This was our first time trying cows creamery. We got the messie Bessie and it was delicious! The location was pretty busy so be prepared to wait! Definitely worth the wait!
So, so good. In fact, so delicious we went back! We discovered this place our first night in Charlottetown and went back our second night! Great service, even with a long line. It's a quick, in and out shop with no space inside to sit or anything.
Cows is supposed to be the best ice cream in Canada....that is a bold statement and I can't say I would agree. It is good, but the best, I am not sure. The waffle cone was pretty thick when I ate it, but the ice cream I got was decent. We waited in a long line for the ice cream and I had plenty of time to decide and got the Cherry Chocolate ice cream with a waffle cone. They have some fun swag though, so my wife bought a shirt that was not that expensive.
My wife suggested Cows ice cream as she has been to PEI many times. Macy was the person who took care of my order and she was amazing! Very courteous and kind. There was a long line in this little store that the staff moved along very quickly And we were all grateful for that. I ordered the PEI blueberry ice cream and maple walnut. Both were good but neither were excellent. Perhaps next time I will try something else and it will be better.
So apparently this is a very popular ice cream place that is a must go to according to YouTube and travelers. So we came and stood in a long line and my husband got a scoop of the very dairy Cherry chocolate with a waffle cone. I took a big bite of it and I wasn't blowing away really I think we've had better. He agreed as well. They had a lot of merch to look through and some interesting shirts that were fun. I even bought a shirt. They weren't even that expensive compared to the other gift shops in the area.
I first saw a Cows ice cream shop in Quebec (our loft was above one) - then came to PEI and during our tour , our guide said that Cows originated here and is now all over Canada. Well damn. That said, we had to try Cows. It was some great ice cream. And the awesome cow merch and cow puns galore make this such a cool and unique place! So many amazing flavors (mostly cow puns) , it puts Baskin Robbin's to shame , and their waffle cones were to die for! I had the Cookie Moonster - so creamy , and not overly sweet like a lot of ice cream places tend to be. $5.95 CAD for a single scoop waffle cone and $1 CAD more for double scoop. Yes please! Thankfully these chains don't exist in LA or I would get hella fat.
After passing up on the not so good cruise ship ice cream I made my way to the PEI Mecca of that frozen goodness. COWS is well known, touristy I'm sure but excellent nonetheless. some of the best ice cream we've tasted. Homemade flavors and waffle cones. Prices are very reasonable. Service is very friendly.
I was in PEI during a port stop on a cruise and the tour guide mentioned, COWS. Immediately I wanted to go and I'm so glad I did. COWS not only has a great vibe to it, but the ice cream is also really good too! They have tons of flavors like birthday cake, brownie explosion, coffee, bubble gum, peach melba, and wowie cowie- just to name a few. Service was great. I ordered shake of PEI blueberry since PEI is known for their blueberries. It could have been a tiny bit sweeter in terms of the blueberries, but overall, it was really creamy and delicious. They have a giant cow for you to take photos with- no, the cow is not real. And connected to it is a COWS shop where you can buy various apparel and other goods. I loved it and wished I had the time for a repeat visit to give other flavors a try.
We stopped in due to the creative and unique themeing. The ice cream shop has a gift shop connected to it and offers a lot of fun, cow themed souvenirs you can buy (I bought a fun Harry Potter/cow shirt). The ice cream itself was tasty and the staff working there were all nice and friendly. The only issue I had was the incredibly long line and lack of good seating options. Otherwise, if you don't mind waiting up to 10 minutes in line to get ice cream, I'd recommend this little shop for sure
This was our last trip to Cows, and the third overall during our time here this year! Options here are more limited than the Cavendish location, but the classic flavours are still available. My sister ordered a plain vanilla on a waffle cone. Although she did enjoy it, she did find the vanilla flavour to be quite muted and not very prominent. I got the chocolate flavour in a cup, with the cone on the side. The chocolate is my favourite so far! There's a rich cocoa flavour, but you still get the creaminess of the ice cream. By getting the cone on the side, however, I did notice that the waffle is actually slightly stale. It tastes crispy when you have it with the ice cream inside, but that's presumably because the softness of the ice cream brings out the hardness of the cone. That said, when you sample them separately, you notice that the waffle cone isn't really that crispy. After having Cows multiple times, the novelty really does fade. It's actually quite overpriced. That said, it is a classic and a must have when you're in town.
June 23/2026: A mid-week chocolate milkshake. This company has exploded in popularity in the last years. For a Tuesday night, this location was busy but the service was still good. There's nothing special about this ice cream except they have a brilliant marketer or company. It's all about promoting the product flavours such as Moo York Cheesecake, Wowie Cowie, Cowconut Cream Pie & Fluff "N" Udder, plays on words & it's definitely working! Very cool cow driven decor & promo items. read more

We had the pleasure of enjoying our delicious ice cream on a perfectly hot summer day in Charlottetown. The service was good and live music in the square was perfect. read more

I had to try this place after hearing so many good things about it. I had really high expectations for the ice cream. I ordered the PEI strawberry and my mom got the PEI blueberry. The strawberry ice cream tasted good, though I was expecting it to taste even better based on all the hype. My mom was very happy with the blueberry flavour and she said there were whole chunks of blueberries in there. The strawberry tasted very similar to the one by Haagen Dazs. While it still tasted delicious, it didn't quite live up to the "best ice cream" in my eyes. read more

Highly recommended even on a cold rainy day. Ice cream here are creamier than any ice cream we've ever had. Loved it. You can't come to PEI and leave without this insanely good tasting ice cream. They should open one up in Miami Florida. Their clientele would be as big or bigger than the following they currently have here. read more
I had to come here, since it's a Charlottetown staple. I had pretty high expectations, since they were deemed the "best ice cream in the world". Pros: very rich flavours, super cute flavour names, generous portions, price the same as other ice cream stores (Laura Secord, Godiva, etc.) Cons: staff not friendly (no smile, no greeting), really long waiting line The ice cream itself was good. I got gooey mooey and there were a lot of pieces of chocolate in it. They're not stingy on the filling. The negative vibe of the staff kind of ruined part of the experience for me. If you decide to visit, do not expect mind-blowing ice cream. It's good. It's nothing to write home about. Also, pro tip: take napkins if you choose the cone. This thing leaks everywhere!! read more
I had an ice cream at Cows this afternoon. In addition to selling ice cream, they also sell teeshirts (I've bought a few over the years), pajamas, mugs, etc. I got a double scoop of Chunky Chocolate Mint ice cream in a cup ... yum! read more

The 7-day Tour East Bus trip that I'm traveling on stopped here; we have 50 tourists in our group. We have some free time so a natural stop would be at Cows for the best ice cream in the world. The Charlottetown downtown outlet has a gift section full of Cows promotional items. Now, to address one's craving for dessert, you first have decide on cone or cup. Then comes the choice of flavours in either one or two scoops. Sundaes are also available. The prices are moderate but the ice cream quality and staff service is excellent! read more
So delicious. This Canadian institution certainly lives up to the hype. I had many, many ice creams from Cow's on my last work trip...to the tune of two double cones a day for three days straight. #noshameinmygame My approach was to go for all the flavours that wouldn't be available anywhere else. I normally am a huge cookies and cream + mint chocolate fan, but you could get that anywhere, so I didn't go for those. Of the flavours I tried, my absolute fave was PEI Blueberry. It's a very subtle flavour, and it's so light and delicious. I also really enjoyed PEI Strawberry - I could taste how fresh the berries were! I loved Cowconut Cream Pie as well - it's wonderful because it tastes like real coconuts, as opposed to cheap flavouring. And the other one I'd highly recommend is the Bessie's Pumpkin Patch - cinnamon and brown sugar deliciousness, with a hint of pumpkin. I wasn't able to try all the flavours I wanted because, unfortunately, they weren't all available at the locations I went to, but I tried enough to be head over heels. Oh, and the smell of their waffle cones cooking when you enter is just intoxicating! read more

The only thing that made me unhappy about getting a fabulous cone of Ice Cream from Cow's Ice Cream was they didn't have cherry vanilla. My chocolate was fine, the waffle cone topped with chocolate and nuts even better. The fun part of a visit to Cows is all their fun gifts featuring cows. Service was quick, we were in and out in no time at all. Parking is on the street front outside with meters. read more
Cows is a PEI staple. They've got delicious ice cream in fun and unique flavors such as "Gooey Mooey," "Messie Bessie," "Wowie Cowie," and "Cownadian Maple." I enjoyed a come while strolling around historic Charlottetown. The ice cream was good, and the whole experience was fun. Check it out if you're down for a local sweet treat! read more

Came here because everyone said it was the best place to go. I love ice cream and have had ice cream around the world at some of the "best places" so I'm probably fairly picky. The prices are reasonable but I was disappointed by the flavour selection. Nothing particularly creative. The coconut one I had was pretty good but I went back a few days later for pistachio and was very disappointed. I couldn't taste the flavour at all. I've had pistachio gelato and ice cream at many places and this was the worst one. Personally I think there is too much hype for this place. It's fun for kids and cute to see but if you're looking for an unique or amazing ice cream experience you'll be disappointed. read more

Thanks for the great review, Tyler! We appreciate your kind words and…
It's ice cream so it's automatically starts off pretty high on the scale. The issues here are that the scoops are tiny and there is no seating. In fact, not only no seating inside but not even a bench or a table outside. You have to go down the street and share a bench with the creepy hipster dude. Or not, go ahead and walk the full block down and eat your ice cream melty soup. read more
