more

The doctors may be good, but the healthcare administrators are terrible. They lack patience, empathy, and are unhelpful to deal with. Unfortunately, they are always the gatekeepers between you and the doctor so they ruin the experience. I would avoid CPMC Davies if you could for this reason. read more

They neglected my mom. My mom left the ICU, she was given her hospital room while recovering from a stroke. my mom called me when a nurse would not attend to her need of water/apple juice from having very dry mouth and being thirsty. she had to wait 22-31mins (several times). She was yelling "help, I need help nurse. I need water" - me and my sister were on the phone with her as this was happening. We had to call the hospital ourselves just to get help for my mom. While in bed, just out of the ICU, I get a call from a night shift nurse and that they found my mom on the floor on her knees. they did not do any scans/X-ray to be sure her fall did not cause any broken bones, etc. and in the medical records, it does not note these details. I called the following morning and the nurses said they did not see a note from the night shift nurses. no way my mom was able to get out of bed after a massive stroke and the doctors noted she has full left side weakness/hemiplegia. 6 months after she had been discharged, doctors and physical therapists would prescribe hydrocodone for my moms left shoulder & arm pain. Advising that because of the stroke, that pain is due to neurological pain. I find my mom a pain mgmt doctor, and to our surprise, the pain mgmt doctor runs out to the lobby with an X-ray picture to show me that my moms left shoulder was dislocated a mile away from the socket. I am dumbfounded. How can Sutter have an occupational therapist for months come work on her arm and the entire time it had been dislocated. every neurologist kept advising its neuropathic pain. This whole thing infuriates me. My mom did not have to pop hydrocodone when she didn't need to. She needed her left shoulder fixed. With discovering this late, my poor elderly mom had to go under the knife to put her shoulder back in place since the Therapy sessions damaged her left shoulder. I wish CPMC would've done a fully body scan when they found her on the floor. read more

I've been going here since my insurance changed, I don't have many other options in the city. Every time I go in, I end up getting billed for "services" I didn't receive. I then a ridiculous amount of time trying to get charges reversed. If you go here, make sure you ask how much everything they're doing, or even asking you, will cost. They're not transparent with their services at best, and possibly fraudulent in what they submit to your insurance company for payment. read more

Went to the ER with what I thought was a simple urinary track infection. I was wrong .. it turned into a two week hospital stay. The bad: The hospital is old and doesn't always have equipment you'd expect. The inpt stay was also different than previous hospitals because it felt like every two days the attending hospitalist changed. The good:: the staff!!! -The staff truely care for their patients. I had a good experience with 80% of the nurses. One nurse in particular was a rock star: Sheila C from the ER. She had phenomenal ownership. She didn't leave my side until I was admitted. Personally accompanied me to get a scan and into a room when it was appropriate. I can truely say, she was the best nurse I've ever had the privilege of being their patient. . - the hospitalist model is very disjointed and not the best way to get care. With that said, all the Dr's that worked on my case were exceptional and caring. They definitely tried to get my personal Dr's to be part of the planning. Overall I appreciated everyone's assistance. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. I looked like the walking dead when I walked in. I have bizarre mold/fungal infections that are affecting my organs and movement. I've been desperate to find a doctor that would look beyond all my misdiagnoses of delusional parasitosis and actually examine me, and asked questions. She provided one fungall diagnosis before I could explain it, gave me 3 prescriptions and 2 referrals. I've been waiting 3 years for someone to believe me and treat me. Shockingly lousy staff quality but good wait times. Was told incorrect medical information multiple times by a nurse (Andrew Nan) - first, stated the only difference between a BMP and CMP was whether specific electrolytes were included in the panel, and that the two panels were "synonymous". When questioned further, he incorrectly stated I was getting a BMP and incorrectly claimed that BMPs include liver function tests. In reality a CMP was eventually ordered. Not a huge impact on care in this situation, but what is especially worrisome is that instead of recognizing his severe limitations in knowledge, he chose to make up incorrect medical advice on the spot to save face. He did not apologize (or perhaps was unaware of) the multiple instances that he spread misinformation. The saddest and most disappointing part of this is that he claimed to have worked in the ED for ten years already. Another nurse ("Chad") incorrectly stated that I would not be getting a point of care glucose as it "wasn't indicated", and that I would not be receiving IV fluids, later backtracking and claiming he had not said that when IV fluids were eventually ordered. He also attempted to provide medical advice multiple times (disappointing me greatly each time). Beware and make sure you ask your doctor and not the nurses here for questions related to your care. The nurses working should not be trusted to provide medical advice in any capacity whatsoever, even for something as simple as which diagnostic tests have been ordered or whether to bolus someone with fluids. read more

The bad was being in the ER, but I had to write a review of the staff. Care was extraordinary from everyone. Never felt like a patient, was always treated as a person. Not a "great" experience, of course, but really heartening to receive such caring care. read more

First off - the OT care was great. This is about the fact that it is ridiculously hard to schedule appointments. I had an evaluation appt (booked 4 weeks out). At evaluation was told by the OT to start OT immediately 2 days per week. Whelp - scheduling said it was booked out and I would have to wait 4-5 weeks to even begin. Absolutely ridiculous - bones are healing this was a complicated surgery. They literally cannot provide the services in a timely manner based on what their staff prescribes. I escalated to patient relations which got a few more appts - but still not what was fully prescribed. Go elsewhere if you want an organization that truly cares about customer experience. I feel like this was a total bait and switch. read more

Best care ever! Super friendly staff from security to medical personnel. I came in early morning on 3/1/25 due to DV and everyone there were so sweet it made me forget why I was there, it felt like a 5 star hotel ! Additionally I was in and out within an hour, but stayed longer to do the police report in the comfort of their care and received a taxi ride home I'd say I would love to come back, but let's hope I don't fingers crossed read more

This is for the emergency care portion of this medical establishment. Expect to wait at least 4 or more hours to be admitted and then, good luck with getting any quality care whatsoever. Most of the workers look like they are just standing around chatting and joking around, while there are injured people in the waiting room who have been there for many many hours. I am surprised there haven't been more people who have fallen quite ill waiting around to be seen. read more

I know healthcare in the US is a joke, but this place makes it to a new level! None of the people who work here ever even said sorry for the mistakes and problems they caused for me. Within half a year as a new patient, I've got a wrong lab order from PCP, malpractice by phlebotomist, ignored documents, many, many mistakes from the pharmacy, some Rx I cannot pick up for 5 months, and I have to take an expired one from my savings......... I don't wanna deal with long waiting for switching PCP because I have school paperwork that needs to be filled, and now I just confirmed that nobody from that clinic is gonna fill or order anything I need for school. I should switch to a different hospital right after my first appointment. Oh, I forgot to say that the drama queen PCP always reacted like I am dying or if I do something I will die when my condition actually is not qualified for medical treatment. BTW. Even if they don't make any mistake, there is still no communication since you would have a different medical assistant responses to your message each time when you get a response. Sorry about grammar or spelling, I am still shaking and too angry about wasting time with those self identified angels. read more

I have never been treated fairly here. My pain killers are gatekept by nurses, lying there is no doctor to approve your own medication, they won't even give me my own life saving anti-virals that I need to live. I'm literally sitting here trying because I'm in so much pain and this was supposed to be a life changing moment in my liffe but it's now a living hell. I have a room with broken air system so I've been sweating, my bed is broken so I can't elevate my feet, the nurse never turned off her mic in the chin so I get to listen to eat and it cancels the TV sound, everyone has an attitude, I can't get any of my meds. What the hell did I do???? I didn't even bother then except to ask for a gabapentin or my anti-virals. This has to stop!! read more

So I was admitted to this hospital because I had a really bad infection in my hand. The housekeeping people are not the best. There was a paper towel that I dropped on the floor in the bathroom. That was there for three days. The cleaning crew came in every day and they never picked it up. They did the trash and wipe things down, but left that paper towel there right in eyes view. Now the nurse's assistant we're amazing. There was a young lady from the Philippines who made sure I had clean bed linen and a clean gown every day. Now the first few days this didn't happen. I literally sat in sheets that were soiled. I was suppose suppo to go to a nursing home for 2 to 6 weeks after my stay in the hospital. The greatest thing was, they had a young man by the name of John come in for some music therapy. He has many instruments and enjoys, bringing music to people. He played a soft melody on the guitar when I first met him. I started feeling better. He came a second time. I told him guess what I get to go home today. He played somewhere over the rainbow for me and it was beautiful. Music warms the heart, the soul and your health. Thank you so much for bringing music into the hospital. at first, I thought it was a good hospital until I was in the waiting room for a whole hour, and then I ended up in trauma for some I was out of it and then I ended up in a room and I was trapped in hospital for six days no test being done every second of the day hospital is not a good hospital and I literally believe in my mind and in my heart that hospital was trying to cause harm to me and I don't know why, but I feel like that hospital did some damage to and at the end of the day they told me that I had tumors. I had all kind of shit going on in my body that was in the truth. I'm not like that hospital I'm gonna get at hospital because the hospital no no I'm having severe mental issues right now because I was there and I have never in my life Ben to a hospital that was that way they wouldn't feed you. They wouldn't do anything tentative to you, they put the toilet now that's not a good hospital and so I don't care whoever whoever gets this you can email me talk to me. Call me or whatever. I am following a malpractice you guys you guys put me full of morphine and full of oxycodone and I don't even do fucking drugs like that how in the hell can you pump of drugs and I was so incapacitated I didn't even know my right state of I could walk and I'm still having problems walking no it's not a good hospital read more

I went to the emergency room I had cut my foot on a piece of glass and it would not stop bleeding. I was seen quickly and the care I received was so so good. the doctor that stitched my foot was kind efficient and skilled and the nurses were great my foot is good as new. they gave me supplies to rebandage and I was in and out in two hours . I can't recomend highly enough. read more

I have completed my 11 sessions of physical therapy, which involved paraffin wax heat massage, Graston tool massage and ultra sound massage to break down the nodules and scar tissues in the joints of my trigger fingers. My ability to close my fist has improved from a gap of 4cm to less than 1cm. Much thanks to my PT, Arnold Varilla, for the great job during these weekly sessions to rehabilitate my hand. Appreciate Arnold's persistence and work to resolve my hand issues. Now that my sessions have completed, he recommended that if I continue with my passive and not-passive hand exercises, my hand should be back to normal soon. Thanks Arnold for a great job in rehabilitating my hand. read more

COMC- Davies. Of course the hospital food is not the reason one is eating in a hospital. Keeping in mind that I have heard great things about the back surgeons. They are also one of the few places providing full service in and outpatient rehab. So, take the food review with a grain of salt ( or no salt). The cafeteria and hospital food is challenging. Some of the people who take patient orders are great. Others not so much. Hopefully they can check out some other hospital offerings in order to improve the food service. read more

I worked security at this facility and have never had a worst work experience in my whole life. From the day that I started it was all going wrong. I couldn't get my password to work and had to call the IT people several times. After that the person training me was walking from one area to another with no clear definition of where we were or what the area was. That was not the worst of it. I was not trained properly and asked to go from call to call without any real training and expected to know how to answer the calls. There was a psych unit on the third floor of the south tower. We had code grey calls all day and night from people who were batshit crazy. Also some of them were violent. So we were supposed to deal with these people while still manning the front door and doing standbys . Oh yeah , halfway through my third month they got rid of the allied security that was helping us. read more

Im a total disaster. If you want to find someone with bad luck for having odd problems , its me: Couple months ago i slammed my finger in a car door,l and lost my nail, last year i had a heel spur that lasted over 6 months, I've had an accident where a suitcase fell on me and i fell down the escalator and one of my teeth got jammed up inside of me, had to he removed and for two years i had retainer with one tooth in it until i got an implant, ive had 12 stitches below my lip and ive run out of the shower, slipped and essentially had broken knee ligaments causing me to go to PT for a year..! This weekend was yet another cause for worry. I started feeling pain behind my ear... i woke up and my half was half paralyzed: no exaggeration. I tried to calm myself and told myself maybe it would pass 24 hours later, blaming it on the lidocaine patch i put behind my ear to calm the pain. But it didnt pass. I woke up this morning completely alarmed. Called dr whom said to go to ER. Went to urgent care just in case but they sent me to ER. I expected to wait for hours but i barely wait ten minutes. I was crying and crying in fear to be paralyzed forever but the man at the check in was so nice and calm. I was shown to a nurse whom was equally nice and told me in her 26 years of ER work she had only seen this last forever on one person. At least she was realistic. I was then sent to a room where Dr Russel Braun took his time to reassure me as i kept crying. I was sent out to get a CT scan to rule out the possibility of a stroke. All good there. Another nurse then came to take me back to the room and he was so nice. I wish i got his name. He told me his gfriend had experienced this and though it took too long for her to recover, she did. He spoke with me like a friend would and reassured me. I want to send him something to thank him but i didnt get his name. He took time to really calm me down and explain it - in a time when i needed answers and i had no one with me there. On the way out the man at the entrance was nice again and came to me to charge me instead of me going to him. The entire staff was caring and i would go there again without hesitation. read more

I came in when I had a bad cough/cold, sprained my ankle, got faint and fell, hitting my head and, well, I had a bit going on. They saw me right away, put me in a bed so I could rest while they did the x-rays and tests, and were very kind. I was there close to 3 hours, but I don't imagine I could have had a more comfortable stay, considering I was in an emergency room. I'm back home now, and all there is for me to do is rest. BUT, at least I know I don't have a concussion, pneumonia, or any fractures. read more

Why 2 stars? Because it was all good until I received the bill. --- --- --- I injured myself playing basketball a few weeks prior, but just kind of caused some soreness to my rib area. Every time after the initial incident that I played, the area would be more and more painful for the following 24 hours, but still manageable. While in SF for work, I played one morning out there and unfortunately woke up the next morning to the pain reaching a new level. I was doing some reading online and thought maybe I had a small stress fracture of my rib. I headed to an Urgent Care just to possibly get some pain medicine. The doctor at Urgent Care felt around the area and very quickly determined that the pain I was complaining about was coming from my liver, not my ribs. He recommended that I immediately head to the hospital. This hospital was only three blocks away, so I gritted my teeth and walked there. I think I waited in the ER for about an hour, but that's to be expected. Once seen by the nurses and the doctors, I had no complaints. Everyone was professional, friendly and helpful. They took blood work, gave me some pain medicine and gave me X-rays and a CT scan to take a look at my liver. It turned out that there was some bruising in the area but no bleeding, so there was nothing really to do at that point but make sure that I rest. I did just that and felt much better even the next day. I write this about a month after my visit and am virtually back to being completely normal. So why 2 stars? Last week I received a bill from this visit. That bill stated that my insurance was charged $11,912.36 and that my responsibility was $926.50. Now, obviously what I did when I received that bill was open cars.com. Why cars.com? Well because I needed to see what kind of used car I could get for $12,000. It turns out, there's a fully loaded 2013 Honda Civic near me that I could purchase for $86 less than the treatment I received in the hospital during my two hour stay. I don't know what the answer to our country's healthcare crisis is, but I do know this: a hospital billing your insurance a Honda Civic worth of money for morphine and some scans is complete and utter insanity. Health care, you've jumped the shark. It's not okay to do this. Receiving a bill of nearly $1,000 out of pocket for this was shocking and unexpected. I can only imagine the burden this puts on families who are in worse financial situations than myself and it's really sad. read more

Worst food I can remember at any hospital I've been in. Next time UCSF yes, Sutter, NO! After hours in ER I got admitted and then told, you missed dinner! This "ham" sandwich had three thinly slices. The Apple was past its prime. The nurses are great but if you want good food as you heal, run from this place. Adding: I had to file formal complaint about a hospital doctor who made errors and assumptions that harmed my health, the chair next to me had BLOOD SPLATTER on it. I could go on with the lack of quality of this place, but again will suggest you STAY THE HECK OUT OF THIS PLACE. read more

I came here for blood work. My doctor is investigating if I'm having an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage. I was previously going to the Webster location and it was not great. Coming to Davies location made a world of difference. These were my 5th and 6th blood test and Juan was amazing. If you are getting a blood test done I highly recommend this hospital/ lab. First time at the ICU,ER for anything, and the experience went by so quickly and smoothly I was surprised. I came in for serotonin syndrome and was seen and treated immediately. The nurses were the absolute highlight of my stay there. Duke, Petra, Kelly, Liz, Patty and Helise were all amazing. I was assisted very quickly every time I pressed the call button. Petra talked to me about nurse experience since I've been considering the medical field, and Kelly let me talk her ear off about video games. The cleaning staff was excellent too and even helped me move one time even though they are not part of the nursing staff. They also provided 3 meals a day which were quite good (I just didn't have much of an appetite due to my syndrome.) I was able to be released in about 3 days which I was grateful for such a quick response. They provided me with a packet of follow up information and specialists to see after discharge. Overall it was a quite pleasant experience and I just wanted to make a shout out to all the wonderful employees who helped me! read more

This is the worst emergency room I have ever been to. We heard the nurses laughing behind the two way glass, taking nothing seriously but were "very busy". This hospital is unprofessional and disgusting. Please do not go here if it is a real emergency. read more
