I was a soccer referee for 24 years and he kept me going to pursue my passion. Now at 72 years old I developed bad headaches. After seeing my primary care physician and he referring me to many other specialists a neurologist diagnosed my problem as coming from muscular tension in my shoulder and my neck and sent me for physical therapy. The physical therapy helped a little bit and I have been doing the assigned stretches and exercises religiously but the problem did not go away totally. I ran into Dr. Mark Friedman at a health fair at Swampscott High School. He was demonstrating a procedure called MLS laser therapy for pain and to reduce inflammation . I told him about my sore knees and my headaches and made an appointment. After about 3 weeks of his help through neck and shoulder adjustments my shoulder neck and headaches are just about gone, the best I have felt in months. Then I decided to try the MLS laser for my knees. It is a series of 12 treatments from a laser machine , no pain, nothing invasive and I must say after 4 treatments so far I can tell the difference in my 72 year old knees, quite an improvement and I am optimistic that once the treatments are done this pain will be gone. I am so thrilled that my wife and I just happened into the health fair at the high school and I ran into Dr. Friedman. He was able to deconstruct my standing and walking posture and the way I sat at my desk and figure out it was a case of sciatica, not a calf pull. The pressure I was putting on the sciatic nerve through the low back down to the calf due to incorrect posture was the root cause. I had been dealing with fertility issues for the last year, and was experiencing unbearable stress and anxiety. After just one visit with Kuan I felt the tightness in my chest going away and my anxiety disappearing. After just five visits I was pregnant. :) I continue to see Kuan every week. The experience is always very calming, and restful, and balancing. The office is always impeccably clean and welcoming. They have a huge selection of books in the waiting room that you can borrow on a weekly basis. They have bottled water. They have soothing relaxation music in all the rooms. The treatment beds are clean, comfortable, and heated. Kuan himself could not be any nicer or more accommodating. He starts each visit discussing your current state and makes adjustments to your treatment as necessary. Each acupuncture session also includes an acupressure massage (which is wonderful.) You don't have to be "into" every principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi, energy meridians, etc in order to feel the effectiveness of acupuncture. In fact, I started my visits as a pretty big skeptic. But whatever Kuan does, works! He helped relieve my stress and made me feel more balanced. And most importantly: he helped me get pregnant! Acupuncture had been helpful for me in the past and I wanted to try it again. However, something was always missing from the process..until I met Marcy! While I saw improvements before, they were NOTHING compared to the progress I am making with Marcy. I am essentially pain free and feel liberated, honestly. Taking medication is not an option given some horrible side effects I experienced and thanks to Marcy, I feel like I can manage any pain/discomfort with acupuncture and dietary changes.
