Our first camping trip with this trailer in Michigan, we loved this KOA. We went in early October so there were not many people around which was great for our 2.5 year old. He had the run of the playground which he would rate a 12 outta 10... he could have jumped all day on the giant pillow. People were very friendly and helpful! Site was good once you got the trailer on the pad, only bad thing was the sewer was uphill from the pad so dumping was not easy, but just took a bit more work. I would not want this site if I had a bigger camper (ours is 25ft), would be tough to get set up. All in all, would highly recommend this place, far enough from south haven, but also close enough to go watch the sunset at south beach each night. Less than 15 min to van buren state park also! read more

red headed guy on golf cart is ride. Talks to you like your less than. . The store is way overpriced. The campground was ok. Blueberries were picked over. Had a baby screaming from bonfire time until 4 am next to us. Don't go a mph over 5 they will chase you down, meanwhile they come barreling ass on their golf cart kicking up dust. I wasn't impressed for the price we paid to stay. Wont be back. read more

This place is the saddest looking KOA campground we have camped by far. The campsites are not well tended, grasses are dried and patchy. Their sites are weirdly cemented every other site. Some are close to each other while other sites are spaced out. Only the staff In the store are masked and no one else. The guests are not observing social distancing and none are wearing masks. The pool area was small and packed with guests we did not really care for that as we came to explore the area. In the afternoon very large group of people would gather and none wear masks again. The laundry was disappointingly closed due to covid 19 regulations? Seriously. Pls refer to above observations.. They do have a small are with blueberries that you can pick if you just want a handful. A couple of chickens roaming around?! Otherwise we won't be back here. read more

As we have a large rig, we reserved a premium spot which had a patio, grill and was a very nice pull through site. We had spot 117. This is such a nice campground with so much to do. Should we ever come back this way again we would definitely want to stay longer so we could take it all in. Our biggest issue had nothing to do with the campground at all. Drove in to "town" for diesel in our truck and they didn't know where the nearest diesel station was. Glad we were not hooked up, but we did find one. Also, with rules on dogs cannot stay in camper, was disappointed that about the only place we could go in the area with them was a park to do some hiking. So we stayed and enjoyed our spot at the campground instead. read more

Worst campground I have ever stayed at. The staff is extremely rude and does not care about the people staying here. They would not let us buy anymore wood or pick up sticks off the ground even though we were freezing and drove 3 hours just to camp. I will never be returning here and neither will my family. The other campers were also coming up to us and saying how they had been extremely disrespected. 0/10 experience, 0/10 birthday stay. read more

We love the Covert/South Haven KOA! It is extremely clean and well run. The owners are fantastic and on site almost all the time. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Problems are always addressed immediately and with a smile. Lots to do for families, including daily crafts, movies in the evening, gagaball, a giant jumping pillow, blueberry picking and much more. The pool is heated and always crystal clean. I can't say enough good things about this place!! read more

Nice place. We just went to visit family staying here. It was nice tho. Clean. They have a little pool and kiddy water park next to it. Also a jump thing. They have teepees and a couple little cabins but it's more for rvs and pets are allowed. There may be more there to do but that is what I saw. All in all nice place. read more

Staff was friendly and helpful during our stay. Campground was nice and enjoyed the different activities for kids. Pool was fairly warm even during overcast days. The sand is a little bit of a downside. While it likely provides idea setup for tents, it's even on the roadways so walking around you will get sand in your shoes. Would have liked to have had closer access to the main garbage can so we could dispose of it a little easier but it is nice service provided that you have option of leaving it at entrance of your campsite for pickup. The mosquitos were pretty bad in the tent areas, not sure if water source is nearby that is causing them to be more abundant. It did seem as though the showers and bathrooms were not being kept up on as far as cleaning schedules and replenishing of toilet paper as often. Several stalls I had gone into during stay was empty of toilet paper. For the most part I think it was a nice stay for quick family getaway and to camp without being quite in the wilderness. This is a well put together KOA, with nice staff. I stayed in Kabin 4, the cabins have an outdoor kitchen close by which makes it really convenient. There is an on site cafe and all the usual KOA amenities. The Kabins even have cable tv (and the TV! which suprised me) My very only complaint was that the parking for the cabins is odd. They did let me pull up to unload but then had to put the car back out again. Come on guys, we all camp out of our cars, we can't be lugging stuff down a trail, etc. you have to sort that parking out. If you go here, you MUST take their advice and go to the local beach park. There are endless miles of beautiful beaches on clean water. Walk beyond the 'ropes' on the beach and your dog can go off leash and enjoy the water. If you don't want to cook there weren't a lot of options, so do plan your meals. Great stay. read more

We stayed in Kabin 3 during a cold, pretty empty weekend at the KOA. They deliver wood and ice to your campsite. WIN. Pricing was reasonable. The owners are a family and encourage those with conceal carry permits (like police officers) to carry on the grounds. We didn't do much on the campground but eat and ..burn fire wood. But the beds were comfortable, the fire ring accommodating. The kamping kitchen looked awesome, the pool wasn't open yet, but looked fun. The bathrooms were clean, but the ones not in the mail building don't have lights. The jumping pad looked like the kids were having the time of their life, and the dog areas were well kept and had all kinds of fun things for puppies. The wineries are close and plentiful. Also bonus. For something only two hours from home, this was a great get-away. read more

We arrived on Thursday for an RV spot. After beginning to set up, staff stopped by and informed us of an upgraded site that had just cancelled. We took it and it was much better. This place is fun - small water park for kids, great pool and tons of things to do. Ice cream inside, fast WiFi, pizza delivery to your site and blueberries to pick. The only downside is the camper spots in the front of the park don't have a lot of trees. It is close to South Haven and Saugatuck, both great spots. We also took the dogs to the beach on lake MI - Hager Park. Excellent stay, we will be coming back. read more

We just got back an hour ago and it was by far the best koa experience yet. Can't say we were camping we stayed in the deluxe cabin complete with private bath and flat screen tvs. Very friendly staff and gracious owner that even gave us a break when the kids broke something. Amazing camp ground!!! We love glamping!!! Very clean office extremely friendly and lots of amenities. The pool is nice and the play area is so fun for kids. The rv spots are huge and well man twin some are so beautiful u forget your roughin it!!! The luxurious spots come with great grills propane included and nice stobw and metal tables and chairs. The groups are very clean and the blueberry self pick is awesome( when in season). I would highly recommend tent or rv this camp site rocks read more

This is our second year here and we're so disappointed in the way we were treated in the darker hours. The zero tolerance for any conversation is unacceptable. Not much eye appeal yet, it's a work in progress and should be fine in several years. There are many ways to stay here, your own camper, rent a rustic cabin, a yert, a 2 bedroom air conditioned cabin. The best thing here is the fabulous kids play areas, pool and splash pad. read more

Clean!!! Organized!!! Fun!! The staff fall over to help. They delivered the firewood on Thursday and the ice on Saturday. Love this campground. The premium site even has a gas grill with utensils. I will be back and it doesn't have to be a premium site. The full hookups are just as nice. read more

Great kampground. Excellent staff, clean reatrooms and showers. They deliver firewood to your site for you. And they spray for mosquitos. Not that done alot of good though there were still alot although they did at least try to control them. The only bad thing here is. If your coming from the north you will most likely travel through covert. Covert is like driving down 8 mile in detroit. Full of usless hood rats. Rude and obnoxiuos. As usual hood rats are. They will even be rude to your wife and daughters. The kampground itself is excellent though just avoid covert if you can. read more

I mentioned my sister was getting married and we wanted our party to stay a few nights afterward camping. I asked prices of a small group and was immediately told they don't do weddings or receptions -- which I absolutely had made clear was not my interest. We just wanted our friends to camp after both the wedding and reception. I'm sure it's not rare to have people request small groups to stay near one another during the season. Yet the response I received was extremely rude, uncaring, and inconsiderate to paying customers. They literally considered none of our parameters & asked no questions about our interest, just said no. What kind of business based on customers responds like that? Upon checking into the campground we were greeted with friendly staff throughout the campground. They delivered our wood and our propane tank and hooked it up for us without asking. The place is very well maintained and very clean. The sites are nicely spaced so you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbors. The beaches nearby are beautiful. read more

If your looking for a campground that has it all. Make a reservation at Covert -South Haven. The owners are really out to make your stay the very best. The grounds on a rating from 1 to 10 have to be really at a 12. Make sure you walk around to the blueberry patch and the pond in the back. We've been here probably half a dozen times or so now. We stay almost exclusively KOAs and this is easily one of my favorites. Like all KOAs there are lots of activities for kids and adults too. Great location not far from South Haven and the beach but not so close to the action that it's loud. Nice pool, showers, and plenty of space to walk. If you come in the summer make sure you go to the office and get a bucket to pick blueberries. We come every summer and I take some home and make jam. read more

We have been coming here for 3 years and have never been disappointed. There are plenty of things for the kids to do around the campground and it is just a short drive from the beach and shopping in South Haven. If I had to come up with a negative I would say the wifi is really bad, but it is camping so you have to expect to rough it a little. read more

This campground compared to other campgrounds near by is by far the worst. if you have teenagers do not bring them, there's nothing for them to do and the workers will constantly yell at them. i saw a couple of boys around 10pm listening to music and laughing, a worker approached and told them they were too loud and they needed to leave. it's ridiculous how you cannot made any noise past 10pm it takes away from the camping experience and makes it feel more like living with your parents. worst camping experience i've ever had and i've been going camping almost my entire life. a Yogi Bear campground has less rules than this place, it's insane. if you want to have fun go somewhere else where things are more relaxed. this place is only good for kids under the age of 11 and still a yogi bear would be more fun for them and cheaper for the parents. wouldn't ever come back. read more

We rented a cabin here twice now because of how much this KOA actually has to offer! It has plenty to do on site for families, is very clean and well maintained! We have stayed at the Covert/South Haven KOA for years and always have a great time. The campground is clean and well maintained. They make improvements to the campground every year. The staff are always helpful and courteous, and they definitely go above and beyond. There are plenty of activities for the kids in addition to the heated pool, jumping pillow, and fishing ponds. In fact our kids never want to leave! You can pick blueberries right inside the campground. The campground is close to the beach, boating and so many other attractions in the area. We were so excited to be able to camp at this KOA this year for Labor Day weekend. We all had a great time, both adults and kids alike(ages from 2-11)! All of us are looking forward to the next time we get to stay at this KOA. read more

We absolutely love this campground! My husband and I have been here for the past three summers..this year we were able to visit a number of times including a long 4th of July weekend. Each summer the owners have added something new for both the kids and cabin/sites...and updating showers in "back"bathrooms.. The owners and staff are extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. The sites are great sizes, some larger than others....the pool is always clean, nice dog park...never knew my dog liked to jump hurdles before :), there is a deck off the "store" area that overlooks the campground and provides a great quiet spot to enjoy in the evening.. There is plenty to do surrounding the campground, including South Haven itself...or just relax at your site. We have been trying some other campgrounds to find a seasonal spot....only because of the traffic from our house :(....but this is by far our favorite....so we will definately be back! read more

This campground was okay. Not the best KOA I've stayed at, and I've been to quite a few. The bathrooms were really far from the cabins, and the ones closest to the cabins near the RV spots were pretty disgusting at night in the summer, they have no doors so it's filled with those night time bugs crawling all over. The showers weren't bad, but they really need to keep the door closed because it was filled with bugs at night and spiders the next day. Tons of Mosquitos! When I went the outdoor kitchen didn't work. Even attempting to turn on the stove gas didn't make it work. Not sure if they shut it off, but it wasn't anything special just your basic burners and a sink. Overall it's pretty nice, it could be better if they made a few changes! Also, the cabin I stayed in, the bunk beds were very unsteady and if you pushed them they would sway, but we told the man who worked there and he seemed pretty concerned and said he would fix it! We have been camping for 60 years, and this campground is one of the best. Tom and Libby, the owners, are wonderful and friendly. They and the entire staff do whatever their guests need for their stay. We have never seen any campground where the staff is constantly working to keep the place maintained. There are plenty of play places and equipment for kids of all ages including some things we have never seen anywhere else. The pool is heated an large enough to really swim. The lodge offers a small camp store, ice cream, pizza and pancake breakfasts along with showers and full bathrooms. There is a patio overlooking the pool and campground. Camping ranges from completely primitive to full hook ups and several different choices of cabins including 2 bedrooms with a bathroom and kitchenette. Whatever your style of camping, they have it! There is a dog walk area and the Kamp K9 is kept mowed and is large enough for bigger dogs. The nature walk through the woods is beautiful, and in October they turn it into a haunted hay ride. The campground is near South Haven on a paved road that is convenient but not busy enough to be noisy. The campground itself is very quiet. It is near Lake Michigan beaches in South Haven, at Van Buren State Park and a local park where dogs are welcome on the beach. South Haven offers full shopping, so whatever you need, you can find. Propane is available, they pick up your trash right at your campsite each day, and firewood is delivered right to your fire ring! Couldn't be better! read more

my husband, our two year old, and i checked out the south haven KOA this year for father's day weekend. i've been to a few KOAs before, and i must say that this one was the BEST by far. it is especially fun for families. we stayed in the deluxe cabin (our son is potty training, so a bathroom was essential) and it was charming and exactly what we needed. the pictures online really don't do it justice. we all really loved the outdoor jumping pillow, playground, and heated pool. the ice cream and homemade pancakes were also insanely delicious- and dad got free breakfast! the family staff were extra friendly and helpful, and the shop included anything we might have forgotten. they even had movies to rent! really, we felt right at home here and had a wonderful time. this trip was our son's first "camping" experience, and i felt it was a great intro for him. i'd come back here in a heartbeat. thank you for accommodating us so well and maintaining a place that is so much more than a campground. read more
