Covered Wagon is an older budget-minded motel, but with one of the best breakfast spreads I've ever had at a non-chain motel, that exceeds many of the motel chains in its price range. The rooms were remodeled more recently, the TV is as small as I expect from a budget accommodation, but what makes up for it is the staff (really nice) and the constantly restocked breakfast area. They have an indoor pool (a tad cool, but sufficient) and hot tub (cozy but fine, with new water) and the only Tesla superchargers in this part of Wyoming, if anyone needs. read more

This is a pretty typical rural motel with a significant amount of added touches. It has Tesla superchargers on site. A decent indoor pool/hot tub/sauna and modern rfid keys and Apple Pay. Guests can also take advantage of the grill and patio and there's a playground too. The rooms could use some more modern improvements and repairs. read more

The property is definitely dated. The bathroom sink sat so low that I thought we had been put in a handicapped room. The shower head was also so low that my husband had to bend down to shower. The bars of soap were literally the size of a half dollar. You get a "special" rag for makeup removal, etc. and will be charged if you somehow stain other washcloths (according to the note they leave). The beds were not super comfortable. More blankets would have been nice. Our room had a small fridge and microwave. The TV was very small and dated. It snowed while we were there, and though we didn't check out until 10:00, the sidewalks weren't cleaned off. The free breakfast is satisfactory with several options. The juice selection was odd. We struggled finding outlets for things. The indoor swimming pool is why we chose this facility, and it was clean and nice but separate from the rooms. Purchased a handicapped accessible room for my husband who has a disability to attend a state American Legion conference and he was unable to take a shower for two days. There was no walk-in shower and the tub was to tall to safely step into. When the issue was addressed, the staff and owners ignored the situation. This motel is not ADA compliant and they don't care. read more

This is a 3 1/2 hotel, front desk lady was nice, helpful and worked with me. Was clean one bed on the fly room, has a indoor pool and hot tub, but the pool and tub are separate from the building, it is basically set in the middle of a u shaped hotel set up, if you want high end you are in the wrong town and area... But I was very pleased, couldn't ask for anything more on short notice and what I wanted. I wanted quiet, simple and clean, on my way thru town. You really can't go wrong if that is what you are looking for. Small town and nice people. I would definitely have No problem staying here again. This is our first time staying at the Covered Wagon but I would recommend it 100 times over! Our room was super clean and very cozy. The beds were comfortable and sheets were clean. We wanted to take my son to the pool, but was told it was super cold (we felt it for ourselves and noticed it was really cold!) so Sam turned down the hot tub for us and it was the perfect temperature for my 5 month old to swim in. Lastly, we really enjoyed the hot breakfast in the morning which consisted of eggs, sausage, gravy, a variety of breads and biscuits, French toast/waffles and cereal along with juice and coffee. The hotel staff is very friendly, rooms are exceptionally clean and breakfast is very tasty! I will absolutely be staying here again when we come back to visit my grandparents. Wifi is soso. The Motel is everything you hoped your western adventure would include. It is a blast from the 1950s past. It is also clean and Nacosha at the front desk is friendly and helpful. Don't expect chain luxury, but you will find clean, rustic charm served up with free breakfast. read more

Solid 4 stars. Good beds, in an older motel. Don't expect flat screens or fancy stuff, but you will have new beds, comfortable sheets, and working heat/AC, which often is not the case in small town hotels in this area. Friendly staff. More/Better laundry machines would get it 5 stars. I've tried to do laundry daily for 5 days, and it's alway occupied. Perhaps convert a room on the far end of the complex into a laundry room. read more

Great little motel! Clean and quiet, which you wouldn't think with the trains all around. We got the family room that had two queen beds and one full size all in the same room with plenty of room for moving around! They have a simple, but yummy free breakfast. Very friendly service as well. All this for only $68, which includes tax! Awesome place! read more

We choose local accommodations and food whenever we can during our frequent road trips...all part of the experience. Cleanliness is a huge factor with me, and Covered Wagon did not disappoint. Our room was huge and clean, the bed/pillows were comfortable, had ample towels, chairs and surfaces so we could spread out. The shower was hot with great pressure and the A/C unit was quiet. With hiking and sights to see, I don't expect a motel to "entertain" us, but they do have a very nice pool and pleasant green outdoor areas, and I believe I spied a nice play area for those with kiddos. Continental breakfast is available but there are also a cafe or two within easy walking distance. Added bonus (for me anyway) glass (not plastic) drinking cups and large ceramic mugs (not styrofoam) for in room coffee. They have a conveniently located guest laundry. This is our second time through the sweet town of Lusk and when we return in the future, will certainly use/recommend this motel again. read more

This motel is great to stop into and stay on the way to or from somewhere. The rooms are super clean, the grounds are tidy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My kids loved the indoor pooI and the play ground. I have stayed here twice now and plan on returning soon! And the Smokehouse next door has delicious BBQ! read more

This place is awesome!! We stayed here on our way to North Dakota on a family vacation. What a great motel, so much nostalgia. I love looking at the old pictures of the motel in the hallway across from the breakfast room. The breakfast!! Great bfast, they made scrambled eggs with real eggs not frozen! They were so good, and so was the rest of the free bfast, lots to choose from. Rooms were very nice, clean, with a microwave, and refrigerator. There was a play structure outside for the kids to play on and a pool. At night we went outside and had a drink across from our room while our kiddos slept. The staff also topped it off, they were very friendly and hardworking. You could tell they took pride in the place. Also, believe it or not but Tesla has hookups here too. Way to cool!! This place is exactly what I like to stay in when we are on the round. Nothing fancy, I don't like fancy, but I love friendly staff, clean rooms, great breakfast (FREE!), and the kids loved it too! Thanks covered wagon motel!! Keep it up! BTW - I have nothing to say on the laundry facility as I never needed it. They also have a great tiny gift store in the lobby with some neat nick nacks, if your a nick nacker. read more
