We came for a chinese new years celebration which featured some professional and amateur performances on the stage. A little out of place being in a strip mall, but it is nice inside with a well lit stage and a good sound system. I'd like to come check out more activities. read more

This place is located in the corner of a strip mall off Bollinger Rd, across the street from the middle school. My fiance and I bought a Groupon for three 45-minute private dance lessons, so we could learn some moves for our wedding and this is so far the best part of our wedding preparations! We LOVED our dance lessons! First, it is super easy to make an appointment! Just call and they check their schedules and get you signed up, making sure that what you choose is the most convenient for you. They also have other dance lessons, with different themes every day, whether it's swing or salsa or something more traditional. Second, our instructor Andy Jian was just phenomenal. He asked what kind of music we wanted, if we had a song in mind, and if we had any dance experience prior to our first lesson. He then catered our entire three lessons on the song we picked out! He's a fantastic instructor. He knows when to praise what you're doing well, really teaches you the steps, gives you plenty of instructions on how to improve, and overall makes sure that you're enjoying yourself! There was one dance move my fiance couldn't do because of his back injury, so he instantly came up on the spot with a similar move that would look just as sweet, but with a lot less work for my fiance. At the end of each lesson, he also recorded the entire dance for us so we could go home and practice the moves again. Honestly, we are super excited to show off the dance that we had tailored for us at this center and I highly recommend Andy if anyone is looking for private dance lessons for their wedding!! read more

We asked CPAA is they could send someone to represent Chinese traditional dance at our District's International Festival. A wonderful student named Kailyn Xu offered to come and she performed "Snow Blossom" for our audience. The children were mesmerized, it was beautiful - delicate and graceful. We felt honored that CPAA would take the time to help us. We are so grateful to have had the chance to let our children experience the richness of Chinese culture through dance! We were 3 weeks from our wedding and we were not prepared in any way for our first dance. Since I have duck feet when it comes to dancing and I am beat deaf, especially with ball room dance, I knew that I'd either have to do a boring sway the whole time or even worse step all over my wife's feet! We signed up for 3 private lessons with Andy to show us some simple yet elegant moves in swing dance. By the time the lessons were over and we'd practiced several hours, our first dance went off very smoothly and I must say from the video looked quite respectable! My niece comes here for ballet.. and I think it's a great place and all.. if you understand Mandarin... We're not so familiar with the language.. so it's hard to communicate sometimes... I like the place.. wish I spoke Mandarin.... would make life easier for my niece (in terms of learning & getting information on performances & dates and whatnot). But there are good things about this class... they seem to be very strict, so they help children learn discipline (hopefully.... This is only for ballet for kids... I had not done ballroom dance for 12 years but when I saw a Groupon for 3 private 45 minute lessons, I couldn't resist. Happily, I got to take the lessons with Andy at the CPAA Arts Center and he patiently took me through several dances including the Two Step, Fox Trot and the East Coast Swing to name a few. He made it easy for me, was super encouraging and very clearly reminded me of the steps. CPAA sets the standard for Community Organizations in the South Bay. I have danced there for 5 years and the Managing Directors are simply outstanding They are always prepared with a great program and helpful to everyone of all dance levels. They donate their free time for extra help. This is one couple who really give above and beyond the expected. Venue has large floor and always beautifully maintained. Excellent sound systems. The teacher we experienced (Kitty Xu) is horrible - no respect to the student, parent, and could not care less about building an encouraging and healthy learning environment to young kids. If you kid is not the best, she will be the teasing target to the whole class. During class time, this teacher keeps chatting with moms who sit in the classroom instead of focusing on teaching. She is much nicer to the kids whose moms are in the classroom. Not professional. Not well-educated. read more

I have been attending parties and lessons for many years at CPAA. It is managed by Andy and his wife Virginia. They are both good teachers and dancers. The music and sound system are excellent. During the current time when Cheryl Burke is closed. It is a studio with adequate space for regular Ballroom and monthly Salsa/Bachata parties in San Jose. Since, I enjoy Chinese dancing music as well as the others. This place is always on my visiting list. read more

I took a salsa dance here at Monday night 8:00pm, the teacher is Andy and his wife. They did a great job, very patient, nice and responsible. I promise you can't find another studio will teach you every pattern so carefully and seriously. I went to other studio,usually they only teach you once and won't spend the whole night check every movement of your step, but here they do! I promise you can learn a dance if you follow their instruction! During the month of May(2015)they have salsa, during the month of June(2015) they will teach another dance. We took private ballroom dance lessons with Andy and Virginia in preparation for our wedding. They were friendly, patient, funny, and very talented. They listened to the music that we wanted to use and choreographed a wedding dance and tailored it to our evolving (or not-so-quickly evolving skills). As time went by they made adjustments based on what was easy and not so easy for us to pull off. Couples dancing is a great alternative to couples therapy and Andy and Virginia were very sensitive and accommodating to each of our different learning processes. Also, having two teachers at once is really the way to go. Virginia would work with my husband and Andy with me. The best was when they showed us what a true connection on the dance floor looked like. Their passion for movement, music, and each other was very infectious and inspiring. We had a lot of fun with them in a very supportive environment, and the end result was an amazing Waltz that we pulled off flawlessly at our wedding reception! We really enjoyed our time spent with them and couldn't recommend them more highly! read more
