After striking out with other companies, I phoned Veteran Air. Lisa answered, listened, and looped in her service manager right away. Minutes later she called back: they could help, and we booked for Monday. Matthew, from Veteran Air, showed up this morning and was a total pro. He greeted my dogs like old friends, then tackled the monster unit without scratching the window frame or siding. Watching him wrestle that sealed-in relic out of the wall convinced me I never could've done it alone. The unbelievable thing? The bill was tiny. Way less than I expected for the time, tools, and muscle it took and such a good value. When I'm ready to add central AC, Veteran Air will be my first call. I bought my house two springs ago, so the ancient, rattling a/c unit is my problem now and I'm dreading replacing it. Above and Beyond is keeping it spinning, including telling me what the likely next problems are - they were right on target and I needed an emergency repair in July for a fan motor that doesn't believe in two weeks' notice. They were able to call me back during that 10pm holiday weekend panic to let me know when they could get someone to my home, just another service had faster availability for 2am that night. They still continued to follow-up with me after that appointment with another provider to make sure everything was okay and came back for that line service just a few weeks ago. No judgement at all from Above and Beyond on how it was I had forgotten two summers in a row about the vinegar. These guys are timely, communicative, and great on pricing. I have compared their pricing to at least six other local service companies and not only is Above and Beyond better, they are completely transparent on where the costs are coming from.
