Great Feline only vet! My two cats are terrible about going to the vet. So bad that I had to switch them from a small animal vet to a cat only vet. Cozy Cats was the second place that I tried. I've never seen my cats so relaxed and well behaved at the vet (at the first cat only vet, they were still quite stressed). The reception is very quiet and we were sent to a private room to wait for the vet on arrival. Vet was very compassionate and helpful. Even diagnosed and treated my one kitty's ear infection with a 30 day topical treatment so that I would not have the trauma of trying to apply daily ear drops. Delighted to have found my new vet. Highly recommended! read more

We have been taking our cats here for many many years. Its the only vets office where they don't over test or run up the bill for no reason. We have always found them to be very professional and genuinely interested in the well being of our cats. Also, being just a cat practice always instilled confidence in us that they are the experts. We will keep bringing our fur babies here! read more

Cozy Cats Vet - Veterinarians Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

Very caring team of cat people! From check in at the reception desk to check out I was happy!

Client for 4 yrs. Even during pandemic Dr.Levy was available and helpful. New facility has better parking. Appointment was easy and staff helpful. BEST of all my sick kitty is much better after seeing Dr, Reinhold who was gentle & informative. read more

Very friendly staff, and Dr. Reinhardt correctly diagnosed our cat's illness and the best treatment for him. A little pricey, but would still definitely recommend. read more

Will not be coming back. I made an appointment for a kitten that I rescued and am fostering until she's adopted. When I made the appointment, they didn't ask for any information besides the basics. When I got to the clinic, they refused to see the kitten because she's a foster and not my pet. They tried to say I didn't specify that she was a foster when I called, which admittedly I didn't because no one asked and I didn't think it made a difference (a sick cat is a sick cat). In addition, the lady came off as very rude and judgemental when she found out the kitten would be going up for adoption at a Petsmart (which I don't appreciate since PS does a lot of great work with their adoptions). Now I have to wait to get the kitten treated while I make an appointment elsewhere (clearly a cat's welfare is not the priority of this clinic). I'm new to the area and was thinking I could make this my go to Clinic but that is not going to be happening. read more

**BEWARE***I went to this office when it was A Cat Practice on Linden Ave. There were two receptionists working at the time. The old one was an absolute nightmare. After our initial appointment she "forgot" to schedule my new kittens follow up vaccination appointment so when I arrived at the office for the appointment, I was told I had no appointment set and I was turned away. On another visit I was prescribed medicated cat food which she gave me completely incorrect information on how much to feed my cat. We live in Northern, VA and she was extremely snippy and rude when I asked where else I could purchase the food if I couldnt make it to the office. She told me it was only sold there, which was a LIE. After a quick google search, I found the food on chewy.com. I don't know if she had something against me because she's old and leads a miserable life, because of the breed of cat I owned or because she has something against my race, but she was absolutely incompetent and awful every time I interacted with her. As far as the care, Dr. Levys care was just ok. I never got the feeling that they genuinely cared either way about my cat's wellbeing which is disheartening considering how expensive vetenarian care is. Stay AWAY!!! read more

We went here because it's close by, but even the convenience is not enough to justify this place. I showed up with a cat that had been vomiting consistently for over 24 hours, and I was concerned that dehydration was setting in. When I arrived for my appointment, the front desk clerk didn't acknowledge me at all (and the front room is very small). I told her I'm here for my 3:30 appointment...and waited....and waited....and waited. Almost an hour passed. My poor cat had been in his carrier without food, water, or litterbox for AN HOUR. At this point I rang the bell & asked the tech/receptionist to give me an estimate on appointment time. I was much more polite than they deserved, and explained that I live close by--literally, less than five minutes away--and I would rather wait with my cat at home & come back when the doctor is ready to see him. The tech was extremely condescending, and told me that the doctor was busy with an emergency case. I reiterated that I'm not asking to be seen immediately (or, even, within an hour of my scheduled appointment time )--I'm just going home, and all I'm asking for is a phone call so I can return when the doctor is actually ready for my cat. 'I don't know if we can do that' What. You don't do phone calls?! At this point I reminded the tech that I had been extremely patient with ZERO communication from the practice, and my cat needed to go to a place with water+litter box access. She looked completely unconcerned, and said maybe they'd call if there was enough time for my cat after the current cat was seen to. So apparently, they were okay with leaving my dehydrated, vomitting cat in a carrier for 2.5 hours, and then potentially cancelling on him if there wasn't enough time to examine him before closing at 6PM?? None of this was communicated to me until I asked. If I had known, I would have left as soon as I arrived. The communication just straight up sucks, even when you're in the office face to face with these people. No follow ups to speak of. The vet, who did eventually see him, was curt & dour, and no one ever acknowledged that they dropped the ball. read more

I used to take my kitties there when I lived in the area and loved the practice. I actually brought my cat from VA to see the vet here when I suspected my cat was ill, but found out it was a different vet (Levy) than who I was used to seeing in years past. I saw on the website she took a special interest in geriatric feline health so I was happy to bring my older cat in, even though they had zero records of past visits with the same cat as I had been a client off and on for over 10 years. She gave my 13 year old cat a clean bill of health and me a very high bill My cat died 2 weeks later. I found the office to be somewhat unresponsive to my emails unless there were multiple attempts and the vet herself to be a little cold and abrupt. We sadly won't be bringing any future pets to this practice read more

Dr. Hannah Levy is the best veterinarian I have ever been to, hands down. Since meeting her, I only take our own cats and foster kittens and cats to her. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind, and takes the time to answer all of your questions. I have never felt rushed or unimportant. Dr. Levy has helped solve some really difficult problems, and I would recommend her to anyone. read more

These people are angels. Patient, wise and understanding. From the support staff to the doctors to the surgeon...everyone exceeded all of my expectations as a new client. My 16 year old cat needed her eye removed. Terrible news for any animal lover to hear. A Cat Practice was incredible. I cannot express my gratitude of having such a skilled surgeon on the team there. There was no upselling, there was no crazy expensive advice. They informed me of my options and let me make the right decision. I appreciated the direct nature of this, emotions cannot be involved in these choices. It has to be the best choice for the cats health and for the owners finances. I feel they truly understood this. My kitty had a bad reaction to her antibiotics the next day, I rushed her over to to the office and they instantly took her in and helped her, they saved her life without a doubt. I am baffled by any negative reviews here. I am so sorry to hear anyone has had a negative medical experience, however I must rebuttal these with 100% of my experience's at A Cat Practice. Even the other clients are so sweet. I was crying on the front steps because I was so scared I was losing my kitty and one woman was comforting me and another man gave me tissues. I was overwhelmed by the kindness of these strangers. Also, a testament to the quality of people who are choosing this Vet. read more

I have been bringing my cats for generations. They are thorough, polite and professional. I especially like that they specialize on cats.

I've been taking my cats to a cozy cat's veterinary for the past three years and the service is always great. Even though they only go in for regular check-ups and the occasional tummy ache, they always remember my cats personalities and how to handle them. Truly appreciative of this practice. I would say pricing is standard. My cat's medicine which I have to fill up at least 4/5 times a year is affordable. read more

Took my cat Max for a general checkup and vaccines update and had a great experience. First, they are very strict with covid regulations. You do intake and payment by phone in your car. You just bring your cat to the door and they will take him or her from there and bring them back out when they are done. Second, I had some car troubles and the whole team pitched in to help jump start my car, even Dr. Levy's husband. Thank you so much and I will definitely be back! read more

I've never had a pet before and the first one I got was a feral cat given to me by a co worker. For weeks this cat hated me and everyone around her. She would hide and only come out to eat. I had her for 3 months and never got to touch her. She got fleas so I finally had to catch her and take her to the vet. They were so professional with her at A Cat Practice. They gave me somewhat of a vitamin to calm her down as well as Revolution serum for her fleas. I was unable to get the cat to let me put her flea medicine on by myself. So I called A Cat Practice and they had no problem doing it for me the next day! Not only did they give her the medicine, they gave me some sample wipes to help calm her down and even clipped her nails! The best part was that after having this cat for 3 months with no kind of interaction, they were able to hold her and so can I! I will definitely be going to them for all my vet needs! read more

Cozy Cats Vet - Peppers first vet visit! Still scared but much better - Veterinarians Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

This is not a hospital this is the office with rude receptionist and office manager witch care just about money. They don't care about their little patients. If you love your pet, I do not recommend this place! read more

This place is low tech and hit or miss depending on which vet you get. Prices are usually reasonable, but if they offer something ask about the price up front. The good vets seem to rotate out of this practice pretty quickly. Use them while you can! Wait times can be long, it is best to call in advance to schedule. I can't imagine that they would be good at handling emergencies, so don't even consider them for that. read more

This vet is the worst. As soon as you walk in you feel like it has never been cleaned. You never see the same vet twice in a row, and they seem to be more focused on income and the treatment of symptoms rather than the cause. They have been seeing my two rescue cats for two years and each time I go, rather than testing the animals for chronic issues, they recommend costly fixes like $150 antibiotics and drastic surgeries. I finally had enough and went to another vet only to learn that my two year-old cat, did not have a serious gum disease and does not need all of her teeth removed. The other cat finally received a blood test ,which revealed liver abnormalities. Hopefully we've caught it early and with the proper attention and care she and her sister will live a longer and better life. If you care about your cat(s), this is not the place you should even consider taking them!! read more

Very through exam given to my sick kitty. As a new patient I was impressed by the diagnostics utilized plus the efficient, kind staff.

I was looking for a feline-only practice for my two favorite felines, and Dr. Levy definitely fit the bill. Both her and her staff were very cat-focused and it showed. My youngest cat usually hates the vet but the staff at A Cat Practice put her at ease and when she got a little feisty, they let her do her thing. It is obvious that they have years of experience handling cats. When my eldest cat who has asthma had an upper respiratory infection, Dr. Levy walked me through the different options and let me know the risks and benefits of each. It allowed me to make a truly informed decision as to my cat's care. I find their prices to be on-par for the area, and I definitely won't be taking them anywhere else in the future! read more

I've been brought all of my kitties to A Cat Practice since I found this hidden gem 9 years ago. The staff is very caring and the doctors are excellent with my cats! (even one that was fired from a previous clinic for bad behaviors). I'm glad that we are able to come inside and have face-to-face conversations again but even when they were curbside, I knew that my cats were in good hands. read more

Updating- the practice just called me "on a recorded line" to clarify that my cat was not coming to a vet tech appt this morning. Do they call all missed appts on a recorded line? Why did they feel the need to record a vet tech call? Just because I wrote a review or because I emailed them about their practice of charging for appts that are cancelled more than 72 hours in advance? Be forewarned- basically you have to pay for the privilege of scheduling an appt, no matter what might change in the ensuing weeks. Maybe rather than recording calls, they might consider reviewing the actual practice that created the dissatisfaction. Again I understand being charged if you miss an appt without 48 hour notice. But cancelling with 72 hours notice? No. And I might add, the reason I cancelled is because my second cat just needed a routine check up while the cat they were seeing was likely going to need extended treatment. So I explained that I had to focus on him, financially and time wise (the practice was 45 mins from my home) and that was why I was cancelling for the other kitty. Is this an earth shaking report or story? No of course not. But it's an indication of bad business practices for pet owners. read more

This place is AWFUL! My cat (Kitto) had an eye goo problem. I figured it was allergies or something- so to make her more comfortable, I brought her to the vet. When I got there the vet told me Kitto needed these test to make sure that the eye was not injured. She did the tests, along with the exam. She then told me she could not see anything wrong with Kitto. She handed me some cream for a bacterial infection. Keep in mind this visit cost me $$$$200$$$!! I returned home with my cat. Two days later, my cats eye was RED and INFLAMED! I figured she had a reaction to the medicine. I went BACK to the lady. SHE DID THE TEST AGAIN!!! She told me AGAIN nothing was wrong with KITTOS EYE and that I needed to bring her to a specialist. She SUPPOSEDLY gave me a DIFFERENT medication for kittos eye. SHE CHARGED ME FOR ANOTHER EXAM ($$137$$!!!!). This time she gave me a cone for my cats head so that she would not try and clean or supposedly aggravate the eye more. I did bring her to another vet. THE VET TOLD ME SHE HAD HERPES. A COMMON EYE ISSUE IN CATS. The vet was very shocked that the CAT PRACTICE vet, FOCUSING on cats, did not catch it. She also saw the CONE that the Cat Practice gave me and told me STERNLY that CATS DO NOT USE CONES FOR EYE PROBLEMS BECAUSE IT CAUSES STRESS- MAKING THE PROBLEM WORSE!!! The new vet also told me that the THE CAT Practice gave Kitto the SAME MEDICINE TWICE AND LIED ABOUT IT!! THIS IS AFTER I TOLD THEM I THOUGHT SHE HAD A REACTION TO THE MEDICINE! The PRINT OUT FROM the vet said NO STEROID. The New vet pointed out that there was NO DIFFERENCE IN THE BOTTLES!!!!!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR CAT HERE!! I WASTED BIG TIME MONEY!! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! read more

First, I don't like vets who promote pet foods that are low in quality. And they do. They don't know anything about nutrition. They prescribed a pain killer and antibiotics for my cat's UTI. My cat didn't respond well to them at all. But not the vet's fault. Also I didn't like the general vibe there so I didn't go back. read more

My kitty is really shy as not happy with me about going to the vet, but both the Vet and the Tech were very patient and attentive. Prices were reasonable. Glad to find a place that specializes in working with cats (many Vets are clearly catered towards dogs.) Great experience, will be back. read more

I'd never take my cats here again. I can't take that risk. I would give 5 stars for the vet techs though (or at least one of them). However, the vet was completely inexperienced (female). She had to call other vets for advice. She had to look on the internet. She gave me three choices, not based on her experience, but whomever she talked with: 1. take your pet to VCA, she called them in advance and wanted my cat to stay there. She got advice from them. 2. Do blood work (but it is purely for academic reasons at this point) and we can give your kitty some fluids. (yes, she said that) 3. Euthanize your cat (yes, she said it like that) She was very matter of fact, and very rushed, quickly listing off these three options. She checked my kitty, said she couldn't tell what was wrong, checked the x-ray, didn't see anything abnormal. I asked for option 2, but I didn't do the blood work. I immediately followed up with my long time vet that lives 30 miles away and had to wait another day to take my kitty in. My other vet touched my kitty's stomach and within seconds told me that he felt a mass. He saw the same x-ray as she did, and said yep. There is is right there. And, all this after two vet's in Montg.Co did not see or feel the same thing. Bottom line: I wouldn't go here because you'll end up going somewhere else, spending more because of numerous visits and especially if there is something wrong that your kitty, you can't trust it. (at least, with the vet that I saw) read more

Just finished with the post-op checkup for my 11 year old tabby Charles and I must say, I am so happy to be back at A Cat Practice for my number one vet. Dr. Levy met Charlie about a month ago when I brought him in due to vomiting and he needed four teeth extracted. She and her team explained everything thoroughly and were very kind. The surgery went well and although he had an adverse reaction to the post op rx (gabapentin), I was able to converse with Dr Levy easily who was patient and understanding and had him come back in. We got him on another med and he responded well. I give A Cat Practice five stars because of the friendliness of the staff, the patience and clear talent Dr Levy has in her field, and Charlie is doing wonderfully as a result. Communication and transparency are key and this establishment deserves kudos galore. Thank you Dr Levy and team! read more

Dr. Levy literally saved my cat! I almost put my cat down because his vets told me there was nothing else they could do to help him with his discomfort resulting from late stage kidney disease. He was not eating very much and had stomach pain because he was having trouble defecating. After weeks of hand feeding my kitty and his vets telling me euthanasia was the best decision, I was starting to face that reality and was preparing to put him down. I went to Dr. Levy as a last ditch effort before pulling the plug. She compassionately listened to my story about everything I had tried to help my kitty and she suggested some new medication and a probiotic that completely revived him! It's been a week since our visit and he is 100% back to normal. He still has kidney disease but now he is comfortable, eating and happy again. Thank you, Dr. Levy!!!! read more

I really can't express how fantastic my experience with this practice was. My cat can be pretty difficult at vet's offices, and even though she had to be sedated, the vet and the tech were both so gentle with her, and they were communicative with me. I've had dozens of animals over the past seven decades, and my dad was a veterinarian. For my needs, I have never seen a better veterinary operation than A Cat Practice. I have been taking my two Maine Coons here for a couple of years, but we have never had any medical issues to deal with-yet, as they are fairly young. Just shots and physicals. My daughter's older cat (13 y) had been suffering for a couple of years with severe constipation. Constant pushing of medication, diet, enemas- all kinds of vet interventions. This had gone on for at least two years. Her first vet, who the entire family had used over the years had treated him, but then he retired. She then took him to a new general vet who treated him much the same. It was getting so she had to take him in once a week for an enema even with daily meds at around $100 a visit. The cat was going downhill fast at this point. It was at this time I told her to try a feline only vet. I took him to A Cat Practice, they were great. Dr. Levy spent a considerable amount of time listening to his story, examined him, did some blood work due to his age and recommended to stop all meds and a prescription diet. Within a week she had a different cat. It's been about two months and he has regained his spunk. We were thinking it was the end of the line for him when I brought him in, but now who knows how long he has. The best thing is he is comfortable. I would truly recommend this practice to any cat owner. read more

I've only been here once so far, but was very pleasantly surprised. This is what a vet's practice and is everything that I did not experience at other practices (are you listening Banfield?). The vet was excellent. She was very knowledgable and clearly cares about the animals and is passionate about what she does. She also takes the time to explain the important things and doesn't push unnecessary procedures (refer to 'caring about the animal'). I didn't know what to expect but will definitely be going here from now on. Only slight downside was that it was a little tricky to find, and their neighbours (i'm assuming a seminary) have build some very odd faux french style buildings. And a Japanese one. read more

Lived in Silver Spring since June of 2013. We've had to come here for two separate instances, once with each cat. Back in June '13, we had to take our cat over a day after moving here due to a UTI. He was constantly cleaning his private area, sitting in a crouched position, peeing blood, etc. We took him to A Cat Practice and within 24 hours, he was acting fine again. They gave us the necessary meds and were very kind. The most recent incident was more serious. What we thought was a UTI again in our other cat (he was acting the same symptom-wise as the other cat did back in June '13) turned out to be that he was completely blocked due to "crystals" in his urethra. We ultimately had to transfer him to an Animal Hospital in Laurel. We all knew that we were staring down at an oncoming $1-$2K bill when all would be said and done, so A Cat Practice did everything possible to help us out with the BS nickle and dime charges that a hospital would charge you. They set him the catheter, meds, food, etc. with our cat to be sent to the hospital -- to minimize the charges the hospital would have charged us for (which would have been doubled). Both cats are now fine but our cat that had the crystals now has to be on a prescription wet food diet that can only be purchased at A Cat Practice. My first time back there since our cat came home, they knew which cat I was talking about, who he was, etc. without even looking anything up. I didn't feel like a statistic customer when I was there. I felt like they genuinely gave a crap about my cat. Based off these two exhausting and scary experiences we've had with our fur babies, we completely trust A Cat Practice and when the time comes, we will be back there again searching for their help. One criticism is the awful hours. A few days a week they close at 2pm and they aren't even open on Sundays. read more

Love this place! It was hard finding a new vet in the area. I was traveling 20+ miles because going to a vet I can trust is very important. We just had gotten 3 new kittens and a friend recommended this business. They have been amazing. Always able to fit us in. Very reasonably priced. And most of all they communicate quickly and are always able to answer our questions. I really feel like they put they needs of our fur babies first - and that is what is so vital! read more

I had to have my sick cat euthanized, and the Cat Practice provided incredible loving and empathetic support. They gave us plenty of time to say good bye, and I felt they provided my fur baby as much caring as possible through the process. We were new to the clinic, but that didn't make a difference, they still treated us like their best clients. read more

I've been very happy with this vet. We transferred our cats' care here after moving, and have had consistently good experiences. Both cats were old and had existing health problems, and care has been great. Dr. Dearie has been very helpful and compassionate, and everyone was kind when the time came to say goodbye to our 18 1/2 year old girl. The only drawback is that it's expensive, but I think that's probably the case with most vets these days, especially around here. read more
