From our experience, Molstead: -Did not do what they said…read morethey would do -Overpriced a damaged vehicle -Did not disclose significant damage We decided to try buying used and buying local. Originally selected this dealership because we heard good things. Searching online we found a vehicle that looked like exactly what we were looking for. In conversation with our sales manager Jack, he explained that they just got the vehicle in, was in great shape, was a one owner vehicle from an older woman who couldn't drive it anymore, only damage was minor body that was fixed. The test drive was fine (during the day), so we made what we believed to be a fair purchase. Once we took possession and drove it at night, noticed the headlights were pointed straight down, undriveable at night. Thought it was odd, took it back there twice to fix, but they couldn't get it figured out, so we used our own mechanic to make the simple fix. We were also told before we would take possession that they would reattach the interior-this was not done and became a battle to get it fixed, but only because the vehicle still had 2 months left on the factory. Over the next 6 months we began to notice how loud the vehicle was on the highway and then the driver side door began to not sit flush as it should. The defrost also had major issues. We had our own shop look at the door and fix it, and shared that it had been in a pretty significant accident. We decided to move on from the vehicle, and during the process, reviewed the Carfax which showed that multiple airbags had been deployed in the vehicle and it was owned as a fleet/rental -before the one owner. Neither would be terrible, had the vehicle been disclosed like this OR had it been priced according to the VIN. Every dealership we've shopped at since have all provided a Carfax, unprompted. This dealership does not. In all, one year driving this used vehicle cost us $11K, and got us an insincere apology for providing us mis-information. Would not recommend this dealership.

I really wanted to say it was a great experience unfortunately I cant…read more Drove an hour to test drive a Suburban. About 10mins away they called to let me know it wasn't there they had loaned it out. Ended up going anyway, test drove some others and decided to wait on the Suburban. Went back up to test drive it once returned and found it had 4000 additional miles then advertised. They knocked I believe $250-$300 off the ask price due to the increased mileage. One key flaw on it is that the grill had peeling paint. So between the asking price, mileage (high for the year) and paint I wasn't interested. About a month later and some communication between myself and the car salesmen I stated x amount and replace the grill to come to a deal. We settled on a asking amount and they stated they would replace the grill. Was told it would take about a week to get the grill in. Went to sign paperwork on the SUV, car salesmen we had worked with wasn't there. Guy filling in talked to us about the ceramic coating. They explained to us how clean the car has to be to for the application to be put on correctly. We also wanted to pay to have it applied on the interior. I filled out the paperwork and was given an I Owe you for the Grill, Ceramic Coating, and the lumbar seat (that didn't work so they were going to replace it). About 3-4 weeks go by after reaching out a few times they finally called to say the grill was in. Dropped it off mid-week. Got a loaner, once the SUV was done a driver would drive the hour to our place and exchange vehicles. Called on Friday to see if it was done they said the bumper was almost back on from the grill replacement. I asked about the ceramic coating.. There was confusion, they called back to ask if they could keep it the weekend. The gal said she knew it hadn't been done because of how clean the cars look and she could tell ours hadn't been done because it didn't have that new look. After lunch on Monday I got a text saying the driver had just exchanged vehicles. Got home to find the SUV COVERED in gravel dust. We don't live on gravel. We live right on a main highway. No where from Charles City to our house is there a need for gravel. Grill STILL HAD PEELING PAINT. Call the salesmen. I asked if he saw the SUV before it left their shop. He said right away "oh the dust, our driver said his GPS took him on gravel." (I question that or why the driver was on gravel). I then explained how the grill still has peeling paint and was told he knew it still had some (I was never called and told that). Was told they don't replace parts on used cars with new parts. I replied at NO POINT in ANY conversation was I told it would be a used part with PEELING PAINT! Why in the world would I want something replaced with the same issue. He said he would call me back he had to go talk to someone else. He called back there isn't anything they are going to do about it. I said this isn't what I agreed to and again stated I was NEVER told it would still have peeling paint to which he acknowledged and apologized for and said he wasn't sure what to do. The ceramic coating was done in such a bad way there are hard drips on the inside and out. There are places we question if it was even applied. We took it to someone who does do ceramic coating to get a second opinion and they agreed the job was done horribly. I got screwed. Shame on me for not making them write NEW on the I owe you. Never in a million years would I have thought they would have been this shady to make a car sale. They did say a few times this year of Chevy is known to have the peeling paint issue. However AGAIN at no point when making the deal or when they were working on it did anyone tell me the grill they were using to replace mine ALSO had peeling paint because not once did they every say it would be a USED PART. Lying by omission is still lying. I will say it again HAD I KNOWN THE GRILL WAS STILL GOING TO BE PEELING I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE SUV
