This venue is newer and very nice in a mid-size city that has a downtown that appears to have little activity. It's easy to find. There is plenty of parking. Parking fee for a basketball game with Youngstown State was $10. Concessions were comparable to other sports venues. Beers were $9. All seats were good. Sound was good. Staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. After the game we walked uptown to Avalon Pizza that we found on Yelp. Good choice.

I can remember when I first moved here in 2000 and there was talk of an arena being built... nobody thought it would be a good idea, People said it would not last and certainly wouldn't get good acts. Boy were they wrong! I am so glad Eric Ryan and his staff have made this venue what it is. My family has shared countless good times here. From my daughters first circus to seeing her favorite band, Shinedown and nothing will beat her face the first time she saw Elton John. The arena has wonderful acoustics and to be honest there is not really a bad seat in the house. I have watched shows from the front row and I have watched front rows from the VIP area, I have watched shows from the very top[ row of the arena - and I have no complaints. In fact what i will say is that we go all over seeing bands and not only does the layout and sound make it great bit the staff at this venue is one of the nicest staffs we have ever dealt with. Concession ladies, ushers and most of all security are all some of the kindest you will find anywhere around. Mr. Henry and Mr. Tom in security are the best and I always love seeing them at a show. For snacks you will not only find the usual popcorn and nachos but they also have O'Charleys chicken tenders and french fries. The tenders and fries are really good. They also have beer nad wine and I find their cost is reasonable. All in all I do nto find it over priced compared to some places. If you have not experienced a show here, please check one out. It's great!

I love this place! I took my daughter here to see Disney Princesses on Ice and had a blast. Aside from the absurd overpriced $10 sodas and $20 cotton candy, the entertainment was great. A fine venue for major events in the Youngstown area.

Great place to watch a concert. The only thing is the hallway is to narrow for the amount of people. To crowded in concession area

Overcharged my credit card. Only one men's room open the whole night. Couldn't get into the bathroom.

The arena itself seems a tad smaller than my hometown's shiny new Consol Energy center.

One of the first things that stood out right away was the parking. There is plenty of space, it feels safe, well-organized, and easy to get in and out of, which makes a huge difference before you even walk through the doors. It immediately gave us peace of mind and set the tone for a great visit. Once inside, everything continued to impress us. The atmosphere was lively and fun without feeling overwhelming, and the overall environment was clean, comfortable, and inviting. We truly felt welcomed the entire time we were there. That kind of hospitality matters, and Hollywood Gaming & Casino made us feel like valued guests from start to finish. What really made this visit stand out, though, were the restaurants. We had the chance to enjoy Take Two Grill, Zombie Dogs, and the Sports Grill on the top floor, and every one of them was excellent. It is not often that you go somewhere with multiple food options and can honestly say that everything was very good across the board, but that was absolutely our experience here. Take Two Grill was fantastic. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, and the service made the whole experience even better. Zombie Dogs was equally impressive, offering delicious food with its own fun personality and style. It was memorable, satisfying, and definitely a place we would gladly return to. The Sports Grill on the top floor was another highlight. Great food, great atmosphere, and a really enjoyable setting that made the meal feel even more special. Each restaurant had its own appeal, but all three delivered quality, flavor, and a consistently positive experience. What impressed us most was that everything felt right. The food was excellent, the service was warm and welcoming, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and the property itself felt safe, convenient, and well-run. When you combine amazing parking, a welcoming environment, and three very good restaurant experiences all in one visit, it makes for an outstanding time. Hollywood Gaming & Casino clearly puts effort into creating a place where guests can relax, have fun, eat well, and feel comfortable. We left very happy with our experience and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun outing with great food and a welcoming atmosphere. Everything was perfect, and we will definitely be back. Five stars all the way.

Customer complaints regarding the Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course (the official name for Mahoning Valley Casino) primarily center on perceived "tight" slot machines and poor payouts, along with issues concerning customer service, facility conditions, and safety concerns in the parking lot. Common Customer Complaints Slot Payouts/Machine "Tightness": A frequent complaint is that the slot machines are "tight" (meaning low payout rates), require significant wagers to trigger bonuses, and result in consistent losses. Some reviewers allege the machines are "rigged" or remotely controlled, a claim the casino and regulatory bodies deny, as electronic gaming machines at this facility are regulated by the Ohio Lottery. Customer Service & Staff Issues: Complaints mention rude, unhelpful, or inattentive staff, particularly at the rewards desk, bars, and in security. Facility & Amenities: Other issues include a lack of certain amenities (e.g., self-serve drink stations were moved or removed, limited dining options late at night), cleanliness concerns in some areas, and the facility's relatively small size compared to other regional casinos. Safety & Security: A notable concern raised by some patrons relates to personal safety, with reports of aggressive patrons and a perceived lack of adequate security patrols in the parking lot. Promotions & Perks: Some players feel that the loyalty program perks and free play offers are subpar compared to other casinos, and that the best promotions cater only to high rollers.
