A standard Courtyard experience. The staff has always been really helpful and nice which earned a 4 star alone. The location is also very good. With a wintertime shuttle to snow areas, I enjoy being in close proximity to several restaurant options, a Starbucks, and a mall. The lobby area is nicely renovated and I appreciate the bistro in case you want a snack or a drink. Wouldn't exactly recommend the bistro breakfasts as they're not the most inspired. Rooms are exactly as pictured but are dated relative to other courtyards. As a titanium platinum, I rarely get upgrades as this location is often very full with business travelers. read more

Arrived after midnight as I was traveling. Harassed by the front desk person. Texted before I got there-snarky on text. Reserved govt rate-didn't have my is-so he wouldn't cancel and charged me highest rate. Gave me a room that the heater and A/C didn't work. Stopped by on my way out and told them. They said I would receive points as I am a titanium member with Marriott (which doesn't mean shit to this hotel). Never received point until I called Marriot-and they sent a request to the hotel. Would avoid at all costs!! DO NOT BOOK AS THEY ARE RUDE AND ROOMS ARE UP TO STANDARDS WITH A HEATER AND AC UNIT THAT WORKS. read more

This was a nice little spot. While visiting clients in Utah, I ended up staying in Courtyard Sandy. The service was exemplary. The first room I was given smelled strongly of smoke, and after letting them know I was quickly given another room, that while far too large for my single self, that was very clean and comfortable. Carvers steakhouse was across the street, and the the lobby was incredibly comfortable as well, with a multitude of chairs and couches. They also held my baggage for the day while I was in meetings, and I left the hotel being very satisfied with my experience. My only caveat, and the reason for the one star loss, is that I would have loved a microwave. There was one downstairs, but not one in the room, and it was definitely missed. Overall, Sandy was definitely a nice place to stay and well worth the lower nightly rate. read more

Room looks just like the online photos, very nice inside, clean and comfortable beds. Customer service is excellent. Jennifer at checkin gave 110%, she speaks with a warm and inviting smile and helped give me my conference info and items that the original checkin person forgot. She was also able to call a complimentary shuttle for me to get dinner across the street. Inside the room, it's clean and the A/C, heater works well and is not annoyingly loud. read more

If you have a business guest who needs lodging in the south part of the Salt Lake Valley, there are plenty of choices. Given the fact that in many cases I get to recommend the lodging choice for them, I'll frequently refer visitors to the courtyard. It offers convenient access to the freeway, walking distance to the mall, and a terrific sports bar next-door, Iggy's. That leaves all bases covered for a business guest. Convenient and comfortable for business meetings in the lobby, the decor is contemporary, they have free Wi-Fi access, plus a Starbucks. So if your agenda includes lodging for a small business meeting in Southern part of the Salt Lake Valley, you can feel comfortable telling the visitors to stay at the courtyard by Marriott. Hotel is modern and well-updated to the Courtyard standard. The staff was courteous an helpful. The food served in the bistro was also very good. The room was very nice - about the only small regret I have is the proximity to the highway and train tracks as you can hear cars and the occasional train in the night. I stay at this hotel about 3 weeks a month. The front desk and Bistro staff are super nice, and very accommodating. The lobby and the immediate area look pretty good, but you don't have to go far for the facade to wear thin. First, when you hit the elevator, you notice how slow it is/how long it takes for it to arrive. The doors open and you see the dingy carpet inside, and the dinged up walls of the elevator. After a creaky, sometimes lurchy, ride to your room, you get off on a drab floor with carpet that has seen better days. Not quite as bad as the carpet in the elevator, but not far off. You get to your room and again, on the surface things seem to be good. Over the last year, the hotel has installed new 49" televisions hooked up to DirecTV, along with a couple streaming service apps available. But wait until you try to watch one of the local network affiliates. The picture is superstretched, and extends off the screen to the left (which is obvious when you watch morning news casts and see a seven day forecast, and the first day on the left is cut off). In the last 9 months or so, the rooms have all gotten updated thermostat controls for the HVAC units, so HVAC reliability has improved. Still, the units are in dire needing of a thorough cleaning - there are rooms I've stayed in where, if you leave your HVAC fan on overnight, you wake up in the morning and there's a layer of dust on everything on the cabinet - which must be a good 10 feet long. Just imagine - you've been breathing that garbage in all night! Then there's the plumbing. Almost every room has either a slow draining sink and/or a slow draining shower. On the sinks, if you turn the water on and wait for it to get hot to wash your hands, by the time you finish washing your hands, the sink is backing up. Same with the shower - start the shower and wait for the water to warm up. About the time you get in there and get the water adjusted, you'll notice that the water level in the shower start to rise. Lastly, let's talk about the "suite". What a joke this thing is. Same furniture as the rest of the rooms. Actually, in the bedroom part of the suite, there's a couch that looks like someone left on the side of the road. The sink area of the suite is ridiculous - you have this HUGE countertop, with the sink stuck to the far left side. There's a big mirror centered above the sink...but the mirror isn't the same size as the counter, so it comes short of the left side wall by about a foot. There's a single light hung in the center above the mirror. So, if you're a man trying to have a shave in this suite, you're having to lean over to your right, and the lighting is horrible - OK on the right side, but your left side is in shadow. On the living room side of the suite, as I said, it's the same furniture you see in the rest of the rooms, arranged haphazardly. You have a single floor lamp behind the couch in the corner, and the single lamp by the door. There's an area that appears would be for a bar, but there's no sink, no refrigerator...just drawers and a cabinet. Not sure what this is supposed to be. As I said at the beginning - I stay here a lot. I have shared these concerns over the years. Some have gotten better (the HVAC used to be even more of a crap shoot), but for the most part, there doesn't seem to be any interest in improving this property, or even taking a more pro-active approach in maintaining the property. Shame on you, Marriott, for letting this go on! read more

The hotel's lobby is very nice and modern. Staff is very friendly as well. The pool and fitness center is 24 hour, super convenient. The room is comfortable and overall everything is great. But there are a few things I didn't like about the room, the air conditioning in the room is very strange. It only comes on every 15 minutes and it gets really hot when it's not on. The refrigerator has a 2 hour timer, so pretty much your food and drinks don't stay cold all day when you're out for the day. read more

I stayed here last week on business. This is one of my favorite Courtyards since the staff are very friendly and helpful. They all greet you when they see you, including the guys that do landscaping! I am glad this Courtyard has been redesigned with the new furniture, cafe and outside sitting area with Fire pit. The hotel gym is nice and well maintained. I plan on returning, since as a frequent traveler hotels are usually a hit or miss. read more

Very poor place. My room had a moldy smell. The air system had a an audible buzz that kept me awake all night, even with a white air app I run to help me sleep. The drapes were pulled close when I arrived, and it turned out they were hiding peeling wall paper. I've always come to expect Courtyards to be a step below regular Marriott hotels, but this was obviously not the case. I made my unhappiness known through the survey, and was granted 15,000 bonus points. This really is not worth staying here until they invest in renovating the rooms. read more

We stayed in Sandy for our ski trip and it was surprisingly convenient. Snowbird is just up the mountain and there's a wider selection of restaurants and stores in this area. There's even a ski rental store that's a 5-10 minute walk away (just across the gas station) that sells discount tickets to all the resorts. The hotel room was very comfortable, spacious (for all your gear), and clean. No bells and whistles there but it comes with thick towels, free wireless internet access, and warm baked cookies in the afternoons at the front desk. Each staff person that we've met over our 3-day stay was very friendly and helpful. There's a UTA ski bus that picks up twice in the morning just outside the hotel and there's a bus that also drops off in the evening. If you miss that bus, you can easily transfer onto the light rail and Courtyard will pick you up from the Sandy station. I'd stay here again. I think this place would get a 5th star from me if they offered complimentary breakfast. They have a $9.99 buffet instead. read more

I agree with the reviewer who said usual bland joint. I was very surprised they didn't have microwaves in every room, so I asked for an upgrade, figuring the suites would have them. Um... no. A very nice elderly employee went searching for one and came back triumphant with a grubby, ancient nukebox, completely with crumb-y interior. The suite (really two rooms where one of the baths was removed) was... odd. It was very obviously two rooms, not originally intended as a suite, and felt really awkward. Check in was a breeze Everyone is extremely nice. The bed is comfortable and I asked for extra feather pillows and they were delivered right away. The TV remote would not work and they sent a new one within minutes that worked like a charm. Everything is close by and they have breakfast and light snacks and drinks after 5 pm or you can walk to any number of restaurants that look really nice. The room is good size and everything seems to work correctly. Internet works well. There is grass everywhere for us to take Lexi for walks which is awesome and they welcome service animals without any issues. The only issue so far is the air conditioner sounds like a jet engine when it comes on, so it is going to be troublesome when sleeping, but I have had to deal with worse. Which is the only reason for the one star missing otherwise it would have been 5 But it is not a deal breaker because I am up most of the night anyway and my husband can sleep through anything so it should be fine. read more

Room has a balcony but you can't open the door because of renovations... kinda wish there was and update of some kind of information about the renovations. Not impressed. Your usual bland dry corporate joint. Noisy as hell being next to a major freeway. From 6: 30 am the noise comes up and good luck sleeping. Then the heater in the room is like running an 18-wheeler truck next to you. Even with earplugs (which I always pack for hotels like this) the noise between the heater and the freeway is unbearable, e.g. good luck getting a good night's sleep. Internet speed is lame as well even when jacked in to the wired connection in the room. The lobby is generally well appointed. The gym is small and has about 3 machines in it and a dozen free-weights. They do have a very small pool ad a hot tub. The hot tub looked usable the pool not. They have a "Bistro" in the lobby serving decent breakfast fare and supposedly brewing Starbucks coffee. If one asks for anything other than a straight brewed coffee, like something really really complicated like a double-cappuccino you'll get some horrible weak thing that doesn't even resemble a cappuccino. But, at least it costs a lot ! read more

FILTHY.. DISGUSTING.. NASTY. MARRIOTT NEVER AGAIN! We checked in and the girl at front counter had ZERO personality. No smiles, no welcoming comments. I asked for a mountain view room and she sighed as if I was annoying her. Got the room and tuned the TV on, sound.. No picture. Had to call and have someone come up, he said we had to tie it on and off a few times to get a picture. Then we wanted to drink some juice out of one the hotel drinking glasses, (the glasses are "sealed" in a plastic wrap with a sticker that read "crystal clear") both glasses were used and filthy. One even had lipstick marks around the rim. Then we grabbed the ceramic coffee mugs, and those were filthy as well. On had what looked like grease or butter all over the handle, and dirty both inside and out. The second mug had food particles and what look like boogers all over it. Finally went to take a shower, the exhaust fan did not work, and after I had stepped into the shower was where I noticed pubic hair, and hair all over the shower tile. This was truly a filthy room and hotel, we had planned on being there for three nights, we checked out early the next morning and left this vile establishment. The Holiday Inn Express right next door was less expensive, super nice folks, and rooms were clean and comfortable. read more

I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. The only downside is you can't just walk from here to places but it is relatively well positioned for travel. I ended up getting an Uber if I wanted to go around anywhere and that was also a breeze (and cheap). The facilities were clean, well serviced and the lobby restaurant was also actually a lot better than I'd originally thought. The WiFi was surprisingly consistent and good. I'd happily stay here again and would easily recommend it to anyone. read more

For the most part, I would recommend this hotel. It was nice, tidy, and the front office staff was one of the best. The breakfast was better than any courtyard Marriott that I have stayed at. However, we booked in a large group for the national debate tournament and provided a great deal of money for them. They didn't provide breakfast for the last day of our trip, which we thought was complimentary. Nonetheless, they had a seamless guest experience until our last impression. read more

While sitting in my vehicle on a call for work I noticed I could see very clearly into my room I'd just checked out of, I also noticed moments later the housekeeping person come in and work in the room. The blinds were open all the way and there was no screen as it fell off 2 days prior in a violent wind storm. The housekeeper did not change Bedding after I checked out of the room. DID NOT. I couldn't believe it, she just made the bed sheets, pillows and all and left the room. Her time in there was maybe 12-15 minutes. I don't see how she cleaned the shower or floors and didn't change the bedding. UPDATE: Manager used the word "skeptical" of my account and disagreed that I could witness this. I told the manager I had nothing to gain I wasn't asking for refund or credit or apology. That I just wanted her to be aware. She went over the tenured staff record of years which only helped my claim as she is probably used to cutting corners and knows what she can't get away with. WILL NEVER RETURN AFTER MANAGERS ACCUSATIONS! read more

They have major remodeling work going on. When I checked in, I warned them of what appeared to be water damage in the room. The area is sold out. Was woken at 3:30 to discover a massive leaking roof with falling sheet rock from the ceiling. The night manager clearly was not equipped to handle this nor offered much help. I've been here twice for work and will probably come back on future trips. It has nice rooms and the new lounge/market place cafe type thing in the lobby. The gym is a little shabby and limited but it has a pool, ample parking, and I've had rooms with good views of the mountains both times. On my first trip the internet was out, but this time everything is fine. what has impressed me both times is the staff - they are very friendly, warm, and attentive. When my room didn't have internet last time, they had another space I could use to get work done. They make sure to make my room feather-free. They make my reservation over the phone but give me the internet rate. They even made some copies for me once. I have had great experiences here! read more

Seriously, the people on SLC/Sandy are about as friendly as they come but they seem to get more friendly here in this hotel! Jennifer and Andrea are top notch, just wish they would move to DC! It should be zero stars. The supervisor was rude, and scolded me like a child. She didn't have to be that way...i'm still a customer, and a marriott rewards member, yet she felt she didn't want me to explain my situation, and just shut me down. You're a supervisor, it's your job to keep customers happy. Don't go here......instead, stay at the Marriott Springhill Suites in Draper....or a little further out is the Courtyard in Lehi (6 miles). It's not too far from this hotel and the supervisors there are friendly and understanding. read more

I stayed at the Marriott for a single night. For a Monday night, on a slow week it was pretty pricey. I paid about $200 for a single night. I am a loyal customer to Marriott and I must say that this place is pretty pricey for the lack of amenities it has. There is no complimentary breakfast like most pricey Marriott's provide. Breakfast can be bought at the little bistro in the lobby. The bistro has very minimal vegetarian breakfast options. (0 of 1 star) The hotel room was nice and tidy. I had a large king sized bed and a sofa bed. The room also had a large desk which was convenient to get some work done. There was nothing gross and the room looked clean for the most part. The plug next to the bed was not working but not a big deal. I used the plug on the lab on the desk instead. (2 of 2 stars) I checked in via the Marriott Mobile app. This was great because they kept my keys ready. I spent less than 3 minutes to check in. For the 3 minutes, I talked to the front desk lady, she was kind and polite. She even went out of her way to tell me about bistro timings and restaurants around the hotel. ( 1 of 1 star) The amenities are basic. Pool and gym like most Marriott hotels. It was too cold to use the pool and I was too lazy to use the gym. I walked by and it looked pretty nice. There is a bistro in the lobby if you do not want to leave your hotel to get food. But if you're vegetarian like me, there are not a whole lot of options. Also, I forgot my toothbrush so I called for one. They asked me to come down to the market to purchase one. I have stayed at Marriott hotels all over the states. This is the only hotel that actually charges for forgotten toiletries. Not only do they charge, but they make you come down and get it. (0 of 1 star). Marriott hotels are usually convenient and priced well with good amenities. This one is expensive and makes you pay additional for basic toiletries. read more

We stayed here two nights for a dance competition. The staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean. It was a very wonderful stay.

This hotel is clean and modern and was a nice place to stay for our visit to the area. However, we did have one major problem when we first arrived for check in. We specifically called and reserved a suite since we were traveling with our 2 young toddlers. This was really important to us so we could put them to bed but we could still stay up. During check in they told us the person staying there the night before checked out late and all the housekeeping staff was gone for the day so we couldn't have the room we specifically reserved. This is unacceptable for a hotel to do. They were basically telling us our reservation wasn't important to them. Mark, who was working the front desk, was very friendly and apologetic and he did everything he could to make up for it. We also had a great experience with Sidney, who was working at the cafe inside the hotel. She was super sweet and helpful and we had a great breakfast. The people we dealt with were all great but I'm very disappointed how Marriott handles their reservations and didn't seem to care how about providing the suite we specifically requested. read more

They let me sleep in late undisturbed, and even though I left around noon, I came back to find my room made up. The hotel was clean and quiet with great views of the mountains. The front desk staff was friendly but often disappeared behind "the wall". We couldn't find anyone late one evening, even by phone. Remodeling was going on, which we take into consideration. The pool was empty. Overall, my family had a nice stay, but these were some of the most uncomfortable beds we've slept in. We changed rooms to get a softer bed, which was an improvement, but still not a fully restful sleep, especially with the AC going on and off all night. Good central area for a travel stay, with plenty of shopping and eating options nearby. read more
