Duty... Everyone hates taxes. That's why they call them…read more'duty.' This tax-free liquor, cigarette and gift shop is pretty handy. There's a pretty okay selection of tequilas, which skews heavily towards the fancy stuff that you buy just for the bottle. The mezcals are diverse, offering things you don't see in every liquor store. The clerks are a bit on the pushy side. It's 10am and they sure push sample shots of tequila. The cigarette selection seems to turn over enough for them to have fresh packs. They're missing a lot of brands. I've seen better selection in Oxxo. Get this - the salesmen on the floor are empowered to give a 5% discount on anything for any reason they see fit. Make them give it to you. The store is well lit, and there are some deals, I guess. You kinda need to know what you're looking for here, and about how much it should cost, because not everything is a deal. Honestly, I'd stick with the tequilas.

I had only carry on luggage, so was not possible to bring it from USA. I saw the orange gift box and made a beeline for it. I was immediately asked if I needed assistance and the man pointed out their other champagne options. I was not interested because I drink Veuve at home when I do drink champagne. It was priced at $67. I pay $54 at Publix in Miami. Not a bargain, but could have been worse. They ask for your passport & boarding pass to complete the purchase. Was very convenient for me & worth the extra spend.

The other items don't seem to be a deal either. The lights shine much brighter than the service does. At least everything is shown in USD on the tag. It's all lit up in here, man. They have just about anything that you could desire so no worries about the selections. If you think you need it, it is probably there. Holy moly, it's a really bright place. There are more lights in this place than the entire inner city of Cancun has, LOL. My eyes hurt. '26 - 53

It's an airport…read more Not terrible. Not great. In the summer, you have to wear shorts inside because it's so muggy inside (AC be damned). Avoid the shops! Workers will blatantly discriminate against Black patrons (which is so... in Mexico?) And even if they did not racially profile, all of the vendors are selling the exact same 10,000 sku's. Walking to another gate wont diversify your list of crap to buy. All of its very cheap, very american, and all made in china. 80% of the bathrooms are clean and lines are not usually not long. Bugs indoors are likely and unavoidable(?) The earlier in the day you travel, the worse the security and custom lines vary. But personally, I flew through TSA the last couple of trips. And this isn't an airport issue but more of a Cancun complaint. No ginger-ale? Anywhere? In any form?

Just don't stop to talk to anyone before you exit. Baggage claim was good. We probably waited about 20/30 minutes. Leaving Cancun... Porters were available if you need them upon arriving to the airport. (Please tip them if you use them) He took care of our baggage until we got to the counter. Once inside the airport was easy to find your airline and on this occasion southwest had plenty of agents checking passengers and the process was smooth and heading to TSA screening was also a breeze. We had no lines. We traveled on a weekday (Wednesday) about 10:30am this airport is pretty modern and have plenty places to eat and shop. There is no announcements or flights status. You need to check the screen or your phone for updates/change. Your flight will appear on the screen within one hour from boarding. So this makes the airport pretty quiet compared to the USA airports. Bathroom was clean and had somebody attending the bathroom. The gates are good size and chairs are comfortable! As on any airport, buying water or any snacks are very pricey. Highly recommend this airport for traveling to/from Cancun,MX.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I will say it's better than I anticipated…read more The set up seems pretty efficient really. You land and enter on one side of the airport and arrive, enter, and depart from the other. This makes things pretty easy for customs and such. There are three terminals now and another one is being constructed as I type this review. Our driver told us all about it on the way back. Very chatty dude! I had been warned about all of the predatory tactics by the taxi and ride folks outside so I was prepared and not bothered by them. If you come here, take note of this. You can and will get scammed if you allow yourself to become a victim. Luckily we had prearranged the rides and were looking for very specific attire as well as signs for us to find. Just note this as others have said over and over. I will say it again for those in the back! There are tons of people waiting out front trying to get you to use their services. Those services vary a great deal in scammy/usefulness/end up dead in a ditch. Don't do the last one. No Bueno. My departure was interesting as we did not know what gate we were going to until about 10 minutes before boarding. Luckily the place is not that big so it was not an issue. We got there a couple hours early when we were leaving. There is plenty to do and lots to see while here. Have no fear! Consumerism is alive and well in Cancun Mexico! The whole place runs on it! Margaritaville is always a good time if you partake in the libations. They have a Guy Firebird or whatever there too. The duty free is only a deal because of reduced taxation. I found the items to be slightly higher than normal retail, at least for liquor. All in all it did what I needed it to do. Fly in, fly out, not get searched on the way in, or the way out. Not sure if I will come back to Cancun or not. I may have had my fill. We will see if I can score another 100% paid vacation next year for work! If so, I will see you again Amigos!! If not, it will be ok! ;) '26 - 51

That resulted in an overcrowded situation and a long wait to get our suitcases. I realized when I arrived to my hotel that my suitcase was opened at some point but nothing was taken. Exiting the airport will face you with tons of people trying to sell you tours or other services They will ask you questions or attempt to walk you to their desk. I personally just kept on walking as I knew my transfer was outside. If you have a transfer scheduled, you might want to find out the number where they will be located as they have over 60 different areas or numbers where you can find your transfer as well as many people trying to offer you a taxi and other services. Some drivers may be waiting with a signbut just be aware ofnhow to locate your transfer before you arrive as you might be bombarded by people attempting to help you. Checking in with Jetblue was very similar to the process in places like Boston where you print your boarding pass and drop off your luggage. Except they added zip ties to our luggage in Cancun. They were in place when we got to our final destination. Our terminal had many food and souvenir options available. As usual, expect to pay more for items at airports but that's the same everywhere. Gates are announced about an hour prior to departure so you might wait around at a central location until they are announced. In our case, the boarding gate printed on our ticket was not listed on the screen once we entered the gate area. We received a gate change text and saw a gate announcement on the screen an hour before departure as they don't make many intercom announcements. So don't trust your ticket and check an hour before for gate confirmation.

Definitely an upgraded Immigration and Customs area, everything felt shiny and new and immaculately clean! Immigration and Customs were quick, and we were outside in minutes waiting on our shuttle. DOWNSIDE - No ATM machines in this terminal, so we had to wait til we got to PDC to get pesos. Departing was just as great. Nicely organized rows of desks, I felt like I was in a much larger airport elsewhere in the world. We found automated kiosks for easy printing of boarding passes and were on our way to security, which also was fast. Like most airports you'll pass through a duty free shop first, which then opens into a food court area with some shops and some other sit down restaurants. Gates are not pre-announced, so you'll be stuck monitoring the boards until your gate appears about 45 minutes before your flight. No biggie, gates aren't that far and you can wander the shops while you wait! Bathrooms were also very clean!

There is even a Ray-Ban store with crazy prices (think Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer sunglasses Gen 1 for $700 when Sunglasses Hut USA retails them for under $299). There are lots of Mexican souvenir shops, but also with crazy prices. Tshirts were in the $32-$42 range. Even fridge magnets are $7+. There is ALWAYS a line for restrooms. I didn't care to eat at restaurants that I could eat at home. Chairs at the gates are hard plastic so not very comfy when you think that you're getting on an international flight in a few hours. Watch out for the "interviewers" there. They act like they're in an official role, and maybe they are but literally they're walking up to random people and asking about where they stayed, where they're going, for their boarding pass and passport, and other personal questions. I can't believe people actually hand over their documents, fully in possession of some stranger in the open. They have nothing in hand to record or aggregate responses. Yeah, no thanks. Just walk away. My personal info stays that way.
